Not only students but most school teachers both and in private and public schools have made the students to believe that without cheating th y cannot pass. Just the concluded SSCE (WAEC) was terrible in some schools. The same attitude of forgery we have on our politicians. The electoral bodies are not innocent too. |

Same thing is happening even amongst older adults. How do you think yahoo became popular among the youths? Stealing thrive in Nigeria at the highest level. Expect the bottom to be rotten. We are in the days of experiential learning. It is do as I do, no longer do as I say. |

Mmesonma genuinely scored 249 and because of her intransigence, some people who didn't score up to 150 now they see it as failure |

I honestly believe there is a great flaw in the education and teaching process, to begin with! As a teacher, I must certainly be doing something very wrong if most of my students believe passing exams is more important than being well-grounded in what they are being taught! If people are more desperate for certificates and high grades than being true authorities in their disciplines, then our educational system should be discarded, and revised! For a girl so brilliant to become this obsessed with scoring high in an exam instead of going far in her chosen academic and professional destiny is beyond worrisome! |

This issue demands urgent attention as it undermines the integrity of education and the development of valuable skills. Efforts must be made to restore confidence in students' own capabilities, fostering a culture of honesty and resilience in academia. |

ogododo:Wonderful interview this is quite informative....I like how He addressed the issue not shading a tribe but simply focused on the individual and the factors in the environment (society) that might have contributed to cheating. Change starts from the family grows into the society and affects the government however this is slow and might take some time like years but if there's a competent individual in the government either at State or Federal level, they can setup policies which encourage honesty and integrity this will affect both the family and society at large. Nigeria will be great again. |

Mmesoma just did not have the money and connections necessary otherwise she had enough people supporting her to pull it off and shamelessly ask the rightful highest scorer to GO TO COURT. Tinubu, has the money and connections and tribal support -watch what happens at the tribunal. We deceive ourselves in this country by pretending that DOING THE RIGHT THING PAYS. Buhari was a coup plotter, assasin, shekau of his era -yet Nigerians voted him president. Look at Ahmad Lawan in the senate -we are jokers. Remember Binani in Adamawa? Look at Peter Mba in Enugu or Hope Uzodinma in Imo. The next Mmesoma is taking lessons and will settle the right people to be declared the highest scorer -AND NOTHING WILL HAPPEN! No be Naija again. Anybody wey get problem, GO TO COURT! |

can this sadeast lecturer substantiate his claim further till say years 2000. is she just waking up today to learn that forgeries is common to mmesoma people and by the Nigerian independence day in 1960 president nnamdi azikwe produced hundreds of mmesoma that can speak broken English to fill up the federal civil service. this is one of the reasons igbo people don't actually trust the schools and education system to deliver to them their desired target of academic and government domination. the igbo people have been at it for a very long time, and sometimes ago they were boasting that Yoruba people started going to school before them but they equalize and beat them with numbers that Yoruba people can not match. ask around with your parents still living if this my assertion is false. igbo people hardly believe in credit and credible educational practices when it comes to issues of survival in Nigeria. they must be on top irrespective spirits is to much, I think this is what their leadership need to step down. in the days of yore Nigeria was not blessed with good schools and good well educated teachers as at today and they are in good numbers. there is virtually no community in Nigeria today that is lack a very good educational institutions and president Jonathan has done very well by making sure that every state of Nigeria federation has a federal university in domain. what remain now is time to fill up the schools and get quality graduates to serve their fatherland. European hardly drag superiority amongst themselves, maybe English and German do it in a very quality way with results and products to manifest such showing. it should be noted that too much emphasis on schools and certificate qualities is actually puting the student away from good reasoning and results in extreme arrogancy and thus the individual is usually isolated from the life realities and most times isolated from his immediate culture. this the main reason you wonder why highly western educated folks in Nigeria hardly have a good living experience. open your eyes and see around you. let Nigerian people and government shift focus to economic productivities and farming improvement and development. life does not end with certain schools and certificate, every human beings has a God given talent that could be developed further and every child should learn his father and mother trades. European people practices their father and mother trades and they are doing very well. a generation of people ahead of this Nigerian never suffered from want and evils as we have it today. it is because we have abandoned our family business practices. |

Truth is, the quality of teachers have declined over the years especially at institutional level. No psychological advantage over the kids only witch hunt and demotivational words. The errors comes majorly from our employees. |

Nigerians have been cheating and looking for ways to cheat before I was in Secondary school and after. This is not a new phenomenon. I still remember students looking for exam questions (Expose) in the 70s and 80s prior to WEAC Exams. Corruption and cheating are endemic in the Nigerian society. |

Most Nigerians do not know how to read between lines. The young girl concerned is not dull. She has a track record of brilliance from her nursery school days. Her common entrance result score was 344. So, what went wrong. It's purely my opinion but I think it makes sense. She probably wanted to have the best results so she could get a scholarship because of the poor family background. But it will only work with an insider who will monitor the scores and give her a little score above the highest score. And that was what probably happened. This is why I said that jamb should be investigated. There is an insider who is an accomplice in this matter. But jamb does not want the investigation done. So, they just labeled her a cheat. The fact remains that she could not have done it all alone. How did she do it? Why is the result reading the same value when a few others entered her details? If we do not get to the root, it will repeat itself. And a few students may have succeeded in getting the highest score in JAMB in years past through this method. |

What a daft statement, anyway I look at the name and it’s no surprise. Did the mesona not pass? Is 249 not a pass mark? The problem is people aspire beyond their capability and abilities because they have been conditioned to believe they can achieve anything. |

After reading all comments, I can see majority of people on this page didn't read to the end, the only thing of their brain is "The president did this, the president did that" ... Concerning government or no government, the person interviewed made reference to it, so what's the exaggeration? Nobody mentioned family! Or peer pressure in the comment section, just president here and there ... I pray we wise up The truth still remain, train up your child well and you also as a child should know the kind of people you walk with and the kind of information to accept as a fact into your brain. |
