The Department of State Services (DSS) has filed terrorism charges against Godwin Emefiele, the suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

The charges allege that Emefiele authorized payments to terrorist organizations in Afghanistan. Emefiele has denied the charges.

The DSS filed the charges in a Federal High Court in Abuja on June 10, 2023. The charges allege that Emefiele authorized payments of $100 million to the Taliban in Afghanistan in 2021. The payments were allegedly made in exchange for the release of two Nigerian hostages.

Emefiele has denied the charges. He has said that he did not authorize any payments to the Taliban. He has also said that he was not aware that the hostages were being held by the Taliban.

The DSS has not released any evidence to support the charges. The agency has also not said why it waited until 2023 to file the charges.

Emefiele's lawyers have filed a bail application. The court has not yet ruled on the application.

Wao. If all these allegations are true, then I won't be surprised that these cabals are also behind northern insurgencies through their foot soldiers in other to milk the country die. Remember that those iswap wing of terrorists flaunting millions of new packs of emefiele colored naira notes when over 98 percent of Nigerians have not even seen it talkless of touching it. They claimed that they have it in abundance and in bulks and they have access to it anytime. How did they get them so fast? Gumi is a friend of emefiele. BH negotiator that was arrested then was his friend, add 2 plus 2 together. Now over $100m transferred to Talibans. Hope he is not part of those sponsoring UGM too.
Hope they have enough evidences.
My only problem is that tinubu should not bow to pressure to release him cos sooner all those strong underground cabals that are using him will want to use proxy to persuade those emirs and leaders to intervene so that their secrets won't leak out.
Tinubu should strengthen all those agencies now and make everything public. No more PADI PADI elite interventions that has ruined this country judicial system.

This emiefele is a big fool. He was used as a tool to frustrate tinubu from winning the election. First thing he should have done after tinubu won was to resign and relocate just like diezani and other fraudulent government officials before him. Now he's going to spend years in prison and buhari cannot save him.

Political appointments in Nigeria is like a double edged sword against you!

As much as I'm in no way a fan of Emefiele but the 100% of the whole thing is, whatever Emefiele did was 100% authorised by the Emperor himself. If he ever goes down (which will NOT happen - (he knows a lot (State Secret/Nation Security) to go down just like that), the Emperor will as well go down which too will NEVER happen.

Before you crucify Emefiele, remember the Emperor got a loan for the settlement of some judgement debt like few weeks to the end of his tenure. They just WOULDN'T want Emefiele to sing to the press about that loan. Whatever is happening now, "THEY WANT EMEFIELE OUT OF CIRCULATION" for the mean time!

So, dont get too excited, the STATUS QUO hasn't changed rather the DRIVER of the STATUS QUO changed!

***LAST LAST.. As nothing happened to Dezani, nothing too will happen to Emefiele. The new emperor wants to show WORKING. It's the GAME!

Emefiele used the economy of Nigeria to gamble.

Then when he knew he had completely bleeped up big time, he wanted to become president so that he can become immune to arrest and then in power, cover all his atrocities and everything would have passed away.

I didn't like the Idea of Tinubu becoming president at first but, when I remembered Abacha was used to remove the then Sultan of Sokoto, I knew a mad man will always be the best to be used to remove a mad man.

Tinubu in this context has good madness and that is what will benefit the country right now.
If it was a Peter Obi that won, all of these atrocities would have been covered because he would have been shaking under the control of the cabal for another couple of years

The day Buhari gets arrested and proved guilty for all his evils and he bags a life imprisonment or death sentence, Tinubu will forever be named the best President Nigeria will ever have.

If true, I can only think of two reason why he did such act. Either the payment was authorised by Buhari ( Buhari is a Jihadist) or his family was held hostage in a foreign country and he had no choice but to make the payment for their release.

We await further investigations, he is still innocent until proven guilty by the court.

Seems the style is now to charge innocent people whom the government do not like with trumped up terrorism allegations knowing that our judicial system is very slow and the person would have rotted in detention while the courts take years to adjudicate on the matter. These are serious allegations. From his response to the allegations, it is established that some persons were held hostage and monies were paid to terrorists for there release. In all these, I don't think the ex CBN Governor is completely innocent.
