Could the bold be because the majority of the people support the end goal of the agitators and partly believe they are freedom fighters with the evil Nigerian govt tagging them as terrorists
That's one aspect of it.

Look at Hope Uzodinma for instance, he can't win any election that is free and fair in IMO state. Part of his offence is that he brought the Nigerian Army to kill innocent Igbos in Orlu.

It's not even about David being vindicated. That Uju Anya just hates men and women who are in relationship with men. So she'll say anything to bring drags to heterosexual women. She doesn't care.

Growing up while reading government textbooks in secondary school , I was of the opinion that the French policy of assimilation in the French speaking regions of Africa is far more superior and beneficial to Africans than the British’s indirect rule .

Now all grown having access to different news articles , propaganda and media reports I somehow feel the French didn’t mean well for Africa at all compared to their British counterparts .

Looking at how militancy groups spring up in different French African countries the moment france feels they are losing grip of such country, how France just goes after it’s interests in those countries before anything all makes it feel like the French are really ruthless but nobody talks enough about them

This is a good topic of discussion. I think both have had eras of benefit when compared. Nigeria benefited immensely from the indirect rule and post colonization from Britain after independence. We were able to inculcate/ model the British academic curriculum into our education system. Also, many of our great leaders and nationals were able to travel to Britain to obtain good education which was beneficial for the development of the nation, post colonization as they were equipped with the technical knowledge needed to run different spheres of the economy. Britain were also influential in the installation of Democracy in Nigeria and while their impact is debatable for many, they were instrumental in helping us get our foreign debt wiped under Obasanjo. They have also been able to support in the fight against corruption in Nigeria. However, their impact have seemed to wane post 1999 as they are now grappling with immigration and the influx of nationals from the commonwealth.

The French, in comparison continue to hold a strong direct hold on their prior colonies. They have been instrumental in the direct determination of the electoral process and have not done much in the pursuance of democracy in former territories. Many former French colonies are grabbling with political instability. This is buttressed by the fact that former French colonies have some of the longest serving Presidents across Africa. However, in comparison to the British, the French have done well in the current era in investing in economies of their previous colonies and their immigration policies are more favorable now which is opposite of the British.

Overall, both have their pros and cons.

Well, from my own point view like u mentioned I observed the French makes it easy for citizens of their former colonies to integrate into the French society ( At least we saw how a black dominated French team won the World Cup ) ….. but I think there’s more to be desired as to how their ex colonies have fared politically .

Since I was in primary school the president of Cameroon has always been Paul Biya . He’s still their president till date . I remember how the answer to the president of Togo has always been Gyansigbe Eyadema ( I don’t know if I got the spellings right ) when we were practicing for common entrance , then his son took over after his demise . I think same was applicable to Joseph Kabila of Congo .

It appears the democracy which the British always champion in their ex-colonies is not really a big deal to the French At all. I also observed that there’s been accusation of the French sponsoring militancy groups/rebels in places like Cote D’Ivoire, Mali, etc .

Methinks the French do not necessarily consider their ex-colonies interest that much compared to the English who will do anything to continue democracy . I mean that explains the English despite always noting the irregularities during our elections will still recognize whoever becomes the president through the flawed electoral process . That’s why I wasn’t surprised when the UK was eager for everyone to move on from the outcome of 2023 general elections despite acknowledging the irregularities therein

I think the French African colonies were modelled to continue serving and be dependent on France even after independence. The English African colonies were not that tied at the hip to England

I think the assimilation policy was still better for the francophone subjects than what the British gave us.

I've just come back from Afronation in Portugal, where I estimate up to 80% of attendees were black French citizens. Some if the greatest names in sporting history are children of black francophone assimilants.

What's happening in francophone countries is largely driven by greed of the African leaders themselves from Cameroon to the Congos, to CAR, to Ivory Coast, to Senegal and/or by Islamic separatism wey no send anybody papa like in Chad, Niger, Mali etc.
But Mali has been accusing France of training and arming terrorists in their country . Even at the height of the Biafran war, the British couldn’t be accused of arming rebels
