The newly reinstated chairman of the Kano State Public Complaint & Anti Corruption Commission- Barrister Muhuyi Magajin Rimin Gado has pledged to reopen the investigation case on former governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje over alleged corrupt activities.

The state anti-graft agency boss who was recently reinstated by the new Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf stated this during an interview published by Daily Trust. It would be recalled that Gado was suspended from his position under the Ganduje administration under unclear circumstances.

However, in a statement on Wednesday through his Chief Press Secretary, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, Governor Yusuf approved the immediate reinstatement of Barr. Gado as the Chairman of the Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC). The statement added that the reinstatement follows a court order and is effective immediately.

Speaking in an interview shortly after the reinstatement, Gado vowed to go after Ganduje and investigate the former Governor.

The state anti-graft commission boss submitted that if he took a decision to investigate Ganduje while he was still in office and he was serving under his administration, how much more now that he is no longer in power.

Gado added that previous attempts to investigate Ganduje met with certain resistance because of the immunity he enjoyed as a sitting Governor, however, now that he has handed over, the commisison would do the needful in ensuring justice is done.

Ganduje: Reopening The Dollar Video Case Is Contempt Of Court – Former Attorney General Sends Warning

A Former Kano State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barrister Musa Abdullahi Lawal, has stated that the alleged move to reopen the dollar video case of former governor Abdullahi Ganduje is an act of ignorance.

Naija News understands that certain reports making the rounds have indicated that the reinstated Kano Anti-Corruption Commission boss, Barrister Muhyi Magaji Rimin Gado might decide to reopen the case.

Reacting to the reports, via an interview monitored by Naija News on Thursday, the former attorney general insisted that it is not proper to open an investigation into a case that is before a Federal Appeal Court in Abuja. He argued that the case in question is a legal issue in which judgment had been delivered at an Abuja High Court, which led to an appeal.

According to him, “The Dollar Video Case is still an allegation that is before a competent court in Abuja; so for somebody to now come to Kano and start talking about it, it could even be tantamount to contempt of court.

“The Police Headquarters in Abuja are handling the criminal aspect of the case, and all those that are involved, that is, the contractors handling Kano projects, have testified before the Police, and the case has not been closed.

“Part of the police investigation into the criminal aspect of the case led to the principal accused person running away from Nigeria, and up till now the police authority has not closed down the case, so what are you investigating?”

I pity for common man taking politicians' issues to be serious issues. This case can only make headway when Obi reclaims his mandate and allows the independence of Judiciary. Otherwise, it is dead on arrival.
