The National Universities Commission (NUC) last week, issued provisional licenses to thirty-seven Private Universities across the Federation.

Amongst the proprietors are three (3) former Governors.

Donald Duke, a former Governor of Cross River State (1999-2007), received a provisional license to operate a Private University.

THE DUKE MEDICAL UNIVERSITY, CALABAR, CROSS RIVER STATE.

Attahiru Dalhatu Bafarawa is a former Governor of Sokoto State (1999-2007)

Operational license for AMAJ UNIVERSITY, KWALI, FCT-ABUJA.

The APC National Chairman who is a former Nasarawa State Governor (1999-2007) was also unveiled as the Chairman, Board of Trustees for PHOENIX UNIVERSITY, AGWADA, KOKONA LGA, NASARAWA STATE.

Professor Abubakar Adamu Gwarzo also obtained license for his 3rd and 4th Universities.

The 44-year old billionaire who holds a PhD in French linguistics obtained provisional licenses for Franco-British International University, Kaduna and Canadian University of Nigeria, FCT making it his 4th Private University.

He had founded:

1. Maryam Abacha American University of Niger, Maradi (2013)

2. Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria, Kano (2021)

A former Bayelsa State Governor (2012-2020) and currently Senator, Bayelsa West Senatorial District, Henry Seriake Dickson also received provisional clearance for HENSARD UNIVERSITY, TORU ORUA, SAGBAMA LGA, BAYELSA STATE.

The British Canadian University in Obudu, Cross River State was built by immediate past Governor of Cross River State, Benedict Ayade.

This is why these people would rather die, than make frantic efforts towards the resuscitation and funding of public unis. Everyone wants to take advantage of the dysfunctional system to cashout

Good, if not for anything at least it will generate employment and increase literacy level. Southeast leaders equally need to invest in education in that region so as to reduce the unnecessary migration of able-bodied young people to Lagos just with the aim of selling gala. Every Nigerians deserve quality education.
