Interesting conversations. I hardly read threads on Nairaland but this right here is very informative and educative. I am a core believer in food security and climate actionable research. As a result, I am doing my PhD research modeling the impacts of future climate risk on crop productivity.

Btw, my first degree was Ag Engineering and couldn't be more proud!

To whoever that is farming, please keep up your good works. In a fluttering economy like Nigeria, only those with means of supply survive better.

I think it's good for every house to have a small farm. Even if it's only banana, pawpaw , vegetables and corn you grow at least you are sure that the fruits you planted yourself are free of chemicals and can eat healthy stuff, but na lie na to build house every corner and use am rent or build swimming pool wey be like soak away.

Farming ain't for the weak . It requires another source of income and can't done in proxy.

My first degree was Fisheries and Aquaculture. But I developed interest more in animal rearing and planting.

Please what happened to the original shombo the slim ones we used to see back then did it go extinct or something? It was quite peppery too and added red color.

What about security? Did you fence the land?
No fence. I'm very fortunate that farm environment is free of herdsmen and thieves.

Nice work. I'm also into tomatoes and pepper cultivation.

How do you keep disease and pest from the tomato?

I thought this rainy season is not good for tomatoes.

Allow the plantains to mature na, what kind of wasted potential is this? See how skinny and underdeveloped they look. undecided
