Majority of emailing customers are runs girl who have office jobs as side hustle. You think a hike in fuel will make them stop their business or make them jump buses while wearing skimpy dresses? Dey play.

If their customers are not willing to pay significantly more, they will also have to make adjustments same way regular worker do.

A sharp increase in price will make uber a luxury for many, they cannot give you what they don't have.

15k daily fuel x 26 days is 390k

Nigeria is funny. How can you spend more on fuel than average income of ndi "office"

In contrast, requests will increase. You're not putting into consideration the amount of car owners who will park their cars or sell them off because they can no longer afford them.

Customers have no choice. App companies know this. This is not the first time there has been a sharp increase in fuel prices in the last 5 years. Besides, current prices are comparable to what they are in December/January. If there was going to be a blip, it would have been obvious by now.

Lagos state has no public transportation alternative that would make up for the unaffordability you're talking about which will make riders maintain status quo.

Yo. I'm not successful by thinking average.

If you don't know how to use this information, I cannot help you

I only pity delivery guys, but then I guess they should join the telegram group, so they can make enough profit even if fuel sells for 1k per litre.

Asides the abracadabra ∆, to be candid I think bolt is better to use now.....though a lot of riders have started complaining bitterly, only God knows how long bolt will hold this down, cos some have started using commercial buses.

Indrive and Rida are still sleeping. Opened Rida this morning and the prices are almost the same....just a slight increase, same as Indrive.

I've not worked for 3 weeks now though. I've been seriously ill. Wanted to start yesterday but couldn't get fuel. Now that it has increased to 488, na to reason wetin to use my life do remain!

Yo. I'm not successful by thinking average.

I am not sure where you get your stats from, but driving your car is likely much cheaper than uber.

I recall I used to buy 5k fuel for my corolla some years back to commute to the Island and it last 1 week. At same time a trip to the Island during morning surge was about 2-2.5k. So I could in theory make my fuel money by carrying a passenger to the Island in the morning and at night when coming back. At some point in time, I did the morning one and so riders will pay for the fuel after just 2-3 days of a single morning trip to the Island.

So what you should be concerned is that many car owner will start doing commercial with their cars instead of driving empty to the Island. This is also bad for those doing uber business because they will take lower, all they need is to cover their fuel cost and still provide similar comfort.

No one has exclusivity to Uber business. Salary easrners can drive too and can use their cars too if Uber becomes the cash cow of this unavoidable inflation.

300percent increase in fuel, one would expect Uber fares to increase by 300percent. But even if that happens, Bolt and Uber will take a whooping 25percent from all that money that you have invested into fuel. That's a loss already.

You that is mocking office workers that earn 150k don't know that they use ehailing and will explore other alternatives if fares tripples. Olosho that takes 20k a night cannot give you half of her night earnings, she will rather take a bus or Korope. So 300percent increase in fares may in turn lead to 300percent decrease in demand.

Inflation is always a vicious circle that knows no bound. Always try and be calming down, always think before talking.

Boss I am going with your submission, but like you are missing it as some point. Transportation is essential as food. There will be some sharp change, but remember we live in a country of ostentatious. Friday nights, Saturday and Sunday life won't stop people from taking ride. The corolla you mention is 4m. Part is killing, taking ride ease a lot for workers, driving after work has not been easy on mental stress and beside we are talkin about females not males here. Una barely take rides before.

He think say na everybody no get sense like people liking his dumb post. Only an oluwole "cerfiticate' degree holder, will type nonsense with swag and drop mic.

Now let's analyze the werey submissions.

He first say " 300% increase in fuel price" which simply means fuel is 740/L. Wrong

Then he say "one would expect Uber fares to increase by 300percent" which simply means 1k trips on Uber will now cost 4k. Wrong. Or 5k now costs 20k. This fool thinks he can play with percentages the way he plays with his penis.

Werey come say "So 300percent increase in fares may in turn lead to 300percent decrease in demand"... But werey no know the amount of ehailing users. What werey means is that if there are 1,000,000 riders, they'll drop to 700,000

But the werey, out of bad belle refused to admit that if his 300% increment peppersoup analogy was to be followed, then driver gross earnings should also increase by 300%, which means that people grossing 200k weekly will now gross 800k

That's how stupid he is. You see why I don't take fools serious?

Nigerians aren't ready for this subsidy removal, we were buying for 185/litre and we were complaining bitterly, now that they wanna sell at 480/litre, how do they want the common man to survive, people barely feed on 2k daily, now that fuel has gone up to 480/litre, how can 2k even be enough to cover 3 square meal a day, inflation is about to hit Nigeria so hard and I fear many people will commit suicide due to the hardship that is about to befall Nigerians....

Cheerfulgiver please refrain from quoting that troll. He has no use on this thread than to discourage hustling drivers. Leave him be.

The current situation in Nigeria today as well as this e-hailing hustle requires people like you posting on this thread. Leave the few people who keep liking his posts, they are simply those who have ported to other businesses (which they are always ashamed to share with us here) as well as those who have a personal grudge against you.

It's either the app adjust their prices or we go back to the era of yellow taxi where drivers will have parks and they take numbers on queue while riders come to the park to book them...

Only stupid people will continue to do online trips if prices aren't adjusted....

I think my view is open enough. The airport cab took you to your destination, but what happened next, you don't know. Bolt driver may take same for 4k and his next trip will land him 12k. We never can tell, there's no absolutely being sure about the next move in this business. As a driver, just set your priorities and you will be fine.

NB : not a prof, just feel one can make something out of nothing boss.

People like you will be fast to call a bolt driver thief when he tries to charge you offline for 1k higher than the estimate on bolt and 3k less than the airport taxies despite knowing bolt fare is ridiculously cheap. Some of you will even try to blackmail the driver.while other will use the psychologist tactics- pls it's the last money on me I used to fly... You get 120k to fly Abuja to Lagos for 1hr but you no get ordinary 5k to get home from MM2 to your house abi?
Wickedness, I never fell for this stupid lies or blackmail by riders in my days on ehailing... Oga if you no dey go try the next mumu.
