From the link above, you clearly heard kanu instructing people to burn down police stations in Rivers

This is the part that irritates me about you people. And by you people, i dont mean igbos. I mean the double speaking dubious people who make statements like this.

What was civil war about? What are IPOB/ESN fighting for? Scratch that...what does the acronym IPOB stand for?

How can you draw a line between 2 generations of a violent separatist movement and expect anybody to take your complaints serious?

Since IPOB/ESN has nothing to do with civil war, then enjoy the language they are currently speaking to you.
I don't know what the anger is about...whatever irritates you is non of my headache.

Ipob was initially a non violent movement (even though I've been indifferent to all of that) until some unscrupulous elements hijacked it for selfish and political interests.

Ain't nobody agitating for a civil war.

Sure, speaking up will be done, but no matter how much speaking gets done, if the C-in-C for whatever reason doesn't want to move, nothing will be done. Soludo and other South East leaders spoke up about the IPOB menace in the past administration, made suggestions on an approach to curb the menace and there was nothing from the centre in the way of letting them know they'd been heard.

A lot of things in Nigeria are top-down, and sadly, handling a menace like IPOB requires a top-down approach.

At the start of the whole IPOB sit-at-home thing, there were attempts at enforcing same in Rivers, but not just Rivers, Delta too, those that are quick to mention Wike as responsible for quelling the sit-at-home forget the sit-at-home thing didn't take root in Delta either. Maybe they too will credit Okowa for squashing IPOB, or maybe acknowledge that IPOB can't enforce sit-at-home's where they don't have numbers like that, and Wike's "show of force" was simply Wike being Wike, eager to show himself as an action governor... the same way the idiot was demolishing structures during the lockdown. Even in the core South East states where the sit-at-home is being enforced, there are differences in levels of compliance and attacks (they seem to be targeting rural areas).
Don't even attempt to rewrite history. It was never about sit at home at the time.

Policemen were slaughtered in day light and at night, the governor declared a 10pm to 6am curfew immediately and closed all borders in and out of the state. He launched a full scale offensive attack on those IPOB miscreants using the military. The soldiers of course were happy to be brutal because their colleagues had been murdered in Oyigbo.

The families of slain policemen were compensated with 20m naira each. You see me defend Wike here, this was the major thing he did that endeared him to me.

Let any governor in the East offer a reward of 33m naira to the family of any soldier or policeman killed by UGM then you'll see how happy they will be to lay their life on the line to eradicate the madness.

If only those governors were as eager to show action as you put it, we won't be where we are today. The best time to act was immediately the madness started.

Give the man his accolades. It won't take anything away from you.

Then tell IPOB to expel the the unscrupulous elements from their midst and enjoy the sit at home.

On the one hand, you noted that people in the east speak highly about Kanu who's stated aim is to continue to wage the civil war in guerrilla fashion. On the other hand, you note that speaking out against separatist agitators is enough to to frame you as the enemy
Emaprince:
My dad normally get mad when he see people talking so highly about kanu or ipob. I would warn him to not talk pim..so he won't be seen as an enemy. It would put his life in danger.
This is what the leader of IPOB had to say about his cause..but at the same time nobody is agitating for civil war. grin
“There is no going back, by September 2015, Nigeria would have seized to exist; we shall fight until we get Biafra, if they don’t give us Biafra, no human being will remain alive in Nigeria by that time; we shall turn everybody into corpses; you better go and buy your coffins.
https://guardian.ng/sunday-magazine/biafra-managing-a-complex-civil-war-backlash/

The problem here is that many Igbos, including yourself, are unwilling to let go of the history of the civil war and continue to see it as a righteous cause. However at the same time, the current champions of the cause are making life uncomfortable for you.

So you are stuck in a bind - you cannot denounce the IPOB separatist ideology underpinning their violent act without denouncing the cause your forefathers fought for - so it's easier to claim the movement has been hijacked by criminals.

Now the question is, what do you want to the Army and the Airforce to do? the military cannot shoot an ideology. They cannot bomb a cause. They cannot arrest a 'non-violent movement' as you described it. As long as the ideology continues to proliferate, people will continue to act on it. And as long as people continue to act on that ideology, any military interference will continued to be framed within the original narrative of FG vs Biafra.

Since the civil war has nothing to do with it, and it's just a criminal issue...the let police handle it. Let you governors handle it. Let IPOB expel the criminals from their midst.

The original creator of ESN was Nnamdi kanu. When it started we all laughed because it sounded so ridiculous.

Same Nnamdi kanu who kept shouting the zoo must fall.

Same Nnamdi kanu who was running a pirate radio station.

