Reflect7: Why the toxic language? The earlier you face the truth, the better.
First, do you realize that the Portuguese you are trying to cite were only in Africa for business/explorative reasons. These were the major facilitators of Africa slave trade. They respected Africa so much they had them sell their people for guns, umbrellas, rums, hot drinks, etc. Even leaving ancient European reportage asides, what do our non-committal history teach us of our ancient religions? Are we going to lie that killing of twins didn't exist? Are we going to lie that human sacrifices didn't exist (with remnants of such practices lingering till date)? Are we going to assume that these religions didn't have abhorent festivals, practices, assumptions (with some of these cultures lingering till date)?
The British colonialists (not missionaries) were only out to exploit Nigeria. Of course, they were more violent than the Portuguese. No one is making them a moral lighthouse. They were bad! Ancient Africa wasn't necessarily better. |

Reflect7: I'm still finding it hard to beleive that l grew up beleiving this invented story of Jesus Christ for decades. I now understand some years back when l said to a group of young adults in a church that we should not forget about the coming back of Jesus Christ and one of the young adult who organised the group gave me a weird look. 1 Like |

In statistics and simple logic infact it's very wrong to make any general conclusion based on outliers. How many percent of them practice IFA ? |

waynetee: Soooo, why haven't Africa gone to space, or invented AI, or self-drive like Teslar, or airplanes, or cars, or Apple, Microsoft, Google, Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Linked-in, the stock market, bonds, Bitcoin, etc. One thing we're good at is religion - we even invented gods, infact we make them with our own hands, as you can see below!

PoliteActivist: False religion of yoruba people. It is based on tales, fictions , superstition and fear of dead. Ifa tales are fables and based on oral traditions that cannot be proven. Dirty religion. |

joyandfaith: [i]Ifa is the true words of Olodumare (God) to his people, the yorubas. Orunmila was the Messenger of Olodumare, who brought Ifa to the yorubas, similar to how Jesus Christ brought the bible to the Christians and Muhammed brought the Koran to the Muslims. Sango, Ogun, Obatala, Yemoja, Osun ati bebelo are not "Gods" as someone here will have us believe, that their stolen effigies were actually Gods when in fact, those figurines were merely physical representations of their "special" spirituality. They are not Gods but "orisas" - special chosen ones, like Saints. IFA is not all about spirituality but it contains spirituality as it does contains all aspects of human endeavours . Basically, it's the moral compass that the yorubas relied on for solution when confronted with adversities. FUN FACT: The Koran has 6,666 verses/chapters starting with "Bissimilai" whilst the Bible (both Old & New testament) has 35, 527 verses or chapters however IFA is made up of 430,088 verses. So in essence, IFA predates both the Bible and the Koran!/i] |

akakurukukaku: Well, they were not just symbolic otherwise we'd have easily made another one. Example, Jesus statutes are symbolic - they sell them in the market, and I can make one myself if I want. No, those statues were the gods themselves - terrible and fearsome, and you dared not approach them, not to talk of look at them unless fortified, and women and children dared not set eyes on them! Yet here they are, on display in some museum for all to see. So much for that!

akakurukukaku: Well, if you notice, OP said African gods are vengeful, no forgiveness, and consequences are immediate - which is why he is advocating using them in swearing on in instead of the Bible. Christians never made any such claims about God |

akakurukukaku: Don’t mind these brainwashed fools. When churches are bombed and Christians massacred, they never say “Ah see! They are bombing the churches and killing pastors and Christians in it. So Jesus must be useless and fake”. They NEVER say that. But when African religion meets some misfortune, they shout “Look! See? Why can’t the so called gods defend themselves?” In psychology, adopting double standards in identical situations is one of the major signs of brainwashing. 2 Likes |

PoliteActivist: LIAR. YOUR IMPORTED white fairytale god Jesus SAYS “Ask and you shall receive”. “Believe in me and you can move a mountain” But you ask and ask and ask and you NEVER receive any damn thing, which is why poverty is so rife. Order a mountain to move nau! Your imported fake ‘holy’ book is FILLED with lies, wicked and evil acts committed by your bible god WHO DEFINITELY IS NOT GOD since GOD cannot be a murderer who orders rape, mass murder, and looting, as your nasty god does in your nasty, blood-soaked Old Testament. |

I love when these illiterates package their ignorance and share it for the world to see. Where exactly are the oyinbos? These are Hispanics from Cuba and they are not worshipping Ifa, they are practicing Santeria which is a Cuban religion that mixes Orisha worship brought to Cuba by Yoruba slaves with Roman Catholicism. If you love it so much, practice it on yourself and your family and leave the rest of us to follow our conscience as best as we can. Christianity is not a White man's religion. Africans were practicing Christianity when the British were still living in caves like barbarians. Reflect7: |

