Even POS agents at a moderately okay location make at least 100k per month.
Exactly my point . I guess some people prefer big job title to actually doing something that brings more money

We will continue to celebrate good news of Buhari's achievements. Nigeria Air is one of his many achievements. Thank you sir.
Let us assume the airline is real (it clearly isn't) how does that constitute an achievement?

You are seriously asking this kind of question?

Yes I am. This is 2023. It should be crystal clear by now that the government should keep it hands out of commercial business.

We have lived through the failures of nepa, nitel, nnpc. It is Buhari who has rose colored glasses for government run business

Ethiopia Airlines owns 49% of Nigerian Air so it's possible they rustled up a plane and painted it Nigerian Air colours for the optics.

Still some way to go before the airline launches properly.

iamoyindamola:
Larride did they buy borrow that plane from Ethiopia?

I haven't been following the news today but from what I know of the Nigeria Air, Ethophia Air is the joint partner.

You saw "ET" boldly written on the rudder of an aircraft, and you believe you are Sherlock for "investigating" and deducing that the plane bearing the label "Nigeria Air" belongs to Ethiopian Airlines. Of course, that is their airline code, which is displayed on all their tickets, and they are the major shareholder of the Nigerian flag carrier, at least as far as my knowledge goes. The scandal would have been if they had concealed the airline code. Gimba Kakanda
Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by chrisooblog: 8:55pm On May 26, 2023
According to the Ethiopian Air CEO they have a 49% controlling share so to all intents and purposes it should (emphasis on should) be privately run. FG has 5% I've forgotten now who controls the other 46%.

But in all honesty I don't know if it's the right deal. Maybe an aviation expert on this thread could shed more light.

This is a National Carrier for crying out loud. Do you even know what it will do to our image and opportunities it will also create.

FG stated that it will partner Ethiopian Airlines. Ethiopian Airlines are the core investors but it will carry our name and flag. This will do a lot to our aviation sector. Na David Hundeyin know watin en d reveal. Is fine if you don't believe.

Is an achievement to me and I will praise him for that.

.....ain't interested in this discourse but just wanna make something clear - ET own 49%, NSIA own 46% while FG own mere 5%.

What opportunities? Is Nigeria a major travel destination? Is Nigeria a travel hub?

Image? Setting up an airline will somehow improve Nigerias standing and reputation? And this perceived image boosting will lead to what? Cancelling of our debt? Foreign investment?

We already have multiple local private airlines in our aviation sector. So maybe you can explain what the addition of a poorly run airline will achieve.

For a country struggling with debt, reduced revenue, and an unbalanced budget this is nothing but an act of hubris and foolishness. Incidentally it is what African leaders have been lambasted for in the past. Meaningless vanity projects.

By itself that shows the whole national carrier noise is already unmitigated bs. Las Las Ethiopian Airlines will just rebrand their Nigerian offices and planes flying naija routes. Also, who owns the remaining 44%? Of our 'national' carrier?

I have modified the post actually, NSIA own the rest. I guess nothing wrong with having a national carrier, as far as its being managed as private business.

British Air,Fly Emirates, Etihad and co are national carriers but being managed by private entities.

NSIA is an independent investment institution, set up to manage Nigeria's Sovereign Wealth Fund in excess of budgeted hydrocarbon revenues.
So our depleted excess crude account is allegedly being spent on this?

National carrier with major ownership by an actual national carrier and 46% ownership funded via our dead excess crude account.

History will not be kind to Buhari. He is a complete disaster

We know Buhari no sabi econs.

We sha expected him to sort security and corruption, esp as he was not a member of the chairman of the board establishment.

But he fked those up too. Now as his admin is winding down we are being presented with this insult paraded as an achievement
Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by OasisX: 9:23pm On May 26, 2023
@GloriousGbola..... NSIA didn't even own remaining 46% alone, rather its jointly owned with SAHCO and MRS.

Na wetin dey bust my head be this . The fact anybody thinks the whole thing is worth celebrating is funny sha.

The whole deal is not adding anything to us . For all we care , the Aviation minister guy has given himself a befitting pension through this hasty launching

I don't know oh.

This Ethiopian partnership may not add anything tangible to the country

The country just owns 5%.

Looks more like Ethiopian airline is rebranding their office to Nigeria Air.
