I wanted to do that too, but nairaland was giving me a very tough time.

Since yesterday I've been trying to upload the pictures and give characteristics for each tribe, but nairaland didn't want to upload and I ended up getting tired.
Fragile Samantha.

You just sacrificed your entire freedom to spend the rest of your life in the hospital.. Wow.. I can't imagine myself doing that.

But good for you.

Just go out more often when you're off duty and soon enough you'll find yourself your better half.. smiley smiley smiley

Tata Mandela physically looks like a Bushman. Even Thabo Mbeki does look like them also.
Indeed... You are observant about
Thabo Mbeki and his facial look.

And also remember to leave the doctor in you at the hospital when you come home.

This thing of you guys coming home with your doctor instincts can be something else sometimes... Sometimes you can make a person feel like she's your patient instead of your girlfriend...🤣🤣🤣

And I kinda find it funny how most doctors don't like injections, but they're always quick to prescribe one to a patient..🤣🤣🤣

This is not surprising at all. Modern South Africans absorbed the genes of the indigenous Khoi-san people. It shows up in their phenotype.
Indeed @1Sharon.

Some of the early white male immigrants from the late 1600s also fathered children with Khoisan women... Hence the light skin among some Khoisan.

Ah yes ofcourse. White people ate the source of the coloured category in SA aren't they?

Not quite, the colored population itself is very very mixed, some have little or no white blood, some have more of malay/indinesian blood, some are more khoi inclined, some are very dark so no.

Erm no, the light?reddish skin of the Khoisan is not due to the mixing with whites, that is how they originally look

Samantha, hows it going? Have you ever taken a DNA test from an ancestry DNA company in SA to determine the percentages of
Khoisan genetic markers?

A couple of genetic tests results I have seen from black South Africans on YouTube are very revealing. The bushman genes were found in the iconic Desmond Tutu and Nelson Mandela.
Bushman genes are to be found on every modern black South African, on average black South Africans tend to be lighter complexioned, shorter, leaner, have sparingly hair like the khoisan, etc, The Xhosa people especially, inherited their high cheekbones

The Khoisan are widely believed to be the oldest tribe in the world and are also believed to be the actual forefathers of the Chinese, Mongolians, etc , etc

I haven't taken any ancestry DNA, but I've seen few of those South Africans who did.

It's believed that every black South African has got Khoisan DNA, but the Bantu genes dominate because of years of marriages amongst ourselves and with time, we outnumbered the Khoisan people even though we still do have their DNA from when our ancestors migrated from Central Africa to South Africa and intermarried with the Khoisan people.

Nelson Mandela did had some strong Khoisan genes.
Samantha, I'll bet you are an ambivert and love to read a lot while absorbing a vast universe of information out there. You seem like you studied history and international relations or law while in the Uni?

Oh, wow! That's an interesting feedback you made up there. The Bantu and Khoisan admixture of bloodlines in Southern Africa is indeed very deep.

Did you know that the term hunter-gatherers is a term that is used to describe the Khoisan as well?

My jaw nearly hit the floor the day
I first got to know that folks from many West African ethnicities who did ancestry DNA tests with 23and
Me, and AncestryDNA, etc, all had the hunter-gatherer genetic marker of less than 1%! Lol.

These DNA tests are indeed unlocking the deep mating secrets of mankind's past.

@KingCold, thanks for the great feedbacks from you. I like the fact that a lot of South Africans use the NL forum as well, and can rapidly give firsthand info on any topical event relating to SA.

Wow! A Pedi man in the attached picture with a high cheekbone?

Oh yeah, Nelson Mandela being a prominent Xhosa looked very Khoisan with that high cheekbone.

I remember now that in the year 2019, I watched a couple of DNA test result videos on YouTube uploaded by South Africans and there was no white or European ancestry in the genetic makeup of a very light-skinned SA female academic in that video who had a high percentage of Khoisan genetic marker.

Southern Africa is simply amazing in terms of a rich genetic pool.

I'm not gonna lie, I don't know anything about the Hottentus, I'm hearing about it for the first time.

As for the Bantu people, what I know is that all black South Africans apart from the Khoisan are Bantu people.

It's not a tribe, but an ethnic group of people mainly from southern and East Africa... I'm also a Bantu person.. Our languages can be similar here and there.

For example, in Swahili when they say no problem, they say "hakuna matata" but in my language which is Sepedi we'd say " a gona mathata"

We don't have Swahili in SA or in our neighbouring countries, but because we're Bantus, our cultures and languages can be similar.

I thought the Khoikhoi were the Khoisan, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.
There are Bantus in Cameroon( Central Africa), small number in Nigeria..... I think Shaka the Zulu is the Father of this tribe or just from Bantus tribe.... Correct me please if I am wrong.
Re: Different South African Tribes by Nobody: 9:27am On May 12, 2023
He's from a Bantu tribe... But I have a fellow South African in here that doesn't agree.. grin grin grin

Whenever I ask her to tell me where are they from, she keeps mentioning the Bantus, but denies that they're Bantus..😂😂😂

Funny enough, I didn't study history.. But I used to like reading my sister's history books back in high school during school holidays and yes, I did law in varsity.

I also like watching historic documentaries about SA and other countries, sometimes I'd visit museums to learn more... Sometimes when I'm alone, something would just pop up in my mind and I'll Google about it... You can say that I'm the curious type.. grin grin grin

I'm actually an introvert.
