This is what happens when you put aside something that should have been done for decades till it gets too too worse.

This subsidy of a thing should have gone since 1993, if not earlier. By now, we would have adjusted, and moved on. Instead, we are facing the thing we should have faced decades ago.

Anyway it is gone for good now, hopefully. And yeah high prices are very painful.....but the pain of being so broke that no one would give you any more loans....as seen in Sri Lanka recently....is far far worse.
who failed to build refineries? Govt. Who introduced subsidy? Govt. Don't be a man of the bandwagon effect. This is a very very wrong policy.

Very soon, your children might not be able to eat 50 naira chin chin again. 50 naira biscuits and chinchin might become a thing of the past if care is not taken in Nigeria. If flour prices increase again due to fuel subsidy removal, bread will become unaffordable for many Nigerians. Start praying that fuel price will reduce to at least 300 naira. Cheers.
Flour may increase but not too much. The Ukrainian invasion sent it high and that's understandable but cost of transporting it is marginal and not that heavy.

So you think that governemt should force businesses to operate at a loss to help the poor.

It was tried before in what used to be communist countries. They all collapsed as a result or went free market

Marketers have to sell at a profit because millions of Nigerians who help.bring you the petrol have to make a decent living. Not just the cabals.

It seems you want to deny them that right, Comrade Leader
have they ever been operating at a loss? Pls tell us when.

You just keep mumbling words together. What exactly does communism, Nazi, National socialist have to do with your lies? Why introduce labels if not because you're a propaganda machine?

If you're poor, then one can understand why you're looking to pull more people into your bracket through helping the government to fleece them off their monies through oil cabals.

Which filing stations closed? Do you disagree that we have more functional filling stations all over Nigeria than we have churches and mosques combined? Give me a yes or no not some vague answer.
Corruption is rife under subsidy because Nigerian leaders live, eat and breath Corruption.
Was there subsidy in aviation before the former minister scammed us with Nigeria Air?
Is it subsidy that made a former accountant General swallow 80bn like tom-tom?
Tell your story to the marines
God bless you abundantly.

You have been forced to suffer, your leaders have been enjoying since when you were born, while most Nigerians have been suffering. Even with Fuel subsidy Nigeria is the poverty capital of the world, the second most terrorised country in the world and one of the country with the lowest life expectancy. Suffering is what Nigerians are used to. Removing subsidy unfortunately will only worsen the situation. There is nothing much Tinubu can do to make things get better, he hasn't shown that he can do much for now.

The first time Buhari rule this country 1984 the prices of goods and food stuff rose up but after he left when IBB push him away and managed the economy the way he can the prices of goods and food stuffs reduce so if Tinubu can really manage the economy everything will come down except if he fails

The money recovered by not paying subsidy will still be looted. Same thing with Nigerian customs. Customs increased fuel cost to generate more revenue. The 1.2 trillion per year that’s generated from customs how has it affected the common man? Instead it made prices of goods and services more expensive, cars more expensive. Same thing with subsidy. It will make everything more expensive and it money recovered will be looted too just like customs. Are the oil cabals better than Nigeria? Who are they? Why can’t we have functioning refineries?why can’t tinubu repair the refineries once and for all? Why can’t Nigeria government pay the right amount for subsidy? Subsidy removal or not, people will still loot the money.

It was done in 2012 by Goodluck Jonathan Administration but Tinubu, Buhari, Osho baba and their allys protested but all of them kept mute now, that would have been a better time to remove subsidy and the price would have been less than 100 naira but the evil politicians fought so hard

So government should seize peoples lands and resources in the name of capitalism and then drain the resources (crude in this case), with the attendant environmental and social destruction to the owners of the land, and then shout "government is not in the business of business" when told to account for how they use the resources or at least allow the people with the resources enjoy the benefits of their resources. Is that communism or capitalism?

We're not going back to the dark days Petrol was subsidize

Which Nigerians are ready to suffer, why are the ruling class not ready to suffer.
Since Nigeria has been declared broke, national assemblies should fit the bill of their bogus lifestyle, they should buy their own vehicle from their salary, buy their furnitures too, the president and ministers should do same. What about the security votes they collect for doing nothing.

Don't mind them. Ask him if the political elites are ready to suffer now to enjoy later? Are they ready to sacrifice their furniture allowance, newspaper allowance, constituency projects, wardrobe allowance, petrol allowance, etc? Is it only the already impoverished masses that is required to sacrifice? The political class is lucky that we are a very docile people, this kind of thing would lead to a revolution anywhere else in the world.

If same tinubu could protest and force Jonathan to drop subsidy removal, he must be made to have a rethink too. Know this hard fact, this policy will only make you suffer while the rich will keep smiling to the bank. I support the protest 💯% . If they want to remove subsidy, they know what to do. NNPC must hands off importation of petroleum products. NNPC is the rich's conduit pipe.

Again, tell them to sell all our refineries and stop carrying out fake TAM every time, which always enriches them and issue more refinery licences. You'd see fuel price drop to less than 200 naira. Our consumption isn't much. We shouldn't be suffering as an oil producing nation. At the new price .Nigeria is buying at same pump price as USA....a poor nation as ours. USA sells at 1.02usd per liter

I remember a time I was telling my friend from Taraba state in 2000, that if Nitel could be privatised and companies were issued licence to operate telecoms, almost everyone would have a phone in their house. I didn't even have a deep knowledge of how GSM operated that time. See what's happening today? A cart pusher has at least, one GSM phone.

Tinubu knows what to do. I knew his government won't favour the masses and that's why i didn't waste my time voting him. My worry is his pioicy because that's where I'm going to be affected in a way. He's not there to govern but to register his name as one of the presidents who once ruled Nigeria.

Govt never set any price for anyone.
What happened with petrol subsidy was a case of the govt picks a price and pays you what ever difference is between theirs and your final price. The subsidy was being paid as claimed by marketers. Govt never forced anyone to sell at a loss. What the marketers wanted was the space to make claims for bogus profits and when that didn't materialize, smuggling out to sell at higher prices than govt subsidized rate within Nigeria was the only option.
That's why Buhari tried to make NNPC the sole importer of fuel or force any other importer to not claim they are bringing in their above NNPC's imported fuel price.

Stop lying around dude.
