It is very bad. Reason we lack proper synergy between the security agencies. But in this case, you can never blame them. It is a widely acceptable standard everywhere for a military general to be appointed NSA.

The role of the NSA is more that a STRATEGIC security adviser than of an OPERATIONS military (or security) adviser. Nonetheless, if the military cannot work with ANYONE appointed by the President, it merely betrays FUNDAMENTAL weakness of our institutions (and a lack of professionalism among the top military ranks).

The NSA during Abacha was a retired policeman and he performed better than the recent ones.

We've had two retired policemen as NSA; also a retired Colonel. Ribadu is going to perform that function as Special Adviser, Security to the president. That's Tinubu's style.

It’s high time Nigeria military get it into their thick skull that under democratic rule they aren’t superior to the civil authority.

Abacha was a Military General with several caucus and secret operatives.. a Military person as the Head could comfortably appoint whoever he likes without other Army Officers revolting.

Present day is a different case.. we are running a democracy now with Civilian as Head of government, it's fair to allow a competent Military person oversee security so the whole security architecture of the country won't be in jeopardy.
