NAFDAC Certifies Semovita Fit For Consumption, Debunks Social Media Reports by References(op): 7:35pm On Jul 03, 2023

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has certified that Golden Penny Semovita and other Semolina products do not contain plastic or any similar contaminants.

The agency said this is in response to a social media video showing a woman washing Golden Penny Semovita in a sieve using cold water with the claim that the residue she got after sieving was plastic.

NAFDAC noted that a similar video was shown in 2020 which the agency had addressed at the time.

NAFDAC Director General, Moji Adeyeye, in a statement today, said the agency confirmed that the claim was not true after an appropriate analytical testing in its internationally accredited laboratories.

The agency added that Semovita contained the expected components plus the required Vitamin A, describing the claim in the viral video as misleading.

They should go further and arrest the person that posted the video!
The more they allow individuals like that woman go scotsfree,the more people like her would post fake news,sometimes deliberately,other times out of ignorance or illiteracy.
Imagine the millions semolina would have lost in a single day of business because the average Nigerian believes anything negative about an individual,company or entity first,passes judgement before even using commonsense to ask themselves simple logical questions.
If NAFDAC arrest the lady and they with semolina successfully prosecutes the her and she ends up paying even if ₦1million or spends at least 6months in jail,others would learn.
Otherwise this fake news epidemic would persist.
Even in the most liberal of the western world with highest freedom of speech,individuals have been arrested or sued by companies when their image or product is put in badlight.
