He needs to meet to meet with the governors and other political leaders and come up with a plan for military intervention. A plan that they can sell to their people in order to get the support of the people on the streets and strip the terrorists of popular support.

Military intervention in the SE is probably inevitable but it should have a broad multilateral support, not a unilateral action by an unpopular Yoruba president. That is the hard truth.
Maybe my English is bad, but this doesn't look like diplomacy to me.

And yes, this is what i totally agree with.

The governor of every state is the CSO of the state and FG should not be going until the State govt indicates they cannot handle it anymore

Any FG intervention means a vote of no confidence on the state gov ability to secure his state which usually leads to a state of emergency and suspension of the state gov
One critical point you are not factoring in is that the FG controls the entire security architecture in the country.

As long as it has to do with security, the FG is the one in charge.

In different state they have what they control. In SE the governors control the local Ebubeagu. These Ebubeagu commanders are likely to know these UGM personnel and hideouts better than a Col Umar from Katsina state

Col Umar will likely get to Enugu and just shoot any young man between 18 and 55 to show that he is working, In a few weeks the locals will run to UGM to save them from Col Umars invaders and further lose the war

So without collaboration of the locals, how will FG soldiers know who is Emeka UGM and Emeka innocent trader? Abi shey the killers get special color ni? Or shey FG will just enter there and shoot every young man?
One of the reasons why robberies stopped on 3MB was because there are RRS patrols stationed at the beginning, middle and end of the bridge.

They did not need to ask all the Makoko residents who were the thieves. If dem born the person well, come and rob and escape.

It is in Nigeria you will hear that the Police needs to be asking who did what or not.

There is obviously little or no presence of security, and that is why crime would continue to thrive

Any ungoverned space with little or no security is a fertile ground for crime.

Ebubeagu and Amotekun are actually on ground maybe underfunded or under equipped and the locals actually trust these Amotekun/Ebubeagu more than the FG controlled soldiers.

In SW for example, any highway robbery or attack, the locals are usually shouting for Amotekun people, they actually know the phone numbers of these Amotekun commanders while no one knows anything about Police and soldiers

Anytime I drive between Lagos and Ibadan, I see these tiger colored Hilux pickups by the roadside. The guys are local Yoruba speaking guys that live among the people who the locals trust

So, a state governor should start his plans from a local vigilante that he created?

RRS na Police naa.

It is just a unit formed by the Lagos State Police Force.

They are still employed by the FG, and yes they can be transferred by that same FG

Yes there was a reason that Ebubeagu/ Amotekun was created, So if they are not working to capacity, what can be done to make them better.
And if FG soldiers are coming they have to follow Ebubeagu people who will show them where to attack else Col Umar will just start shooting innocent boys playing ball

Yeah i think this is what Dayo was talking about. The diplomacy comes first by meeting with the governors and other political leaders and preparing a soft-landing for the military. If Tinubu just sends soldiers in there without first getting political support from the local leaders, the narrative will change very quickly.

What you have posted here shows there is a collaboration between the LASG and FG to allow LASG use FG police, pay them extra, equip them specially and use them for special tasks

Without the collaboration with LASG how will Soldiers from Abuja know where to attack and how to stop robbers in Makoko. NPF will simply withdraw their Police guys

Imagine a situation where tomorrow without prior information or consultation with State governors, you start seeing batallion of soldiers moving with heavy ammution into the SE,

Guess what the state governors and the elders will say?

And how will that help anyone

The perpetrators of Owo Massacre were not caught by Amotekun.

There will always be a limit to what a local vigilante can handle. All they have are vehicles and local guns.

We are talking of a security input that would need air surveillance, water navigation, more troops and weaponry and a large network of stations to collaborate. No governor has this under his control.

There will always be more Policemen than Vigilantes in any state, so how can you be suggesting that a state governor starts from the vigilates, in a critical moment like this?

Well, no policeman was imported from Abuja to form RRS. It is still within their unit that they formed it.

They can remove the RRS name tomorrow, and it would still be the same thing

A governor that will have such heavy military presence in his state deserves to know and approve of it before the deployment. Yes or No?

Or do you think its okay for people to wake up see aircraft, military boats and even the state governor cannot tell what is going on?

LASG is local to Lagos and its the equivalent of Tinubu speaking with State governors which I started with. Even state governor in Alausa will still need informants among the local indigenes of Makoko

The RRS police can be withdrawn by NPF right? If FG is not carried along by LASG, they can withdraw these immediately

With people still dying en masse, If it ends in a deadlock that is when a State of Emergency becomes necesary

Recipe for disaster.

The governors, traditional rulers, and other leaders have to be on board. Until maybe last year on this same NL there was still a huge bloc of posters of SE origin who believed those terrorist acts were being perpetrated by Buhari contract killers masquerading as Igbo activists.

Tinubu has to be careful not to turn a bad situation into a terrible one.

Tinubu is simply talking to say Soludo, This UGM issue is escalating, what are your plans for it and how can we help. We have the Nigerian military ready to assist. Lets know in areas we can help you

At the end of the day Soludo was elected by Anambrans to govern them directly and Soludo should know about Anambra problems and solutions more than Tinubu in Abuja

If Soludo doesn't have any idea on how to resolve the obvious problem, then he is not fit for the seat and a State of emergency is in order

When diplomacy has failed, then a state of emergency and suspension of the governor usually follows, Meaning the state is governed from Abuja directly

Let it end in a deadlock first. After that he can move to next stage. The wise thing to do is to get broad support and if that does not work then he can try more aggressive measures. Alexander the Great first tried to untie the Gordian knot before he eventually cut it with a sword.

It is because of all these soft measures that we have insecurity everywhere.

I cannot be diplomatic with anybody that wants to hurt me.

Wike didn't apply diplomacy when he handled IPOB. The ones that have been applying diplomacy are still having it hot hot.