Factos. I see the same thing here in the UK as well all the time. You see extremely conservative muslims who ran away from Pakistan to live in the land of the infidel. Case in point Shemima Begum that is now trying to return to the UK from Syria instead of enjoying the caliphate she so much desires out there.

Nnamdi kanu does not speak for all igbos. There are some who loves him and still speak highly of him, then there are so many who are sick of what the whole situation has become.

You are speaking from far away. You dont know what's going on here.

Many of these people who still adore him do not believe that kanu has a hand in all the violent actions of any group which must have exploited the opportunity to emerge and perpetrate their criminal interest. However, some of us believe that there wouldn't be any crime if kanu didn't make such incendiary comments. It made way for politicians to use cult boys to hack their opponents..and then pin it on unknown gunmen. Many kidnap groups have sprung up, and they are all grouped as unknown men and by extension, IPOB.

Your major interest is your Tinubu, who some guys here are asking to take the bull by the horn. That's none of my concern first. You can't see a post of mine calling on the FG to do what our Governors and elites should have spoken up against. My blame have solely been on the Governors..both online and offline.

Ok no lele.

I'm sure your Governors will do the needful and fish out the criminal elements, and leave the peaceful IPOB members who lost family members to the Nigerian Army during the civil war, and just want to leave Nigeria by only peaceful means, with absolutely no agitation at all.

Shouldn't be too hard to do.

Oasisx this is what I have been telling you

When Tinubu sends soldiers that's when you will start hearing that UGM was just a bunch of boys doing MINOR or Zero damages before Tinubu brought soldiers to kill innocent people. You will see how they will turn it into "mere sit at home" before Tinubu in his hatred brought murderers

Now we are hearing that IPOB didn't do much bad in Rivers State that it was just harmless sit at home despite killing policemen

Kanu was ordering hits on policemen and police posts while in exile yet they are here telling us that the movement was peaceful until Buhari arrested Kanu

Now we are hearing from elites again that the solution is to release the same Nnamdi Kanu who ordered hits on Nigerian security forces and was giving orders on how to attack prominent Nigerians including the current president

Go to many online postings some are even claiming that it's Tinubu and external forces sending those UGM to kill that is before any FG force. Imagine what the narrative will be when FG actually send troops

SE leaders must be fully onboard and get their approval before anything happens otherwise it might degenerate into a full blown Civil War again with the SE elites sitting comfortable in their mansions tweeting, news conferencing and egging the youths to continue agitation

The governors won't do it. They are only concerned about the next election.

They know what needs to be done but they also know it's the easiest way to lose the next election.

I once watched an interview of Amaechi where he said any governor that tells you he does not control the military and police is lying.

When it's time to use the same military and police to rig elections, they know how to do it.

The powers they have over the law enforcement agents is not absolute but they definitely have some form of control.

My opinion.
I think deep down some or most might support Biafra or a seperation but I don’t think people Stan Nnamdi Kanu or Ipob that much especially now with the killings.

People are trying to force the two scenarios together but it ain’t cooking and the South East leaders not even helping matters with how they keep saying he should be released.

How many protest have you seen in the east of people saying Kanu should be released if he’s that loved?

If you give any region in Nigeria a once in a lifetime opportunity to be a country on its own, they’ll take it.

Go to South West or South South and see if you can’t gather 5000 boys, pay them 200k or whatever per month to be shooting up everywhere every Monday shouting sit at home.

Give foolïsh people an opportunity to make money and gain power….the world becomes dangerous.

Any ungoverned space will always be filled by those who felt they should be in charge.

The SE is lacking proper central leadership that people can rally towards, some people saw that in Kanu and embraced him totally, the elites and politician decides to play along and use him to further their own interest, now they cant seems to go against the same person and principle that they have once supported.

Exactly… People think someone like Kalu abi Abaribe are standing as surety because they like Kalu Abi it’s all self interest.

I swear Buhari made that clown popular with that first arrest…. Suddenly dude started going to Israel and turned messiah.

He was popular before the first arrest. He was using Radio biafra to spew bile against the North and the SW on a consistent basis with a lot of fabricated lies.

The issue of biafra is a very sensitive topic that can change the mode of conversation into an emotional rollercoaster in a matter of minute. A large number of people identify with that struggle, that's how Kanu was able to ammase the plenty followers that he got.

I didnt help that PDP has totally run down the governance of the SE then so the masses see Biafra as their lightening hope to prosper the region (At least that's what Kanu promised).

When Buhari arrested Kanu, it just spark an outrage that the one speaking for them wants to be silenced, the elites looked away and the elected officials decided to play the ostrich.
