Security is not static. Insecurity is always ever changing with new dynamics. What Buhari met when he came was a country that Boko Haram as almost on its knee with some LG in control of these terrorist. That is no more.

Now the insecurity challenges has taken new dimensions with killers herdsman, kidnappers and bandits going on a spree leaving the security forces almost helpless.

Did Buhari handled the boko haram crisis better than he met it? Yes. Did he handle the crisis that ballooned during his tenure? No.

And buying military hardwares are actually important, if most of Buhari predecessors actually invested in the military as much as Buhari did, our capacity to confront these multiple threats would've been mightily increased. A military that was defunded cannot respond to multiple threats in different fonts.

Overall on security, Buhari did his best, reduced the hold of boko haram on the country but failed to nip rampaging fulani herdsman and bandit in the bud but with his military hardware acquisitions, hopefully PBAT will be able to tackle these security challenges and those that spring up during his tenure.
Lmao.. Please again I asked a simple question.

If you say the man bought and equipped the military more, how did security get worse?
Could it be that this "equipping the military" isn't as impactful (truthful) as the admin has been saying?
Or you are saying an ex general nor know anything about warfare

Boko haram imho is not reduced because as far as I am concerned they simply reupped as bandits and continued as before. Same menace different label
So those bombings circa 2013 are still happening

What are you even saying exactly? How many country actually develop without a solid road infrastructure?

How many roads in the world actually pay back the money that was used to construct it? Or maybe we should just toll any roads that's being constructed so they can pay back the money used to construct it.

This kind arguments makes no sense.
But we have an issue with limited funds which means we have to use the available money we have to run projects that will fetch us investments back.
The roads that he has borrowed to fund, what are the economic benefits of those roads?

U know we just have to rely on what is reported in the media and can’t be making conjectures . So let’s just agree Boko Haram has been neutralized cos we don’t hear them seizing military barracks and bombing villages .

Was Buhari elected to just to reduce Boko Haram attacks and look away while other security challenges ravage the whole nation
So Buhari solved one security problem while another one came up like almost everywhere in the world

Insecurity evolves

I remeber this because we had a project in kano from 2021 to 2022 and the was enough militarization.

There were more attacks than just these two.

And we had multiple high profile bandit kidnaps where the govt did nothing.

Her words: “The President does not know 45 out of 50, for example, of the people he appointed and I don’t know them either, despite being his wife of 27 years. Some people are sitting down in their homes folding their arms, only for them to be called to come and head an agency or a ministerial position.”

Some jokes do tell themselves .

A government's basic functions are providing leadership, maintaining order, providing public services, providing national security ,providing economic security, and providing economic assistance.

SECURITY ! That’s one major area buhari has failed and we are bringing it to the fore.

Someone who is trying to defend buhari on that comes here telling us about purchase of military hardware. Then he proceeds to state the obvious that military is not the same as security . Yet he says we are the one with low iQ.

Why would a person with high iQ bore us with stories of military spendings that has not reduced our security challenges but instead things have gotten worse on a broader scale ?

Make it make sense na!
That's because you are basing your thought on the presumption that Nigeria was once a safe utopia.

Nigeria has never been a safe place!!!

It has always been a country that grapples with insecurity, just because a bulk of the insecurity that occurred during Jonathan regime was in the north-east a place that really does not affect you and doesn't add much to the economy of the country does not mean it doesn't exist.

I blame the Media for this, in their selective reporting, during the election there was less report of bandit, kidnapping attack in Nigeria, which lead many to believe that the insecurity took a break, but it didn't, in-fact, there was a lot of herdsmen attack during the election but it was not reported, sensationalism journalism, that's what most Nigeria media are, that's why report are distorted.

Below link is the Nigeria security tracker, you can check through it and see that insecurity didn't take a break during election, the media just stop reporting it.

https://www.cfr.org/nigeria/nigeria-security-tracker/p29483

Or do you think the farmer-herder clash in Benue started during Buhari?

According to data which does not care about your emotions, more people died under Jonathan than Buhari.

I am not sure the man has nipped anything in the bud. To this day the notorious sambisa forest has not been carpet bombed and is still a haven for bh.

