Again where will the power to charge these busses come from, 280km per full charge, is it with traffic or without traffic.

Will these fare better than gas powered and diesel powered buses in the long term

Modern vehicles they make now switches off engine when it is idle and automatically starts when you attempt to move to save fuel/gas.

It is the same as been in traffick and manually using your hand to switch off your engine with the key and switching it on again when you about to move. But in the case of the vehicles the switch on and off is automatic, called a "Auto stop-start system"

I am not sure if its the same for the bus, but since it is modern and also the guys in govt in charge would have also thought about this before buying into it. So I believe it will be efficient even in traffick

Which one is " with or without traffic? Does the km/hr counts when the car is not in motion? Or does your battery drain when your phone is inactive?

If oando builds a charging point, it might help as they can as well use the same power for pump station to charge the buses, but as an investment, I will not invest in this kind of arrangement that has a single success point

Few people with Electric cars can be using OANDO more

This is a private business not government owned businesses

how does that explain this

Are you aware that Dangote refinery can generate up to 12,000 mw electricity, are you aware that states/regions can now generate I dependent power and supply? The South West is already ahead of others on this. I hope the north central will do same with Ajaokuta steel company

and subsequently negate the following
you are saying "they can" you arent saying that "they have". same way our moribund refineries and ajaokuta steel "can" but havent.

What transportation challenge do you have in Ogun state? So because LAgos state has done, Ogun state too should do it not minding whether Ogun state needs it or not.
Be realistic please

I have a home in Lagos, anytime I am there i experience epileptic power supply while that's for a home , for industrial purposes like brt, if they are planning to use diesel powered generator to charge those buses, then they have bombed themselves on the foot

Cool. That's positively interesting.
But surprised that the average BRT bus travels only 200 kilometres in a day.... ?
That will mean a ship load of buses required.

Lagos state the trail Blazers, other states que behind, the only state utilizing both the IGR and federal allocations effectively.

Come to think of it,the Niger Delta state should have been doing better if not for systemic corruption of their Governor's.

Kudos to sanwo only, Lagos state and Nigeria.

Each of these Yutong electric buses has the ability to travel 280-kilometers at full charge

Travel distance far exceeds an average daily usage of 200-kilometers from existing diesel-powered BRTs.

The Lagos State Government through the Lagos Bus Service Limited (LBSL) has officially launched the revolutionary proof-of-concept phase of the Electric Vehicle (EV) mass transit buses for passenger operations in the State.

According to the Lagos State Government, each of these electric buses has the ability to travel 280km at full charge, which far exceeds an average daily usage of 200-kilometers from existing diesel-powered BRTs.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu had on April 30th announced the arrival of the first set of Yutong electric buses for the state’s mass transit scheme as part of the State Government’s increased effort to modernise every sector of Lagos.

Taken to his Instagram page on Sunday to share pictures of the Electric buses, Sanwo-Olu also revealed that the State Government shall be running a pilot scheme over the next few months.

“I am excited to announce the first set of electric buses in the Lagos Mass transit master plan as part of our increased effort to modernise every sector of Lagos. Thanks to our partnership with @Oando_PLC, Lagosians can expect a cleaner and greener public transportation system.”

“With the ability to travel 280km at full charge, taking into account our unique travel times in Lagos, our electric buses are a game-changer. With an average daily usage of 200km by existing BRTs, there is no need to fear that the buses can stop on the road.”

Lagos leads, others following.

It does but at a slower/reduced rate.
I just suppose that the buses that will ply the congested routes will just spend less time on the job.
It is one thing for the a/c of an electric automobile to cope with traffic and I have watched many tests performed on the net and on t.v,
But buses have industrial sized/capacity airconditioning units and I have not seen any tests performed on them viz battery drain when in traffic.
I am sure the drivers will be instructed to save power and cancel operations when battery power falls to certain levels. At least enough charge to get them back to base.
I don't see any problem with this.

You think those things wouldn't have considered before starting off?
Lagos isn't those shithole States where you invest the state money and in few years the money becomes next to nothing in value
