Adamawa Assembly Approves Gov Fintiri's Request To Appoint 50 Special Advisers by nairalandkachy1(op): 4:23pm On Jun 06, 2023

The Adamawa State House of Assembly on Tuesday granted approval to Governor Ahmadu Fintiri to appoint 50 special advisers.

The approval is consequent upon a letter by Governor Fintiri requesting the Assembly for a go-ahead to appoint the advisers.

The approval of the Assembly, given at Tuesday’s session, has been described as a breath of life into the new government of returning Ahmadu Fintiri, whose only appointee so far is a press secretary.

Fintiri has been laying low since the announcement of Mr Humwashi Wonosikou as press secretary during his inauguration dinner on May 29.

Fintiri’s inactivity had been blamed on the loss of his cousin, Malama Laraba Mamman who had died in a road crash while travelling to his inauguration.

I would understand if states like Lagos and Rivers want a lot of SAs. What I don't understand is these RMFAC surviving states doing so. At the end of the day, the state's IGR would remain the same, and more debt would be accrued from servicing these guys. They do this because there's always money to go obtain in Abuja every 23rd of a month. This is specifically why we have to seriously consider fiscal federalism. If every state survived on what they earned, 90% of these governors wouldn't even want to be governors.
