Lol. See diversion, that's an entire new discussion, I rather focus on the Russia/Ukraine war. One thing is certain both of them experienced losses there, significant loses and the Afghanistan experience was a significant cause of the disintegration of USSR.

Both the US and Russia invaded Afghanistan, put a govt in power and both govt were abolished the moment they left Afghanistan. Only difference is the US could shoulder the economic cost of their occupation in Afghanistan, the USSR couldn't shoulder the economic cost.

The United States had accomplished its mission in Afghanistan: to remove from the battlefield the terrorists who attacked the United States on 9/11, including Osama bin Laden, and degrade the terrorist threat to the United States. Simple.
The US launched Operation Enduring Freedom on October 7, 2001. The US and its allies rapidly drove the Taliban from power by December 17, 2001, and built military bases near major cities across the country. So they occupied Afghan since then till Trump ordered the pull out. Don't confuse yourself.

The Soviet involvement in Afghanistan (1979–89) was a key military factor in the breakup of the U.S.S.R.

And we're discussing the Russian/Ukraine war.

The US won the battles but Taliban eventually won the war, superior military won't always guarantee victory, same as we are seeing the Russia/Ukraine war. Russia can't be in Ukraine forever they would eventually need to pack up and go. US learnt their lesson, Russia would learn too soon
