In the Iranian media, the commander of the Iranian Navy is quoted as saying that his country is planning to establish a naval alliance, together with several Arab countries.

Navy Commander Shahram Irani said that "countries in the region understand that only cooperation between them will bring security to the region", and apart from saying that a naval alliance will be established soon - he did not elaborate on how it would work.

The commander of the Iranian Navy noted that Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Bahrain, among others, should take part in that alliance.

Swiss authorities are investigating a cyber attack on the IT company Xplain, whose clients include many federal and cantonal government departments, including the army and customs.

The online attack was revealed on Saturday by the newspaper Le Temps, which reported that "several cantonal police forces, the Swiss army and the Federal Office of Police (Fedpol) have been indirectly affected".

IDF officials say one of the big concerns resulting from today's deadly incident on the Egyptian border is how long it took for commanders in the field to discover what had happened to the two soldiers who first went to check on the border disturbance.

It was hours before they were found dead.

Had it been an abduction of Israeli soldiers, they would have been deep into enemy territory before the IDF had a chance to respond.

Lia Ben Nun was just 19 years old, and one year into her IDF service, when she was shot dead on the border with Egypt this morning.

The Israel-Egypt border is patrolled by a mixed male-female combat unit known as Karakal. Their job is primarily to combat drug smuggling by Bedouin and terrorist organizations.

But they must also protect the nation against enemy infiltrations and act as a first line of defense.

If I believed in hell, I would have thanked the soldier for sending this young terrorist to one. Once again, kudos to the police officer. Can you imagine? It took 3 dead and 2 injured IDF to kill a mere policeman. This goes to show the difference between a balanced fight and the killing of unarmed Palestinians (ezpecially children and journalists).

Hamas was reluctant to praise yesterday’s attack on the Egypt border given its own difficult relationship with Cairo.

But today Hamas media did celebrate the attack with political cartoons.

According to Hamas, the attack proves that the peace between Israel and Egypt is only temporary, or even a ruse, and that sooner rather than later all of the Arab world will rise up against Israel.
