Again where will the power to charge these busses come from, 280km per full charge, is it with traffic or without traffic.

Will these fare better than gas powered and diesel powered buses in the long term

You're asking the wrong question.
An average BRT travels 200km per day. This bus can travel 280km on a single charge. How many minutes does a BRT bus spend in traffic?

Electric is the way. Yes, these buses will fare better than tge diesel powered buses. Let's hope that the maintenance culture is encouraged thoroughly. I think Oando is handling the recharge and maintenance.

Yeap, seems that was why some selected oando filling station was converted to brt terminal.

You are on point bro. If they want clean energy then they should trash out all the Molue's Danfos even the Korupe's then have them replaced with electric vehicles (Which we know say e no fit possible because of awon owo mi da). Most times our leaders act like they are uneducated and less exposed. Fossil fuel is here and will be here to stay for decades. Stop deceiving the masses, well na the gullible ones fit fall for their gimmicks.

wonder233:
Low self esteem is really a bad thing. See an African country that should leverage on its comparative economic advantage of fossil fuel natural resources trying to impress Western imperialists who have built and still operating their industrialisation on fossil fuels.
Even in the west where electricity is stable and abundant, electric vehicles are still not widely deployed because of the cost disadvantage. You can see the harsh economic squeeze they faced when fossil energy prices soared. Let alone an African country still struggling with even basic electricity.
There is no such thing as "clean energy". What we have are various energy sources, with various nations racing to leverage on which sources they have a comparative cost advantage.

Lol in a country where nepa office depends on generator, we dey buy electric vehicles. So we will buying diesel to run mikano to charge the busses or what?

You need to see the condition the brt buses bought by Ambode and launched by Sanwolu are today, then you wil know these new buses have less than 2 yrs to diminish

As far as i am concerned, this is a case of misplaced priorities

Lagos state government have the capacity to generate power, and there is also an excess coming from the dangote refinery.
The issue is transmission, but with these buses they can have put charging stations in government secretariat and LGA buildings. There is also the solar option.

They’ll start operating soon & their batteries will get low..
Their battery will be charged..
We’ll all see how they charge it..

More vehicles on already congested roads. Improve the road networks ava you may not be needing more vehicles. Traffic jam is not a curse on lagosians. It is solvable

Its a proof-of-concept, do you understand what that means, its means they want to learn from the dry run. Its should not be a source of worry

Battery powered buses in that heat is asking for trouble.

I hope the fire service is ready to put in real work, those buses do not like extreme weather.

You don't alleviate road traffic by doing such. It's vital that alternatives to road transport are provided - rail, water, bike lanes. Not more vehicles.

Man is born to innovate and there is nothing to be sad about this development, infact it's a thing of joy. But my only concern is, where are the good roads to ply this modern utility vehicles over? Somethings in life are naturally complementary, take one out in isolation and the other won't last long. The earlier we get it right here the better!

Of course yes, it's more economical, and its a way to key into clean energy. Very laudable project.

You think the people are stupid like you abi. They wouldn't have factored how to replenish the energy before procuring the bus? By the way it is in partnership with OandO Energy..

Your question is already late, Mr Collective wealth...

Obidient!

You must be stupid, the crudeoil belongs to who? The cement belongs to who? All the natural resources in Nigeria belongs to every Nigerian but we can't mine it ourselves cause the profits would be scattered and there won't be law and order. Hence the reason why the government mines it and distribute it's profit in terms of salaries, social amenities, roads, education etc.

Can you comprehend this now?
Werey.