TruthHurts1: Look at this air head. He sees Caucasians using an IFA DIVINATION TRAY, Opon IFA, and he says it is not IFA. I bet your colonised head hasn’t the slightest clue what an Opon IFA is. Mumu. A few people in Ethiopia practicing Christianity in ancient times having been deceived by the Romans, doesn’t mean Africans cared or knew about Christianity. 1 Like |

PoliteActivist: YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT AFRICAN RELIGION, so SHUSH. Individuals at home carved images of deities to place on their altars in their courtyards. They were thousands and probably millions of such images. They were symbolic just like your church paintings and cross are symbolic. Ignoramus talking rubbish. Plus 95% of the artefacts looted were NOT religious artefacts representing deities. They were bronze works from Benin, Ife etc which depicted kings and soldiers etc. |

Re: Oyinbos Practising IFA While We Carry Bible by Reflect7: 3:19pm On Jun 18, 2023 |
joyandfaith: Surely you must be mistaking Christianity for IFA. Fear of death? That’s Christianity’s specialisation. With their evil false claim that if you don’t worship their fairytale white blonde, the Supreme Being will burn in you in fire forever. What type of sadistic and devilish religion is that? That is just pure blackmail to make you feel compelled to worship their false god out of FEAR. Christianity also lies that once you die, your soul dies and you only live again when you are ‘resurrected’ in future by ‘Jesus’. A total LIE. IFA says the truth, which is that when we die, we retain our consciousness as immortal souls and return to the land of the ancestors, which we call heaven. That’s even being confirmed by numerous accounts of near-death experiencers who say they left their bodies after clinical death and were fully aware and could see everything while out of body. Thousands of such accounts from the world over cannot be wrong. Superstition? Your bible is FILLED with superstition and falsehoods from Jonah living in a shark’s belly for 40 days to ‘Jesus’ changing 2 fishes to 1,000, before flying up into heaven from a dinner table. IFA makes sense. Christianity is utter nonsense. Adults can be converted to IFA because it makes sense. An adult in full control of his faculties can never be converted to Christianity because the story is utter rubbish from start to finish. |

TruthHurts1: You are a friggin’ peabrain if you think a Caucasian is no longer a Caucasian because he supposedly lives in Brazil or Cuba. Are you even aware the invading Europeans conducted ethnic cleansing in the Americas? Recent immigrant who heard the word ‘Hispanic’ yesterday and now thinks he knows anything. You have no clue who Hispanics are. Go and drink more blood of Jesus or eat his body or some other barbaric, cannibalistic rituals you engage in in your churches. |

Reflect7: YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT AFRICAN RELIGION, so SHUSH Plus you are lying to boot. Nobody had image of Ogun or Amadiha at home. They were deep in the forest, in their shrine, accessible only to their priests and certain elders. Just as we believe egungun are the real spirits of the ancestors, not some funny-looking masquerade - which is actually what they are! Genius talking rubbish. Africans didn't do "symbolic" for the most part. They didn't believe in a god you can't see. That statue itself was the god - that's what you swear to! It had magical powers (we believed) Who said everything they stole were gids??! |
Re: Oyinbos Practising IFA While We Carry Bible by Reflect7: 4:04pm On Jun 18, 2023 |
MindHacker9009: Thank you. Same way our pre colonial ancestors rejected those Christian stories because they made no sense to them. That was when the British decided to use economic blackmail to FORCE them, by insisting that to enter the schools, their children had to drop their religion and be ‘baptised’ as Christians. There was no choice given by the evil invaders. That’s why these mentally colonised Nigerians today are still carrying ‘Jesus’ on their heads like gala. 1 Like |

PoliteActivist: Small boy of yesterday, What do you know? Everyone who knows anything about African religion knows that Africans carved images of deities at home and set up altars in their courtyard. They did not travel to a distant oracle to worship daily. They did it at HOME, and only visited a priest when they had a specific problem. Blasted airhead. And no, the images were symbolic and not regarded as actual living beings! Africans believed in God even without seeing God, and carved no images of God. So you lied. Go and buy a history book and LEARN, because you know nothing. Olodo! |

Reflect7:Study Bible to know what true Christianity is all about. Christianity is not based on fables like ifa. Bible contains what you need to know about real Christianity. Teaching of fear of dead ones, worship of dead, burning fire, immortality of soul etc are based on fables from ancient afro-asian religious practices. |
