What is most important after increasing revenue is cutting cost of governance . If we like make trillions in revenue , if we keep spending as a nation at this rate ; we will end up getting poorer as a people .

The government needs to prioritize our actual needs over our wants.

I followed the sentencing of Ekweremadu and they mentioned how the man owned almost 40 houses abroad and officially he earned a little less than 400k pounds. I’m sure he must have used his various positions in house committees to help himself acquire most of those properties .

I know someone who got paid by FERMA for a job that was never done. Mr A has a relative ; Mr Q who works with FERMA. So Mr Q just requested for Mr A’s BVN, asked him to open a bank account with a micro-finance bank that partners with FERMA. The money being disbursed is under the guise of FERMA needing to construct roads in some parts of the country and they needed to contract unskilled laborers to clear bushes to allow them construct roads.

When the funds were disbursed to Mr A, he took 40% and returned 60% to Mr Q and his associates in FERMA . They had several people do this for them. Funny enough , no clearing job was done anywhere ; just money was pulled out of the system.

This is how we spend some of these funds they keep going to World bank and China to borrow . If they don’t block these leakages, we will keep borrowing and even increase revenue yet we will have little or nothing to show for it.
How do you own almost 40 houses abroad ffs.

Efcc arrest Saleh Mamman, the former minister of power that Buhari sacked in 2021 for a 22bn fraud.

How do you embezzle 22bn in 22 months ffs.

These guys are fûcking heartless.
These are the people telling me they want to remove subsidy.

They should concentrate on recovering looted funds. The money should be spent on things they told us subsidy money will be used for.

When we see enough transparency here, we can start talking of subsidy.

And Buhari is still asking to borrow $800 million, less that 20days to the end of his 8yr tenure. Worst still Tinubu and APC are not saying nothing, so I am assuming they are in support, and would not turn arround to use the debt burden as an excuse for non performance.

I’m all for cutting cost of governance but trust me no be their salaries and allowances these politicians Dey use buy all those properties. Na embezzlement of our commonwealth.

Apart from cutting wages and salaries of political holders, we need to trim the civil service and that’s where it gets tricky. Try to implement Orosanya report today and see how hard labor will kick. 80% of our recurrent expenditures are used for salaries, pensions and gratuity. In fact more workers are asking you salary review and increase (deservedly I must say) all these will just continue to over-bloat our recurrent expenditure further.

We need to aggressively increase our revenue, block leakages and promote transparency in all our revenue generating agency.

I’m also in the look out for the fiscal and monetary policy that the new administration and CBN Governor (hopefully not Emefiele) will introduce. Hopefully we won’t continue the trail and error of the outgoing administration on the economy.

No President can reduce the cost of governance. None.

Check the 2023 budget that was passed into law, look at the recurrent expenditure and tell me what you think you will cut out of it.

I don’t know if you’ve read Orosanya report of cutting the cost of governance and most of his recommendation was either merging a lot of agency that are duplicating each other work or totally scrap some agencies.

Now most of these agencies are created by law which means the first step will be to sponsor a bill to the NA to repel the act that created those agencies. Then you will have to pay off those that you will pay off (That’s if the NLC even gives you a breathing space) or you begin to face different court cases for wrongly termination and so on and so forth. Let’s not forget the public outcry that will come from the same masses shouting cost of governance when their father, mother or uncle is retrenched from the work force.

Governors that just attempt to sanitize their work force and sack some teachers, we know how it ended for them. 😂

Oasis, still waiting on your response to this.

Donjazet2:
Noticed how you sidelined this post;
How do we reconcile the fact that INEC declared an obviously false result like in rivers state?

More importantly;

DO YOU BELIEVE TINUBU WON RIVERS STATE?
BlueRayDick:
It will be funny seeing INEC in court explain away how the result they announced as official figures in Rivers differs from what is on their own iREV portal ……Like why should anybody take them serious going forward 😎

Emifiele might just see out his tenure. What do you think? His tenure expires May/June next year.

Tinubu might need 2/3 majority of the Senate backing to remove him. There are so many allegations that can be used to remove him. I want Tinubu to use the rule of law to remove the CBN governor unlike Jonathan.

Shey World Bank is mad, they should go and approve $800m loan for someone that it’s tenure ends in less than 18 days.

Moreover I thought the $800m loan was for the subsidy they wanted to remove and they have put a halt to it.

Absolutely.

Here is also what the post says;

“Since the BVAS was the focal point and sole foundation of the appellant’s case, it was imperative that they produce the BVAS of the 744 polling units or a certified true copy (CTC) of the contents of the BVAS in evidence and show that the record therein established non-accreditation, improper accreditation and over-voting in the 744 polling unit,” the supreme court held.
So basically, IREV is not reliable, but the (data on the) BVAS is (to ascertain over-voting).

And that was exactly what Obi's team requested for (to inspect the BVAS) before filing their petition, so if they have the CTCs of the results, I don't see a problem for them.

None of Obi's prayers is hinged on over-voting, and I doubt that they are citing the IREV as a source of proof for their case.

And let's agree that INEC is not bound to electronically transmit results from the polling units, but the fundamental problem of what is recorded on the EC8A forms and stored in the BVAS also contradicts what is on the IREV and what is on the IREV also contradicts what INEC announced in some instances.

So if Obi's team have their original polling unit results, and CTCs of the BVAS information, I believe they've got no problem.

All of this aside sef, this judgement is confusing to me. Why exactly is INEC not bounded to upload the results to IREV when they literally said this? What is on the IREV should naturally correspond with what is in on the BVAS.

See out which tenure? If he knows what’s good for him, he will bow out with Buhari. The DSS are hot on his trail and Buhari that’s protecting him will be gone in 18 days.

Let’s see how everything pans out sha.

What’s even more annoying in this Saleh Mamman case is that the money he diverted was meant for the Mambilla power project.

Saleh Mamman is from Taraba, guess where the Mambilla power project is located? Taraba 😭

Man looted money meant to use to build a power project in his own state.

I have said it repeatedly. There is a new cold war brewing. Saudi, russia, iran and China are forming an alignment of sorts. The loans of the 80s from the west were to ensure we were on their side. We are going to be seeing a lot more of this in the next few years.
