Dentistry or pharmacy in Nigeria? How lucrative and earnings?

No ask this thing 2 times o: Pharmacy is king of medical practice.

I have answered this question one too many times
But i realized the mods love to push controversial topics to the front page.

Both are lucrative, you can't categorically say one is more lucrative, it depends on what you make of it.

But Dentists generally have better package from the government from the start, which makes them both complacent and delusional.

Pharmacists on the other hand are forced to look for side hustle to augment their salaries, so they go into business, some of them lease their licenses too

Most pharmacists end up struggling with chemist man for customers.. But the smart ones end up being a drug peddler the type we have as Inec selected.. Dentistry is better off cos they have rare stiff competition in their field ..

A Dentist is a Medical Doctor whereas a Pharmacist is addressed as Pharm

But in developed countries, it might be vice versa

The last time I visited a Dentist was 3 years ago..

Dentistry is more lucrative in govt hospital and govt establishment but Pharmacy is lucrative in private practice. Also with Dentistry, you can specialize and be a surgeon i.e maxillofacial surgeon...

Every course or career's lucrativeness is subject to the intelligence and business acumen of the practitioner!

There are poor pharmacists and rich dentists... And there are wealthy pharmacists and wretched dentists!


The sole truth is that Pharmacists are far more in-demand than Dentists in Nigeria and most parts of the world!

Pharmacy: If you want to establish your pharmacy store which is only thing pharmacist do in Nigeria anyway.

Even top pharmaceutical company only import drugs from India and repackage it and sell.

Dentistry: For any other role. Though dental care is still relatively low here.

I personally believe dentistry pays more due to the fact that they are very few when compared to pharmacists, A good set of braces cost well over 300k, even a simple extraction is costly af

As a career option, I’ll advise you to go for Dentistry
