In the Next two decades, Student Loan Forgiveness will be an election campaign promise. Watch out.

The reason will be that Nigerians who took the loan won't pay voluntarily. They will see it as their share of the National Cake and hence start demanding a write-off.

The politicians and parties seeking Presidency will start making demagoguery cases for loan forgiveness such as the followings:

1. Many people were forced to take out large amounts of student loans to pursue a college education, which has since become a burden on their financial future.

2. This debt hinders their ability to save, pay rent, or start a business, limiting their economic mobility and contributing to wealth inequality.

3. The cost of higher education continues to rise, making it even more difficult for future generations to access the education and opportunities they need to succeed.

4. Forgiving student loan debt would provide immediate relief to millions of Nigerians, allowing them to live with more financial security and invest in their futures.

5. This could lead to increased consumer spending, economic growth, and a stronger workforce, benefiting us all in the long run.

Finally, trust our politicians to do and say anything to win elections.

Our orientation does not support students loan at this moment the country is highly indebted to local and international loans.

Student loans will be the next fuel subsidy.

First, it is important to state that the student loan scheme is a ploy to introduce tuition to Federal Universities and further make it inaccessible.

Second, without fixing the economy to create employment opportunities, this Student loans scheme will end like subsidy on petroleum. With Federal Universities tuition going up, Northerners and Southerners will COMPETE in enrolling both qualified and unqualified candidates in the use of the loan as a way to benefit from national cake.

Eventually, millions of unemployed and unemployable graduates will be unable to repay the loan. Ultimately, the World Bank and IMF will 'advise' FG to stop the loan scheme because trillions of Naira remain unrecovered.

NB - We don't have to copy and paste other countries programs. Let us develop home-grown ideas to meet our needs.
