Roland17:If Tinubu failed to rein in those guys and deal with them decisively after the end of his administration, it will impact his rating on security. As the commander in chief of the armed forces, hes under oath to protect and secure the lives of everyone in the country whether they voted for him or not. As long as our security architecture is the way it is, the buck stops at his table. Get everyone on board from the Governors to the elected NASS members and even the traditional rulers on how he plans to tackle the insecurity the region is currently facing, the stakeholders will be able to give input on how to make plan better, identify weak point in each state security apparatus and then launch a special military operation to rid the zone of these criminals. A President must also make it clear that anyone among the stakeholders who harbors these criminals will be dealt with. |

larride:The embolden shows clarity of purpose and control which is important in a delicate situation like this! He just appointed new security chiefs, they have the technical knowledge and will be guided by what he expects to see. The region definitely needs a sustained military operation to get rid of these criminals and more importantly, RECAPTURE a territory. |

Roland17:Sometimes I come here to read and pass but I have to respond to the bolded. The bolded is just nothing but the truth. The FG isn't sincere or ready to allow the sit at home to stop. Every nook and crannies of that region has been militarized, there is no 2km distance out of any of the state without military sentries and police checkpoint, in some areas people had to raise hands like it is done in war zone and that begs the question why do this attack still sustained? The security issues in SE is multi-dimensional. There is this UGM angle, there is this political angle and also there are other criminal elements that has found a platform to commit heinous crimes unimpeded. Most people in the zone are helpless and that is the reason government needs to step up, all you need to make people continue to stay back home is to recruit a new cultist and ask him to do a keke drive-by shoot in the air and that alone will cause panic and people will recoil to their shell, just imagine after mouthing by the new Enugu governor and threatened to shut down schools and even show of force by air and land components, some unscrupulous elements can still shoot in a market place unchallenged, this alone should have led to sack of all the security agencies in that zone. The new Governor of Enugu state, even Soludo have met with PBAT and even pleaded with Buhari before he left to first release MNK so that the security fight will be narrowed (even though I am not his proponent) down to criminality. Even the Ekpa that was making noise in Finland can be rooted out and find his foot soldiers if the government is sincere. Sometime last year before election a LG chairman was beheaded and everywhere, people attributed it to IPOB only for Uzodimma after having the "intelligence and knowing wetin dey" ordered the arrest of Ideato north/south constituency contestant (Imo ugochinyere), former deputy governor (Gerard Irona) during Ihedioha and another PDP member then it became public that most of that were political killings, infact it was rumoured the LG chairman was killed in retaliation for burning of the contestant (ugochinyere) house which led to the killing of his uncle. The guy ran away from Imo state and won his election while seeking refuge in Abuja and till now I don't think he has step his foot in that state. All the traditional rulers have ran away from their abode and residing somewhere else. A community (ISU) had to write petition to IGP that the policemen deployed to guard the chiefs meeting left few minutes before the traditional rulers were murdered in cold blooded even all the entreaties made by the traditional rulers to make the police change their mind fell into deaf ears until their attackers came in and murdered them in cold blooded. Why am I siting all the example? Is to let you know that it has other components aside the agitation anyday the FG wants the insecurity to stop, it will stop and he doesn't need any meeting and collaboration from the locals because he will have it. Even Abia state that is the headquarter of the ESN and IPOB doesn't experience the amount of carnage witnessed in Anambra and Imo state and that is simply because there is more to it. Nevertheless Ifeanyi Uba has started on a good note by employing local vigilantes to be on ground for quick intervention and trust me very soon Nnewi will stop experiencing all these Monday sit at home. Let the government take that approach, I don't care if it will take the release of MNK or employing more locals to stop it but once the government show sincere and concerted effort to stop all that monday sit at home and the insecurity. Trust me it will be thing of the past. |

Abaribe is definitely one of the most useless politicians you will see in Nigeria. Instead of calling out what was a growing terrorist mindset in his background he was yapping Buhari printing useless T-shirts ndi-dot to score cheap political points and garner useless clout. That said Tinubu as the commander in chief can't afford to watch any section of Nigeria burn including the SE. This is a cancer he has to aggressively deal with decisively. These terrorists have shown that trying to engage with them peacefully is only emboldening them to do worse. All the SE governors should as a matter of urgency meet with Tinubu to map out military/police action to handle this menace. As a carrot approach I still think releasing Nnamdi Kanu would help the situation as annoying as that may be. raumdeuter: |

OasisX:As sad as this is, Until the leaders of the region, governors and all elected officials work together with the FG Any president who tries it without the buy in of the regional leaders will surely fail and it will become genocide talks |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by Agadinaagwuofe: 8:19pm On Jul 05, 2023 |
izzou:If they are sincere, there is no way the crime can go unabated because police or army or even airforce personnel will be questioned and sacked. For the past 3 weeks I learnt that helicopters have been hovering with police and army showing force, then go back and watch the video posted by Oasis. How could such amount of time be wasted flogging students and teachers in a city surrounded by army, helicopters and police and still the attackers went home unchallenged? it only shows one thing the fight to stop that isn't a serious one or the armies and securities are just joking. Isn't that enought to sack all the head of security agencies? In 3 months time watch what will become of Nnewi |

OasisX:I was feeling reluctant to answer this but I have to step in now You see, what hope is doing has its own side effects too, those thugs hope employed in orlu and imo state in the name of joint task force are nothing but hardcore ex convicted thugs in the disguise of police.. Those guys has been gunning down youths at sight, whether ugm, yahoo boy or a good looking young guy.. Hope has breeded new form of legalized militarized thugs in the name of task force.. This is a clear case of ana agwo ibi, afo na eto( if you re curing syphilis, stomach ache keeps growing) Hope in the effort to curb UGM, has breeded an arm of legalized police/military thug who has gone awol and are ready to pull the trigger if you don't do what they say.. It's a loose loose situation |

Ellexy:I laughed when I read that but I didn't want to prolong the talk, infact Uzodimma is the highest beneficiary of the sit at home because it will give him ample opportunity to do that election the way he likes by formulating enough results. Story! |

Agadinaagwuofe:Maybe i am wrong, but i do not think the states are militarized...Na Anambra i sabi for now sha After the checkpoint at the Niger head bridge, you won't see anyone even after you pass Upper Iweka and join the Onitsha/Enugu expressway. When i went to Nibo, the only Checkpoint i saw was in front of Government House. After that spot, na OYO. I watched a video of a road Uzodinma did in Imo. The guy recorded it as he was driving. It was more than 10 minutes, and no Checkpoint featured in the video At least, you watched Ubah and his vigilante driving around Nnewi. How many checkpoints did you see in that video? If truly the military was littered everywhere, these guys won't even have this mind to be committing nonsense. I can't argue with your comment, but the absence of the military is what is making this cancer to grow |

OkpaNsukkaisBae:As far as I am concerned, all this blood shedding started because of Nnamdi kanu. All the threats and order to the people are from Ipob. Whether it is Ipob that are carrying out the Killings or not is not my business. They made threats and some one executed them. I also understand some criminal elements have hijacked the opportunity to perpetrate all manner of atrocities, from kidnapping for ransom and killing for whatever reason. In the end, the perpetrators are igbos like you and I. If Ipob weren't making any threat in the beginning, it would have been hard to pin it on them. They are dealing with their own people. They are not even fighting their perceived enemy which is Nigeria, but their own people. Nonsense! This needs to be condemned and these criminals, wiped out. |
