-People in that country don't believe in hard work

-They rely on tourism

-Prostitution is rampant

-People there don't value education

-They're very racist

-Indians own most of the businesses

-Indians have to use local light skinned or Chinese looking people to run their business, so that locals will buy from them

-Drug use is a major problem there

-People in the country think transvestites are normal/acceptable/beautiful

-There are tons of transvestites, and many with extreme surgery to look female

Op thanks for this awesome thread. Please any update will be appreciated.

Specifically, please can you give a detailed expense budget needed to come into Thailand as a student. You can cover the following:

1)Average annual tuition fee for an affordable University (I know you mentioned it before, but please throw more light on how the instalment tuition payment works)

2)Student visa application fee

3) minimum account balance needed for visa application

4)Flight ticket

5)Any other expense

Also, please currently, how easy it is as a NIGERIAN to get an English teaching job? I already have a BSc degree, IELTS and a TEFL certificate.

Thanks alot as I await your response.

Anyone studying in Thailand??

Hi, everyone. I almost got scammed.

If you're looking to work as a teacher in Thailand, ensure you keep your eyes wide open and scrutinize the recruitment agency thoroughly. Preferably, consult Google search, Google maps and watch out for the minutest of red flags.

In my case, a so called recruitment company by the name Global Travel Quest posed as a recruitment agency. They are not. They are fraudsters. Do not engage with them.

Specifically, one Alex Krygois and Bogdan Warhol are the brains behind the recruitment scam. They will tell you everything sweet and rosy, give you a forged contract letter, try to befriend you, pose as it they are truly working on your visa, then ask you to forward half of your flight ticket (to be reimbursed after your first week of work in Thailand).

Do. Not. Fall. For. Them. Be aware. And share with others.

Hello bro, thanks for your insight. I want to inquire if it's mandatory and stipulated by the Thai embassy to notarize our documents. I went through the checklist of requirements and no where did I see anything related to notarization of documents. Also, did you have to book or schedule an appointment with the embassy or you just went there directly? Kind advise. Thank you

Hello able op I trust you are doing well in Thailand.

Are you still in Thailand?
I just got an admission in a school in Thailand, I am expected to make a tuition deposit while I am still in Nigeria, after which they will process my visa for me from Thailand. Is this the normal process?

I was expecting that I will be the one to process my visa by myself here in Nigeria. Please I'll appreciate a quick response to my inquiry. Thanks a million

Welcome back bro,pls I want to link on how to go about applying for Thailand visa and teaching job over there, thanks.

The best way I know so far is to be on ground to be able to land interviews. You can apply for a tourist visa and within 3 months you should be able to find something. You can send a mail for more detailed explanation.

For those who have reached out to me about Tourism in Thailand..... this should be a good read

Passport and Visa: Ensure your Nigerian passport is valid for at least six months beyond your intended stay in Thailand. Apply for a tourist visa at the Royal Thai Embassy or consulate in Nigeria before your departure.

Flight and Accommodation: Book your flights and accommodation in advance to secure the best deals. Consider staying in reputable hotels or guesthouses that cater to international travelers.

Currency and Money Matters: The local currency in Thailand is the Thai Baht (THB). It's advisable to carry a mix of cash and credit/debit cards. You can exchange Nigerian Naira for Thai Baht at local banks or authorized currency exchange centers.

Transportation: Thailand has an extensive transportation system, including taxis, tuk-tuks, motorbike taxis, buses, and trains. Bangkok, the capital city, also has a reliable subway and Skytrain system. Research the transportation options in the cities you plan to visit to make getting around easier.

Language: Thai is the official language in Thailand. While English is spoken in tourist areas, it's helpful to learn a few basic Thai phrases or carry a translation app to communicate with locals.

Local Customs and Etiquette: Familiarize yourself with Thai customs and etiquette. The Thai people are known for their politeness and respect for others. Remove your shoes when entering temples or someone's home, dress modestly when visiting religious sites, and be mindful of your behavior in public.

Health and Safety: Prioritize your health and safety while traveling. It's recommended to have travel insurance that covers medical expenses. Stay hydrated, use sunscreen, and protect yourself from mosquito bites, especially in rural areas. Follow local laws and regulations, and be cautious of scams or tourist traps.

Cultural Sensitivity: Thailand is a predominantly Buddhist country, and religious respect is important. When visiting temples, dress modestly, remove hats, and be mindful of your behavior. Avoid public displays of affection, as it is considered inappropriate.

Local Cuisine: Thailand is renowned for its delicious cuisine. Explore local street food markets and try traditional dishes, but be cautious of food hygiene. Stick to eateries with good hygiene practices, and drink bottled water to avoid stomach issues.

Tourist Destinations: Thailand offers a variety of attractions, from bustling cities to pristine beaches and cultural sites. Popular destinations include Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Phuket, Krabi, and Ayutthaya. Research and plan your itinerary based on your interests.

COVID-19 Considerations:
Stay updated on the latest COVID-19 travel restrictions and guidelines for Thailand. Check the official websites of the Thai government and the Nigerian Embassy in Thailand for the most accurate and up-to-date information.

Remember to stay respectful, open-minded, and flexible during your trip. Thailand is a vibrant and diverse country with a rich culture and warm hospitality. Enjoy your journey and have a wonderful time exploring this beautiful destination!
