Not sure about your stats but you must know that during his tenure GEJ government earned far more from crude oil sales than PMB. You must also know that unlike GEJ, PMB dealt with several global economic crises; Covid 19, consequential break down in global supply chain due to China's zero covid policy and of course the Ukraine war.

Basically when you have this amount of economic shock people will either cut their coats to size, take up violence or a social vice e.g betting or hookup.

Without making excuses for anyone, the rise in violence and the drop in morality are a direct result of a poor economy.

When you talk about assassinations you also have to look at how they are distributed around the country. You will find that in areas where there is social unrest e.g. Delta pre NDDC and SE particulary Imo and Anambra during the rise of UGM.

Bottom line, there is a reason behind the rise in criminality and it usually is connected to an absence of hope matched with a refusal to make economic sacrifice.

What else can this be if not political? Senseless killings is the bane of a corrupt ,drug infested regime. If you conduct an investigation now you will realize the lecturer had some disagreement or wanted to expose some political persons

the regime just started and we have had similar assassination in the past regime in different areas of the country alot in the east.

We need to drop assumptions and bias and apply better logic or facts.

Most times, like 90% of the time, its Easterners THAT LIVE, WORK and MAKE SOME MONEY in the West, that spit out this horrible trash!!!

How dare you compare the West to your sitting at home every Monday, and gully erosion damned, with riotous gun-totting brigands, alongside Mkpuri muri smokers, land, the East

Instead of saying just a word of consolation to the bereaved family, you turn every discussion to tribal show, and your tribe is ALWAYS coming worse-off....Heck, even the South southerners want nothing to do with you and your terrible drug-running clan.....

I didn't mention any tribe, but seriously some contributors have to be cautioned!!!! This is getting out of hand!

It's even senseless you had to drag unnecessary geopolitical zone into your disjointed tirades in a bid to clap back.

Check yourself inside out and asks your rodents spamming every thread with senseless attacks on insecurity issues involving a certain tribe like crime is only commited in one section of the country.

I don't even see these senseless goons empathising with the people of Benue state because their own definition of insecurity only exists along a certain tribe.

As for demanding that we say a word and move on, rest assured it's not your prerogative to command others and demand that a certain social ethics be adhered to strictly.

Your erosion garbage and sit @ home nonsense actually don't worth entertaining.

Be guided accordingly.

It's so sad to read this comment from you...you need to do better bro....we talking human life here

I'm not laughing because the man was killed. I Only laughed because some deluded peeps don't really understand that Nigeria is not safe from every stretch of the imagination.

Those peeps are most vocal to call out a certain tribe in demeaning manners over insecurity whereas same issue exists in their own space.

How can a Covid argument be weak - lol? In what universe has there been anything worse for the global economy? How long did Ebola last? was it a global pandemic? Did it shut down global supply chains?

I hate to say this, but you are not well-informed and I am trying to be very polite. It's fine to be naked in your own room - that's your personal thing - but to be intellectually naked in public is a social disturbance!

Ebola impacted the economies of only three countries - all in Africa; Guinea, Liberia, and Sierra Leone and the cost to their combined GDP was $2.2bn whereas losses from COVID-19 were distributed globally and amounted to not less than $8.5 trillion Even air traffic showed the impact on global transport and trade on 7 March at 15:00 UTC there were 15,012 flights in the air to 7 April when covid was advancing there were just 5,275.

You simply cannot compare the two periods of GEJ and PMB from an economic inflow perspective. Not at all. )This does not make one leader better than the other (because I know how the oversimplified mind of Nigerian works aka EPL thinking) It simply means they were faced with completely different challenges.

I will ignore the quip about Yoruba obas - I am not doing ethnic slurs with you. I just want you to use your brain to think!

There are killings everywhere to be candid. Even more killings in the North than the whole of other regions combined. But what I take exception to, is the euphemistic nature of peoples allusion to IPOB’s atrocities in the East. We saw how they dealt with non-complaints of their sit-at home orders. It shouldn’t be by force

Personally I am sad over all the killings going on in the entire country and I wish I have a way of bringing all the perpetrators to book.
The sad fact though is that here on nairaland its meant to look as though bad things happens only in the East!
As for IPOB, I will be very honest about my opinion on their activities in the East. I am saddened by what the East has become. But be that as it may, the Nigerian government failed to manage the issue of IPOB with sense and reasoning thinking they would just kill off Igbo youths who were only protesting initially. The security forces kept shooting at them until they decided to get armed.
Do you think Yardua would treat the issue of IPOB the way buhari did? The answer is No! Yardua would have used wisdom, and it would not have degenerated into what it is today!
I pray God gives Tinubu or whoever rules the country the wisdom to rule with Justice and Fairness which was alien to buhari and his co-travellers.