BAT will have a big fight on his hands because part of the issue imho is latent sympathy to the ultimate intentions of boko haram.
Sambisa cannot be carpet-bombed, it's not a plot of land.

That's not our counter-insurgency works.

Was Owo church a bomb attack? You remember 2. How many happened in Borno alone never mind the entire north or even Abuja

No be the same Naija wey churches and mosques closed down because of Bokoharam

We have accepted that herdsmen and bandits didn't exist before Buhari. The Northcentral was safe before Buhari came

You are asking the wrong question.

What are the Security challenges we are having in Nigeria Today. Kidnapping, Farmer-herder clash, banditry.

What arms of the executive government do you think is best to deal with this? Military or Police?

Insurgency and piracy are 90% dealt with by the Military, So the Military have performed wonderfully.

It's the Nigerian Police that has failed in it's job and should be held accountable.

Building roads is good but borrow money to build roads in some remote areas is stupid
All roads are actually important. Those places you called remote just havent opened up probably due to bad road.

A good road infrastructure cannot be overemphasized as it affect almost everything. You do know bad roads is part of what makes agricultural produce expensive?

You need good roads for rapid development.

It's not as if Buhari has solved all our road infrastructure issues sef but the one he did get right, make una allow ham.

3/10 is still failure but to say those 3 no important no suppose be ham.

How many projects actually pay itself back. Even those projects will take decades to pay itself back.

So maybe we should just leave other areas of development and focus only on those that can recoup itself for.

Its only on Nairaland that borrowing for projects is a crime.
Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by Amoto94(m): 6:26pm On May 27, 2023
In eight years, I am proud to say that we have doubled Nigeria’s stock of infrastructure to GDP from about 20% to over 40%, and that is no small undertaking.
This happened when global oil prices plunged to almost zero, when we encountered a recession that was not predicted, when we dealt with a pandemic that was unforeseen and when we are still grappling with the global effects of an ongoing war in Europe.
So, as we look at Nigeria's debt profile, I urge us to also look at the assets and investment profiles, some of which was paid for by debt and some by investment income.
The wealth and prosperity of many nations, especially post-war Europe, was built largely on infrastructure and on debt redeemed over decades. Some of the projects are commercially self-liquidating.
Without investing in infrastructure, the road out of poverty is a much tougher one. President Muhammadu Buhari

Larride we do not have money.. It is expected that a bulk of the projects or infrastructure will be used for projects that would ensure we get value and returns even if it means government handing over the running of such a thing to the private sector.

In funding infrastructural development, our debt has blown up.
Oya now we have to look to those projects to generate.. It's not my fault the president could not see beyond his nose to actually plan what to do with our meagre funds.

Now what do we have to show for the infrastructure? Just debts...

How we go pay back nau?

In defence of our admirable VP, Buhari and some useless super powerful cabinet members undermined Osinbajo. Osinbajo as Acting-President implemented some good policies like easy of doing business, Tech policies amongst others, but those policies were either cancelled or ignored when Buhari returned. Osinbajo as head of Nigeria Social Intervention Programs did well with implementation of all the programs, but the programs went to shit when it was taken away from his office and handed over to Disaster Minister. Osinbajo headed a panel that investigated Babachir Lawal, the panel submitted it report with recommendation that Lawal be removed as SGF and prosecuted. Buhari did not implement the report until almost two years later. Osinbajo's many issues could also be due to him nominating and swearing in Justice Walter Onnogen as Chief Justice of the Federation as against a Northerner which was clearly Buhari and the Cabals choice. Osinbajo brave decision to sack DSS DG Lawal Daura also put him on war part with Buhari and the Cabals, a reason Buhari never handed over power to him again. Osinbajo has his own failings, but Buhari and his useless power drunk cabinet members were the ones making all the decision in Government.

No doubt the banditry and herdsman situation worsened under Buhari but it will be disingenuous to say the Boko Haram situation hasn't improved under PMB. Remember how we were all scared to go to public places? Bombs going off in churches, mosques and bus parks.

Below is the terrorism report from 2012 to 2022 abi is the institute for economy and peace also dishing out APC propaganda?
