Matawalle Rejects Emefiele’s 'Study Leave', Says He Must Give Account To Tinubu by Ofunaofu: 11:15pm On May 15, 2023

Governor Bello Matawalle of Zamfara State has asked President Muhammadu Buhari to cancel the study leave purported granted to the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele.

The governor said Emefiele does not deserve to go on such leave due to his monetary policy which he called “a disastrous naira swap policy” that subjected Nigerians to untold hardship.

Reports emerged last week that Buhari granted a study leave to the CBN governor which will see him travel out of the country.

But in reaction to the news, Matawalle said Buhari should forfeit the leave to necessitate peaceful transition of power.

He, however, lavished praises on the President describing him as a patriot, democrat and a man of impeccable integrity and character.

Matawalle said Buhari has also demonstrated good faith by showing his readiness for a seamless transfer of power to the incoming administration.

“President Buhari and his wife Aisha Buhari have shown good faith and shown they want a seamless orderly and peaceful transfer of power to the incoming administration,” Matawalle said.

“They are eager to ensure that the new regime takes off smoothly and speedily and in a manner devoid of any encumbrance in the interest of our country.

“This is the right thing to do and I commend President Buhari and his wife for their statesmanly conduct.

“However, other officers in the government have acted in a different manner. They are behaving as if they want to put spanners in the work for the incoming regime.

“President Buhari should not allow this. He should frown at any attempt by any person seeking to damage the good job he has done.

“I want, here and now, to urge President Buhari to not approve any study leave or whatever kind of leave for any officer critical to the take-off of the incoming administration of Asíwájú Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“One of such persons that has been speculated in the media to have sought a study leave is Central Bank of Nigeria Governor Godwin Emefiele.

“If the leave has been approved, as reported in the media, the President should cancel it in the interest of peaceful transfer of power, accountability and good governance.”

Matawalle said Emefiele must be made to account for all that transpired under his watch to the incoming administration.

“CBN Governor Emefiele superintended over the management of the country’s financial and monetary systems. He is the one who initiated and implemented the recent disastrous naira swap policy, the naira confiscation program, which put Nigerians through untold woes and trauma and set our economy backwards,” he said.

“Two of my brother-governors and I took the federal government to court over this ill-advised policy and fought resolutely until we got a respite for our people from Emefiele and company.

“This same Emefiele now wants to proceed on study leave when he has some 10 months left of his tenure apparently in a bid to evade rendering accounts. This is unacceptable.

“President Buhari should not countenance this. Emefiele must stay at his job to give full accounts of all that transpired under his watch to the incoming administration.

“He must answer all the questions the new regime may have for him particularly when he still has some months left of his tenure.”

Matawalle also asked Buhari not to approve foreign postings or grant any foreign trips for any officer at any level in the outgoing government.

“I’m aware that some officers in the outgoing government are moving to surreptitiously leave the country at this critical time they are needed to answer to specific questions, though I would not want mention their names here,” he added.

“President Buhari should not heed their inordinate and unpatriotic plan. These plans are dangerous and devilish. They show clearly that these officers have something to hide.

“This must be halted immediately. Any plan to evade rendering accounts is neither in the interest of accountability, transparency and anti-corruption.”

The Presidency had said it was unaware of the purported decision of Buhari granting study leave to Emefiele.

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Malam Garba Shehu, said this while reacting to inquiries from Daily Trust.

The presidential spokesman had said: “If the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, has been granted study leave supposedly by President Muhammadu Buhari, this is unknown to us. It is also unknown to the President’s secretariat headed by the Chief of Staff.”

The best Buhari can do for Emefiele now is to sack him so he (Emefiele) quickly handover and japa. I strongly doubt Tinubu will not set an Investigative board to x-ray his stewardship as the cbn governor. It will take more than a miracle not to find him culpable of some shady deals and that is where the hammer will be brought down on him.

And to make things worse for him, Nigerians are very united in their agreement that Emefiele should be seriously punished not just for the suffering he inflicted with that naira swap dogshit, but for taking the whole country for a ride. Okay, the new naira note he claimed should take over the old one, where is it now?

The only two people happy with this Emefiele madness are Atiku and Peter Obi, unfortunately for him, they both lose the presidential elections.

But I see some greater fools blaming Buhari who does not know his right from left

Correct talk start to finish. Obi, Atiku and Kwankwaso showed themselves to be irresponsible hypocrites, opportunists and charlatans not even remotely ready to lead Nigeria.

The Naira redesign, because of the extreme hardship it was causing, should have gained the unequivocal condemnation of all Presidential candidate yet only Tinubu insist he would do the right thing by Nigerians and reverse it as soon as he wins the election.

The rest were busy playing politics of opportunism that always leaves Nigerians the brutalised victims while leaders bicker pettily.

Tinubu acted and all is well today with access to cash for Nigerians. That is the sort of responsive and powerful leadership, able to overcome and stop vested interest in it's track, Nigeria needs.

They will but Tinubu is not remotely interested in what they think or say. Watch the man and you will note he speaks when he has something to say unlike the insincerely loquacious empty barrel who is the leader of the "set of people" you refer to i.e Peter Obi.

Indeed they will call it a witch hunt but all sensible Nigerians now know what to expect from those who defend and plead for evil once it is from their own.

With Kanu, for example, it is amusing how many Igbos, from Gidgiddy of NL to prominent Igbos, are insisting on his release never mind the number of people Kanu has directly sent to premature graves with his murderers and cannibals.

If not for Buhari's lackadaisical style and the incompetent hirelings he insists on working with, I.e Malami etal, Kanu would long be in jail for terrorism, directly soliciting for arms to fight Nigeria, instigating violence endlessly on Radio Biafra and even jumping bail.

