The Bauchi State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Mr Yusuf Abdullahi, is advocating the application of Sharia law to prosecute traffic offenders to stem road crashes in the country.

He made the call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Thursday in Bauchi. According to him, the extant laws guiding road crashes are not stiff enough, hence, the need for the introduction of the Sharia law in traffic rules.

Abdullahi said the measure would instil discipline, encourage respect for traffic rules and promote safe road habits, among motorists.

“Let us introduce Sharia law to tackle road crashes and people will wake up. Our people are too careless, and the vehicle owners don’t bother to check them.

“If we don’t introduce Sharia law, many road users, especially in this area, would not start thinking twice before doing whatever they want to do.

“The introduction of Sharia law will curtail bad behaviour, as most of the crashes are due to negative attitudes by motorists and other road users.

People don’t want to take a rest; they speed because they want to make money. But if the law is introduced, by the time you are involved in a crash, it would be investigated, the guilty and his family would also be responsible for anything that happens in that vehicle.

“In a situation where the driver lost his life to a crash if found guilty, the owner of the vehicle would also be held responsible as it would be revealed that he didn’t do his homework before giving out the vehicle.

“The extant law is working, however, the extent to which it works is very important because in countries where Sharia law is being implemented, it guides attitudinal conduct to a level that even relatives and friends guide their relations in terms of what to do or not do.

“If stiffer penalties are being attached to road traffic crash offenders, it will go a long way to help us stem all drivers and other road users and make them drive carefully to avoid crashes,” Abdullahi said.

Further making case for Sharia law, the FRSC sector commander added that “Sharia law will be better. If you look at the countries where it is being practised, it is everybody’s business because your relations and friends know that it cannot be compromised.”

First it was the fanatic persecution of chrstains from antiquity, then the jihad wars, OIC issue, and Sanni Ahmed Yerima introduction of Sharia law as state law. There is the worst ethno-religious supremacist agenda introduced into government by Buhari. Then comes the flawed political muslim muslim combination in government.

Then now, religious colouration is being promoted as the operational policy of a supposedly non- secular organisation of government in a so called sovereign country. Why not divide the nation so that the Sharia justice system become the norm in the North?

That's a good idea but those people who believe Tinubu will Islamise the country will say otherwise. Ask them to give us any law in their religion to cater to humanity, they will not provide.

Sukuk is the Islamic bond that the federal govt used to construct some roads in this country, everybody benefited from the roads not only Muslims.

If any driver mistakenly kills anybody on the road, either the Sharia court rule to kill the driver too or the driver will pay for blood money to the relative of the deceased.

Meanwhile, “Nigeria consists of two countries; there is a backward, less educated & unhealthy northern Nigeria, and a developing, largely educated and healthy southern Nigeria.

We have to speak the truth to ourselves and ask why is it that northern Nigeria has development indicators similar to Afghanistan, a country still at war?.."

Foolish man.
How far has Sharia been able to deal with banditry, kidnapping and various financial crimes
perpetrated in the so-called Sharia states?

Imagine if Sharia law says the hands must be cut off for disobeying traffic laws, how will the culprit drive again? 🤔🤔🤔🤔

Free your self from enslavement by Kanu and his lieutenant Simon Ekpa, both sharia and ipobism are symptoms of zombie syndrome.

They should advocate it for corrupt officials.

Sharia law is good but the problem is that in Nigeria it will only be applied to poor motorists and not politicians moving around with siren and violating traffic rules

Do you see the Audacity in a Mixed Religious Country like Nigeria? So Sharia Law is more important than every other laws in Nigeria because of Muslim-Muslim Ticket? Muslim Religion caused Most of the Setback we are experiencing in Nigeria since 2009 because of Bokoharam.
