I would advise that you consider other options. Netherlands is having a severe housing crisis at the moment alongside an immigration crisis. This has created friction within the coalition party and they are calling for elections again. The government is even asking universities to limit the amount of international students being admitted as they won't have anywhere to stay. You can read all that up. They are also looking to revamp their post study laws so those who finish their studies go back to their country immediately after studies.

For him to be asking if 4k monthly is enough, it sounds like he already has a job there. I see no reason why he shouldn’t move if that’s the case. You can get your citizenship in 5 years in the Netherlands after coming in on work visa and you even get tax benefits for the first 5 years of your stay. People live there now and I don’t think it’s impossible for him to find accommodation on that income if he stays away from major cities at least.

I think that amount can be managed. Just stay away from major cities and encourage your spouse to get at least a part time job.

If it's a work visa then it's okay. I probably thought it was a study visa and his 4k was for proof of funds or something

Lol, once they revamp PSW law, nobody from underdeveloped country will applying for Netherlands study visa

Thanks a lot. I read about the resignation of their prime minister and the upcoming elections yesterday. Though, we aren't going for schooling....we got a job offer. Thanks again. Point noted about getting an accommodation too.

Edited: I think the company offered to find an accommodation for us, I would have to check again with them to be sure.

If it's a job offer don't waste time o. I thought it was schooling.

If accommodation is sorted, then you will have no problems in Holland with 4K euros a month.

My main issue with Holland currently is the housing wahala especially in big cities like Amsterdam, Rotterdam, The Hague & Groningen (with special emphasis on Amsterdam).

There is a serious housing shortage in Holland currently and you are very likely to be affected since you have a family of 4. (The Dutch government has a housing requirement for families of more than 3) so in your case you need a bigger apartment, which will be where the wahala begins. If you were going there as a single person, the case would have been different though. However since you stated your employers got that covered, then you are ok.

Holland is a great country asides the housing crisis.

The 30% Tax off will go a long way however whatever you do, do not get a car.

Thank you so much for this. Yes the 30% off tax is one of the most amazing things about NL. It makes things so much better.

Housing requirement? Hmm let me look that up. The employment coy says they would help find an accommodation, but it's still fingers crossed till we get there...hopefully we'll find something suitable.. we definitely hope to stay away from Amsterdam as we've been advised that apartments in the south of NL are more affordable. .


About the car, why please? Because of the vehicle tax? We were thinking of getting something small for mobility.....

Hi Bro, I'm EU resident looking to move to NL. I read online about housing crisis in NL. In your opinion is it true or just highexaggeration? How long do you think it will take me to secure a job, is it highly competitive? Are foreigners given a chance in the job market with Dutch.. I currently work in Tech as a network admin.
