Dear famzen,

I am posting another snake in a week by one of our fish ponds within the backyard .

Does anyone know any cultural control that won't affect the fishes?

About 6 ponds within the backyard with about 1500 to 2000 fishes? 2plots or there about....

Mods, I don't know if here is the right section.

Pls don't quote me for prayers or senseless answers.

That's one of the parents of the snake you killed the last time. The other parent is still at large with their other children. Be at alert to slaughter the whole family.

You killed two snakes in your surroundings within the space of a week? Lord is your strength! From the shape of the head, that snake is a venomous one. Pls keep all children away from that vicinity till you've properly fumigated that area of reptiles

We fumigate every fortnight but not near the ponds, bananas(snail farm) and the stream. I don't know if anyone knows any cultural /biological control aside chemicals...

Plant lemon grass around you pond and where you live, snakes do not like the smell of lemon grass and they would stay away. My uncle used to have a poultry which was terrorized by forest cobras. After killing the 5th cobra an old woman advice him to plant lemon grass around, and since then not a single snake was sighted around the poultry.

There was this plants my grandpa had around his compound, it scares snakes away, the scent is harmful to any kind of snake

Ask older people in your family they will know about the plants and how to get the seeds, get it and plant it around

Must you kill the snake? You know it only came to hunt for food to eat, do you want it to starve to death? You should have drive it out and apply snake repellent.
