I've had some skepticism about this movie... I knew it would be good and a critical darling but it success I was unsure.

After seeing the trailer now, I'm sure this going good for WB. It's December release date is the one giving me the biggest confidence. It's a movie primed for holiday audiences and not much competition this December asides from fellow WB movies.

I'm not even scared for The Batman. Scratch that, I initially thought you were talking about the Reeves movie.

He'd have a good to great script especially with Gunn spearheading things. Getting those first movies right is paramount. Since we're not focusing on Batman's first years we good. Especially with the Batfamily in tow.
I'm not so bothered. It's the writers name I wanna see first.

After watching all the trailers for WB upcoming slate (except Aquaman 2) I'm sure WB will bounce back this year at the box office.

It's gonna be a surprising come back story starting with Barbie.

My predictions for WB H2:

Barbie looks like $550-750mn with it's buzz and excitement.
Blue Beetle WILL DO Better than Flash. ~ I see $350-450mn
Meg 2. = $450mn-550mn
Aquaman 2 — around $600mn+
Wonka = $280-350mn it's a wildcard.
The Color Purple — under $170mn worldwide. Unpredictable for now, might do well or bad based on recent audience preferences.
The Nun 2 — $300mn+
Dune 2 — over $600mn for now. Possibly hitting $700mn+.

It's DC's highest grossing film ever unadjusted for inflation. 🤔🤔 It has a way of defying odds.
It's release date is perfect for me, not much competition and it seems to be the only TRUE blockbuster epic available for Xmas through new year's.
That's why I'm rating it that high even if the film ends up poorly received critically. It smells like Super Mario Bros defiance.

Or you're thinking about the crap rumours about it being poorly received in screenings.
NB: Screentest are just that. You can perform beautifully in screen audiences and become woeful in real theatrical audience. Ie Flash.

If the movie retains the same formula that worked for the first like getting the entertainment part right, great CGI and decent story, then it's a home run. It might underperform depending on the budget but it would do well at the box office.

So far, there's no big blockbuster competition for AQ2. I feel it'd be a Star Wars: TROS — hated by critics and fans but a box office juggernaut cos of the franchise and really no BIG competition in December. Its holiday season so it's chances is higher since peeps have no option than to take their family out for some viewings. Kids who liked the first one would be back also.

AQ2 has way lesser competition this December than when the original came out that some analyst were predicting it'd be devoured in the box office by the competition. We all know how it went.

It's wait and see sha.... Unless the movie is somewhat damn atrocious like Black Adam levels that I see it flopping hard.