This was a man who flouted every bail condition given him originally to include a ban against convening a crowd. This, and so many other misdeeds of Kanu, are very basic infractions in law Kanu would be jailed for in less than two weeks in serious nations.

This is why I cannot wait to see the back of Buhari so we gain a serious Government that knows how to lead and is conscious of the image befitting a government that wishes to be taken seriously worldwide.

Tinubu will not talk much but his leadership, with meritorious leaders at every level, where we will see an Akeredolu-type as AGF and Minister of justice, will silence Igbos and end their immature/unreasonable conducts and demand.

Tinubu knows how to create governance that micro-zones responsibility so effectively even the most stubborn and irresponsible person will never call Mr.President's name when a sagacious and efficient AGF and Minister of justice, for example, is in place and awake to his duty.

Igbos simply know how to take advantage of lawlessness, incompetence, confusion, unprofessionalism and dithering which is what Buhari created yet Tinubu will not tolerate.

I don’t care, says Nnamdi Kanu as he violates bail condition — second time in 3 days

For the second time in three days, Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has violated the conditions of the bail granted to him.

On April 25, Binta Nyako, justice of a federal high court in Abuja, granted him bail on health grounds.

However, she ordered Kanu not to grant media interviews and to avoid being seen in a crowd of more than 10 people.

But on Saturday, Kanu addressed a crowd of supporters, numbering more than 10, at his father’s palace in Abia state.

Matawalle is in no position to make such a request. Those who go to equity must have clean hands.

Please stop talking like a defender of criminality. Yes Matawalle may have his own case to answer but this does not mean he cannot give his opinion on Emefiele's actions which are a monumental disgrace I don't think has been seen anywhere in the world in recent memory.

Emefiele undermined the integrity of the entire monetary system of Nigeria. Do you understand what that means and how seriously such is taken worldwide?

No greater crime than that at national level because any country with a rogue central bank and saboteur central bank Governor is doomed to implode 100%.

Emefiele, working for very selfish and irresponsible people, supervised the monumental loss of value of Naira against the major trading currencies of the world destroying so many small to medium businesses to the unspeakable detriment of Nigeria.

Creating SMEs, small to medium size enterprises, is always the aim of most nations because they are the lifeblood of the economies of many developed Countries. Emefiele directly worked to kill and frustrate our own SME sector. He is an evil and thoughtless rogue without any conscience or goodness in him.

Emefiele must be punished and seen to be punished very severely. It is a measure of how bigoted and casually criminal Nigerians have become that even one Nigerian can defend Emefiele never mind many who will begin senseless 'whataboutism' over his unforgiveable actions as you are doing here.

Never forget Emefiele's criminal actions put an entire nation in serious and grave trouble. Not one State alone.

He blames Emefiele, he blames naira redesign, he blames the PDP, he blames the APC on whose platform he contested the election and lost, he blames Yari for winning his senatorial seat, then abandoning him, he blames party leaders, he blames INEC, he blames every thing blameable but himself.

This is the backward mindset of a Nigerian who claims he wants democracy, but wants it run military style.

He says Kanu jumped bail but will never say that Kanu was forced to leave when the federal government sent the military illegally to his house to kill him

He says that Kanu flouted his bail conditions but it is only the court that gave Kanu bail, that had the right ti decide what was flouted or not, then revoke the bail

He says that Kanu sent many people to their graves but cannot present one single evidence to back up the allegation, beyond mere words

Hi own federal government went all the way to Kenya to kidnap and bring Kanu back to face trial. Kanu has since won billions of Naira in damages including a court judgment for his release. Meanwhile, the federal government is running around looking for endless adjournments

This is why Nigeria is a mess, and set to be s bigger mess under Tinubu, people who want choose when where to practice rule of law

People who expect the right outcome by doing the wrong things

Nigeria is a waste of time and we should all agree to its peaceful disintegration so we can go our seperate ways and stop giving each headache since 1960

Where is your sense of respect for the law that should make you conclude Kanu was originally wrong for violating his bail conditions disdainfully and multiple times to then justify Buhari sending the Nigerian army to check what appears an effort of Kanu to continue with treasonous actions his bail conditions forbade and that Kanu himself signed to abide with according to the instruction of the conditions that granted him bail?

Should Kanu have been ignored for violating several of his bail conditions again and again unrepentantly? When will you lawless clowns accept that Nigeria is not the lawless SE?

This is what marks out you Igbos as hopeless and a people best released from Nigeria for the greater good. You are all shamelessly lawless with no respect for constituted authority. You have no sense at all for appreciating wrongdoing from your own and prefer trying to present yourselves as victims always when the law we are all bound over to abide by see you as perpetrators.

To show the forum, once and for all, that you are a shameless liar and lawless apologists for wrongdoing from your fellow Igbos, that is your utterance below where you try to use deception and half-truths, as most Igbos are adept at doing, to deceive others that Kanu's bail was not revoked officially.

He says that Kanu flouted his bail conditions but it is only the court that gave Kanu bail, that had the right ti decide what was flouted or not, then revoke the bail

Below is incontrovertible evidence that Judge Binta Nyako who granted bail to Kanu also formally declared revocation of that bail after Kanu's flagrant disregard of the law that is a common quality in Igbos .

What else do you have to say now? Like I said before, you Igbos are only exploiting the lackadaisical approach of Buhari and the ineptitude/compromised mien of Malami etal.

Akeredoku or Fashola, both SANs, would have supervised the jailing of Kanu, in absentia, years ago. That is why I cannot wait for Buhari's indulgent and unfocusedt rule to be over. Oga, abeg try spinning what is shown below that disgraced your deliberate lie above. You lot are aberrant clowns deserving your own planet where you alone should live.
