Following the onslaught against criminals in Kogi State, a notorious criminal, Kabir Bala alias (Okwo) has been killed in Ejule. Ofu LGA.

The Kogi State Commissioner For Police, CP Akeem Yusuf made the disclosure today at joint press conference held at the Commands headquarter’s in Lokoja, promising that the onslaught against criminals in the State will be sustained.


The Commissioner of Police said the notorious criminal had remained unrepentant, with a charge by the State Security Council to go after Kabir Bala and arrest him immediately for prosecution, led to his death when he opened fire on a joint patrol team of security agencies.

The said Kabir Bala the Police Commissioner disclosed remained an unrepentant criminal with lots of atrocities traced to him which include; dealing in illegal arms, Kidnappings and killings in the State.

He said several cases have been traced to him such as Burning alive ‘of Mrs Salome Abu, a PDP woman Leader in Ofu LGA in her residence on 18 November, 2019 at Ochadamu

” Killing of two (2) Igala youths; UMORU AREH and UNEKWU SULE on 20” April, 2022 at Ejule.

” Killing of Five (5) Fulani Herders namely; Ibrahim, Haruna and Shuaibu along Alloma Road, Ofu LGA in April, 2022 and Muhammed and Dauda at Imoko in Ofu LGA on 3 March, 2023

Other crimes committed by Kabir Bala and his gang the Commissioner of Police listed to include: ” Attack on troops of Nigerian Navy and dispossessed them of four (4) Rifles at Alloma village on 4″ March, 2022. Though, the Firearms were later returned to the Navy following high-powered intervention.

” Attack on Elisha Aya, Pastor and founder of Kingdom Faith Assembly Ejule on 18” March, 2022 who later paid 1 Million naira to Bala as levy for establishing a Church.

” Invasion of Egane Fulani settlement, burning 213 huts, rustled 122 cows on December, 2022,

” Assault on the Lord’s Chosen Church, Ejule on 29″ january 2023 for disturbing his Hotel with their Service, during which Joy Abuh, a worshipper sustaineg gunshot injury on her left hand.

” He was also responsible for seven (7) Kidnappings along itobe-Anyigba highway from 5th to 28 May 2023″.

All known agents of Kabir Bala in criminal activities the Commissioner assured must be apprehended to face the law, with all illegal arms in the possession of criminals in that area recovered For the peace of the State.

Items recovered from the premises include of the killed criminal include One (1) AK 47 Rifle with three(3) fully loaded magazines. Six (6) locally fabricated weapons. Two (2) Phones and Charms.

My problem in Nigeria is that sometimes police doesn't act when a case of misdemeanor is reported early, they only do when a high profile person, mostly a politician, is involved. Can you imagine that since he committed all these, na now dem strike am. He even dispossessed naval officers of arms, and it was only returned after a 'high-powered intervention'.

On another note, most criminals have police and political backings because these set of people use them to also achieve criminal aims, and they pay police from the proceeds of their crimes sometimes .

Lastly, these criminals become so intoxicated by charms and think it is Supreme, dem no know say sometimes the demon protecting dem sef no wan die, it will just step aside to avoid being caught up in the bruhaha, then an Angel by the side will ask the criminal 'now dem never leave you'? '.

These charms make them being feared by the police sometimes. That is the reason people will be telling you about the crimes of a known criminal, yet nothing is happening to him yet.

Some other times, the police, when the person bucket don really full, go get their own charm to be able to arrest the criminal. Make I no tell you the story of Nwa Obi in Abia state. Na him waist the inspector come drag and cut off something, then told his men to shoot Nwa obi. Na so odeshi run away. And the sad thing is, he did not expect they would shoot, perhaps he thought telhey would just take him to the station. On the other side, I feel the inspector wanted to also confirm his action was effective.
