As a car owner you should stop fretting. I have not driven since Sunday. Bolt expects me to do 11 trips on a weekday, to earn their bonus cant go through such stress, given the likely traffic congestion.

Fret ke, what's my own, I just pity for my country. Home now and no light for 2 days. I have fuel on the gen, but can't put it on and I guess you know why. Berger to VI is 1500, multiply it by 2, that's 60k and they will enter bike like 500h. Spent 70k on transport for someone earning 100/150k, is life not having toll on us already?

I feel a bit pain because I was like a car away from getting when they switch to 488. Water won fall for my eyes grin the whole story was being kind of draw back and didn't even drag at the station, giving people pass to enter my front. The whole stress just wasnt for me.

God knows I've always admired these cars but fear no dey gree me buy them.

I mean, forget about getting the parts in Nigeria. You have to always import. Sometimes they use special tools for something as simple as changing spark plugs. To get good hands to repair it is also a problem.

If I ever make up my mind to buy it, will just buy two. One to harvest for parts and the other to be driven.
German cars manufacturers are known for overengineering, they are strong and takes time to breakdown but the expertise to handle them is the major challenge. You are very correct about the special tool for changing spark plugs, even to bleed the cooling system is not straightforward.

Good thing is that the parts that are available are quality.

Did you run the numbers? Let's say you buy 5000 fuel at 184 per litre and gross 25000. You now buy the same quantity of fuel at 19000 and still gross the same 25k. You pay commission of 2500 on indrive or 5000-7500 on bolt. Where is the profit?

Even if you gross 30k on 5k fuel, I'm still not seeing the profit.

Important to also note that fuel can and will go as high as a thousand naira per litre. The higher the price of crude, the higher the price of fuel.

Why are you surprised? Someone here has been reminding us of the outcome of subsidy removal. He has been harmering on it and we all know that very soon subsidy will be removed!

I only pity delivery guys, but then I guess they should join the telegram group, so they can make enough profit even if fuel sells for 1k per litre.

Asides the abracadabra ∆, to be candid I think bolt is better to use now.....though a lot of riders have started complaining bitterly, only God knows how long bolt will hold this down, cos some have started using commercial buses.

Indrive and Rida are still sleeping. Opened Rida this morning and the prices are almost the same....just a slight increase, same as Indrive.

I've not worked for 3 weeks now though. I've been seriously ill. Wanted to start yesterday but couldn't get fuel. Now that it has increased to 488, na to reason wetin to use my life do remain!

Did someone not just say up there that he opened ride and indrive and the prices are still more or less the same with just a slightly increase?

So if the price you paid doubled perhaps becsuse of scarcity and demand. Is that a regular occurence? What will happen when all filing stations start selling. Will indrive still be able to charge double when there's less demand?

Why not just wait for the scarcity to be over? You will know the kind of analysis I'm doing.

The app company would not have any choice than to RESPOND to the price increase by INCREASING their fare price..That is the only way out...There is no way ANY DRIVER can cope with this fuel increase if the app guys continue to maintain the current price..To fill up Corolla now will be like 24k...
The reason, I think why some of the app has not increased their fare is because perhaps they are only seeing or dealing with scarcity. Now it's confirmed, the cheapest fuel you will get is 488 per litre, and it's only NNPC that will sell at that price.Others will probably be more...BRACE UP! The optics is not looking good..
Moreso, riders will decrease significantly. How many rider can take a ride of 7k to work and 14k to and fro, every day! I know many riders that takes Uber only on Monday and maybe Tuesday and the rest na public transport. Now am not sure they will be able to do that anymore...App needs to step up their game, create a system where you can MERGE two riders going towards same route and they both get a 50% discount...Some of the riders I picked regularly to island in the morning have started calling to arrange for daily pick up, offering 5k...Some of them would look for a friend, a neighbour to join and share the trip fare. We must survive somehow.

Majority of your riders are not office people. Salary earners should enter bus, simple. The major users of ehailing will continue to use them no matter the price because they know how to recoup their investment. I'm on my 5th trip today, grossing 27, have not picked any office person and no one has complained

Fuel has been increased by 163% and could easily rise to 500 percent.

By how many percentage will the ehailing companies raise their fare to compensate? Given what I know about Bolt, it's not something to put your hopes on.

I may well be wrong sha

No one has exclusivity to Uber business. Salary easrners can drive too and can use their cars too if Uber becomes the cash cow of this unavoidable inflation.

300percent increase in fuel, one would expect Uber fares to increase by 300percent. But even if that happens, Bolt and Uber will take a whooping 25percent from all that money that you have invested into fuel. That's a loss already.

You that is mocking office workers that earn 150k don't know that they use ehailing and will explore other alternatives if fares tripples. Olosho that takes 20k a night cannot give you half of her night earnings, she will rather take a bus or Korope. So 300percent increase in fares may in turn lead to 300percent decrease in demand.

Inflation is always a vicious circle that knows no bound. Always try and be calming down, always think before talking.

There is something called elasticity of demand. If the price increases by 300%, don't assume demand will keep steady, How many Nigerians, even those working on the Island earn 200K and how many will their employers provide a cost of living adjustment to? Someone earning 200-300K a month, how many times will they be able to afford uber from the mainland to the Island at the expected fare.

Don't assume you'll make more money. An outright 300% hike in an economy where almost everyone uses petrol for something will push many middle class people into poverty which is bad for your business I believe. Probably good new for the danfo guys because they are at the extreme bottom and anybody that wants to commute cannot escape them except you decide to trek or cancel your trip.

The only person that gains here are the ride companies themselves, each time the fare is raised, they get an increase in revenue without suffering the cost increase because they have no asset in the business. The cost of setting up the app is largely a sunk cost, they are only exposed a little to the fuel hike.
