You are fixated on the advantage of collecting loan to buy a house you cannot afford and you will end up paying x5 of the actual cost of the house. Meanwhile if you default, the mortgage company will forclose and you loose every penny you ever paid. It's slavery actually. I rather save and buy my house/build my house.

Even if your grandfather's friends collected mortgage without the means to pay back they will end up losing the house and their contribution.
