It's respecting the federal structure we have currently which is that state governors are the first line of responsibility before it goes to FG. Everything cannot be stopping at Abuja all the time. There is a reason. Why we have state governors

Like someone said Wike didn't wait for Buhari to handle issues if the SE governors can't do it then they should openly ask for FG support and openly take ownership for whatever fallout comes out of it

In recent past we have seen State govs not securing their states, FG steps in then these local politicians put all the blame on FG

We need to learn from the past on how to handle this so it's a joint effort of local and federal
The Wike example is absolutely not comparable. We are talking about criminal elements that have held the entire states in the SE under siege, you are talking about Rivers State. If criminal elements held the entire SS region under siege, the FG will absolutely intervene, we have seen this over and over again.

Respecting federal structure has nothing to do with who controls our armed forces, intelligence and security personnel as those are exclusively under the purview of the Presidency. Dayo, an entire region in the Federal Republic of Nigeria under the watch of the CCAF is under siege and you would rather the region burn to ground because you want to keep Asiwaju out of trouble and people’s mouth.

Man, please show some empathy and consideration to the lives that are living in these conditions. Asiwaju is the president of the entire country, not just APC voters or regions that supported him. He is the head of Government and as things stand an entire region under siege.

Another reason Tinubu should consult first.

Aspects of FG military intervention has been criticized before, no be today, those who will work will work. Those who will look for excuses would look for excuses.

Once the off-season elections in Imo, Kogi, and one other state are completed, we may have 9 parties left.
This is because the constitution vests in INEC the power to deregister political parties that fail to win at least one Councilorship seat..

Gangsta rap is a scam. Back in the 90s ice cube was dissing black dudes for selling out and carrying white chicks

If pac was alive today dude would likely also be playing a mellow dad in movies

As an aside, fantastic show of patriotism and shaving from Coco T

It's unfortunate that we'll meaning people like you are caught in the senseless carnage but na the same people you are trying to help will turn their back and blame the FG and make a bad situation into something worse.

You look around and see that it's not certain you are in the majority about calling IPOB what they really are. Many people will rather exonerate them at all cost.
How many well educated people are still insinuating that IPOB are freedom fighters and killings are by DSS?

There is no way FG will get involved in full show of might that there won't be killings of mostly bad guys and probably some innocents. So how won't this turn into a worse situation. It happens all over the world, it has happened in Nigeria recent history

It happened to Jonathan, it happened to Buhari which is why Tinubu has to be careful

Public sentiments is important when dealing with security issues before well intentioned interventions become something else

Its the common mode of operation of terrorist groups, That was how ISIS Hezbolah Boko Haram IPOB etc made themselves into heroes for the local people

You live in a society where policemen and law enforcement of a different race are careful when entering the wrong zip codes

Which is why even in America, govt and law enforcement gets the buy in of the affected communities before they move. It doesn't take long for a well intended intervention turns into riots over something else

In US when dealing with crime in the black or Hispanic community they still have to consult with the community leaders before the govt dives in

Owner of the CBT Center, Mr. Osita Chidoka, has come out to shed more light and apparently she is guilty of forgery.

Growing up while reading government textbooks in secondary school , I was of the opinion that the French policy of assimilation in the French speaking regions of Africa is far more superior and beneficial to Africans than the British’s indirect rule .

Now all grown having access to different news articles , propaganda and media reports I somehow feel the French didn’t mean well for Africa at all compared to their British counterparts .

Looking at how militancy groups spring up in different French African countries the moment france feels they are losing grip of such country, how France just goes after it’s interests in those countries before anything all makes it feel like the French are really ruthless but nobody talks enough about them

Still not a reason for them to get involved. This is a police case not national security matter.

It's almost like the DSS don't know their role anymore. They're getting involved with every Tom, Dick and Harry.

There was no hacking. However while the DSS has issues of their own, they are less likely to be compromised than the police.

In a different society this would have been a outright comedy where different talk show hosts printed their own ridiculous jamb result slips

There is however a need to find out exactly who was behind this and what their motivation was.

I think the assimilation policy was still better for the francophone subjects than what the British gave us.

I've just come back from Afronation in Portugal, where I estimate up to 80% of attendees were black French citizens. Some if the greatest names in sporting history are children of black francophone assimilants.

What's happening in francophone countries is largely driven by greed of the African leaders themselves from Cameroon to the Congos, to CAR, to Ivory Coast, to Senegal and/or by Islamic separatism wey no send anybody papa like in Chad, Niger, Mali etc.

