During a session at the Nigerian Senate, Senator Adamu Muhammad Bulkachuwa caused a stir when he narrated how he ensured his wife helped some of his colleagues whilst she was in Office.

(I want to thank) Particularly, my wife whose freedom and independence I encroached upon whilst she was in office.

And she had been very tolerant and accepted my encroachment and extended her help to my colleagues.

However, a livid Senate President, Ahmad Lawan cut in sharply: Please Distinguished, I don't think it's a good idea going in this direction, it's not a good idea.

Senator Bulkachuwa was elected Senator for Bauchi North under the All Progressives Congress, APC in 2019. He defected to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in 2022.

He is married to Rtd Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa, the first female President of Nigeria's Appeal Court from April 17, 2014 until her retirement on March 06, 2020.

Recall that the main opposition, PDP and its Presidential Candidate, Atiku Abubakar, had in 2019, filed an application asking Justice Bulkachuwa to recuse herself from the PEPT hearing their petition, against the re-election of President Muhammadu Buhari.

The PDP & Atiku argued that her husband been a card-carrying member of the APC will bear some elements of bias. She did recuse herself with her nominee, Justice Mohammed Lawal Garba (now in the Supreme Court) taking her place.

No matter what Nigerian politicians do they're all thieves..

If it was in a sane country, Mr&Mrs Bulkachuwa won't sleep in their bed this night

But I'm sure these man somehow thinks he's above the laws of the land

As it stands he is above the law. The justice system is very selective and that is what we suffer as a country.
