Come to think of it.... this subsidy thing have been an extreme criminal exercise.

It needed to go. Just that the timing isn't favorable for Naija now.

Looking at how subsidized fuels are being smuggled out to neighboring countries. SMH

I see Benin people complaining over removal of our own subsidy o. Imagine that.

The problem is just that even our law makers and the man that removed subsidy are all criminals. Removing subsidy is a good move, but we can't trust them to use whatever proceeds recovered(if there is any) for the good of the nation.

Now you understand... We are not the ones benefiting from the so called subsidy.

.....nice submissions dear brother. I agree its a challenging moment for most Nigerians, but we need to make the sacrifice for greater good.

I hope and pray Tinubu doesn’t let us down, especially some of us that believe in him so much that he can do it.

“Your swearing-in as the 16th President of this great country was a result of the fulfilment of destiny, the people’s will and, the wish of God Almighty who made it possible (for you) to assume the mantle of leadership.

“From your antecedent, we have no doubt that you will excel in this position and fulfil your mandate to Nigerians. We, however, plead with Your Excellency to give more priority to youth development in this country,” the monarch said.

Isn't smuggling a crime?Who owns the blame for being so laxed in handling and punishing violators?

If subsidy is being removed because they can't put an end to smuggling(crime).then they are too incompetent to handle the position

Fuel are sold at actual price in country that doesn't have to worry about light or having approximate meagre 30k as minimum wage...

We have crude in abundance compared to several other countries but leaving in extreme poverty...

Don't mind the fools. Talking about "good news" when the citizens are experiencing serious inconveniences right now.

How stupid can these demons be?

Removing subsidy because unscrupulous elements smuggle fuel across the boarder is a silly thing to do.

It’s like those of us who attended government schools where name of sweepers per week are pasted boldly on the wall . Then a teacher Walks into the class , meets the class dirty and instead of calling out names of sweepers for that particular day (who failed to sweep and made the class dirty) ; he decides to punish the whole class including those that swept when it was their turn.

Nigeria customs are one of the best paid para military units in Nigeria , yet they are corrupt as they come . A serious government will task the Nigerian customs and their immigration partners to reduce to the nearest minimum smuggling activities across our boarders within a certain period or their bosses face the axe
..

But no! The common man must always bear the brunt for an inefficient system in this country . The common man must be punished for being a common man . The common man should suffer cos NNPC does not have an accurate figure of our daily fuel consumption(which gives room for oil marketers to game the system) , the common man must suffer the consequences of senior customs officials opening up smuggling routes which allows smugglers carry on their business and remit what’s due to the customs guys, the common man who is already alarmed with almost 40% unemployment rate must still find way to understand that 30 billion needs to be paid NASS members as severance package but the FG does not have the funds to make his life easy by making fuel available to him at a reduced price on his meagre income .

CBN Governor has security of tenure. He can only leave of his own volition or at the end of his tenure

That's why GEJ couldn't sack Sanusi though he wished to

Solution is to withdraw his security detail and watch him resign voluntarily

The way una dey use derogatory words on una selves here is saddening.

Make we try up the standard here by keeping our emotions in check. This tread is one of the most educative threads on Nairaland.

The way our positions on issues keep changing is befuddling some months back you were in support of subsidy removal and your wish has been granted by the new Sheriff and it's now you remember that the masses will suffer, may God cure us of our insincerity because that's one of the things affecting our growth and development.
As for me my position still remains our economy is fuel driven and hurriedly implementing the removal of subsidy few months after the cash crunch is not good. However, I will adjust to the new reality while calling for others to do same and exercise patience and restraint.

"Emotions in check" when demons that are far removed from our reality consistently mock our situations?? Do you know how insulting and condescending it is?

Yar'adua didn't get the chance..man was sick from the start of his administration.

Buhari stop fuel subsidy, but drop the balls on the intended May removal date.

Tinubu said it during his campaign, announced the removal during his inauguration and still stand by it....He gat the balls none of those you mentioned has.

On Obj....who started the so called fuel subsidy in the first place?