To be fair to the UK it is Buhari 1.0 we have to blame for that. At the barest minimum we should have still been having visa free entry to the UK if not for the fallout of the failed crating of dikko

Religious, traditional and political leaders in the South East have to voice out at this point so, their followers buy into the actions of the government.

Nigeria is deeply divided along ethnoreligious lines thus any move by the Tinubu-led FG which is not in sync with the position of the leadership of the South East across all spheres will be viewed as a ploy to go against the region. No army will put a stop to the menace if the locals are sympathetic to the Ipob course. The people affected have to show a strong willingness to end the vicious activities of UGM through their leaders that way, the FG can easily step in and have the situation under control.

Waiting for this all along. Maybe that's why the former governors were useless as the CSO of their states, and allowed the miscreants to grow wings. It is well.
The governors were useless because it favours their political agenda. When the miscreants started, they saw the political angle and decided to maximize it. The group laid the platform but unwise to know it can be hijacked. I mentioned his release because that will be the only reason to unmask the actual culprit. Crime has always existed in the society but every crime now on the region is always going to be attributed to the group.

Again no matter how big their wings grew the government can tame it and bring it to stop if they want. MNK was tracked and kidnapped from Kenya and you think they cannot get the intelligence to track the foot soldiers of Ekpa that are residing in Nigeria? The BBC documentary of Zamfara bandits opened eyes of many Nigerians on how far and ruthless Nigerian politicians can go. Even Umahi curtailed their excesses and Ebonyi wasn't observing the sit at home. Did he perform any extra-terrestial magic? NO. Just a conscientious effort to put it to stop. Let the FG government get serious since they control the security architecture and the state government will have no option than fall in line.

Transition to a Treasury Single Account.

By September 1, 2023, Abia State will transition to a Treasury Single Account (TSA) system. This move will centralize all state revenue and payments, enhancing transparency and efficiency. During a recent town-hall meeting with the state’s transport unions and market leaders, I reiterated the benefits of our new digital tax system.

This system will fight fraud, streamline tax payments, empower our citizens, generate employment and attract investors. I urge all stakeholders to embrace this shift, knowing it is in the best interest of Abia State and its people.

- Alex Otti [Governor of Abia State]

He referenced the civil war, then spoke about unknown gun men. The civil war is seen till this day by many, especially people from the SE as a pogrom. That tweet was at best poorly worded or very probably sinister.
Buhari was clearly careless with his utterance. Wetin concern civil war with unknown gunmen?

Bringing up civil war made it seem like he was referring to the entire South East. That's like opening an old wound.

However, this menace will not go down if the leaders, ohanaeze and other elites don't stand up and speak against it. I feel they know the sponsors and probably can't do shit about it..hence their deafening silence. This is now at par with the boko haram menace.

Sure, speaking up will be done, but no matter how much speaking gets done, if the C-in-C for whatever reason doesn't want to move, nothing will be done. Soludo and other South East leaders spoke up about the IPOB menace in the past administration, made suggestions on an approach to curb the menace and there was nothing from the centre in the way of letting them know they'd been heard.

A lot of things in Nigeria are top-down, and sadly, handling a menace like IPOB requires a top-down approach.

At the start of the whole IPOB sit-at-home thing, there were attempts at enforcing same in Rivers, but not just Rivers, Delta too, those that are quick to mention Wike as responsible for quelling the sit-at-home forget the sit-at-home thing didn't take root in Delta either. Maybe they too will credit Okowa for squashing IPOB, or maybe acknowledge that IPOB can't enforce sit-at-home's where they don't have numbers like that, and Wike's "show of force" was simply Wike being Wike, eager to show himself as an action governor... the same way the idiot was demolishing structures during the lockdown. Even in the core South East states where the sit-at-home is being enforced, there are differences in levels of compliance and attacks (they seem to be targeting rural areas).

Brace yourselves, you and your people will hate wike till the end of time, do you live in Rivers? Where were you when IPOB burnt police station and killed policemen in Rivers? Did IPOB burn police stations in Delta? You expected him to sit back and watch them turn the state to a sit at home state like other states in the east?

I'm tempted to use foul words on you, reason I maintain that bulk of the people from the east are sympathetic towards the IPOB course, I'm very sure you're one of the persons proposing for an Nnamdi kanu's release.

This is the part that irritates me about you people. And by you people, i dont mean igbos. I mean the double speaking dubious people who make statements like this.

What was civil war about? What are IPOB/ESN fighting for? Scratch that...what does the acronym IPOB stand for?

How can you draw a line between 2 generations of a violent separatist movement and expect anybody to take your complaints serious?

Since IPOB/ESN has nothing to do with civil war, then enjoy the language they are currently speaking to you.
