Hello Good People, Another issue just rised today. It's not up to one year I parked into this building and I have been consistent in paying the current bill for each month. And the old tenants living in the building were quited due to non renewal of their house rents. The Power Company just disconnected my light today because of arrears these quited tenants were owning. They said I should start paying the arrears before they will reconnect my light. The sum is #324,000. No Prepaid Meter. So what is the best approach, should I start paying for the arrears of light I did not used? I am just upset right now. |

It is highway robbery. That's what they do. Tell the landlord and deduct it from rent |

If you can afford it get a solar installed in ur apartment. Or alternatively speak with the landlord in regards to the subject matter. See our just concluded 3bedroom bungalow construction if you're about starting your building project.. Link in my signature. Plus we offer building designs and construction services nationwide |

Dadadede:The landlord should have settled this issue with Nepa before taking you in. FORWARD the outstanding bill to the landlord immediately and let him know that as far as you are concerned, you don't owe Nepa. You said "another issue just arose today" meaning that you have been having issues in the house, are the issues in Nigeria not enough burden already? If he can't rectify your light within shortest possible time, tell him to refund your balance and quit the debt-laden house. That N324k you want to pay on a debt you don't owe will go a long way in augmenting the rent for another apartment. No time for rubbish. NB: Make sure you make your enquiries well next time before packing into a house. |

Dadadede:let the owner know about it as he is responsible for this issue, not you...you can A) let EVERYONE in that compound share the cost of the unpaid bill, or B) tell the landlord to give you your money back and move out if this problematic place. |

Thanks all for your contributions. The issue now is that the landlord is not living in compound, and the caretaker that I paid to was sacked. The landlord died few months ago, and his son took over and later handed the property to a lawyer. |
