A40:one of the most geographically diverse and climate diverse country on the planet and the most in west africa (Cameroon is in central (middle) africa) with a massive landmass. 8-9 million babies born annually that will be more than 150 million in 20 years. There is about 30 million Indians living outside the country and they still have 1.4 billion inhabitants. Nigeria is the only country in west africa (16 countries) to have a plateau (Jos Plateau), a continental shelf (Benue Trough), desert (Yobe and Borno states), most varied types of sands (esp. the red and white sand), massifs, monoliths/inselbergs (Wase, Aso, Zuma, Olumo, Idanre, Dala), forests, savannah, caves, creeks, lagoons (10 in Lagos which is also the only place on earth were a populous island is inside it territory), waterfalls, rivers (River Niger which is mostly in the Nigerian territory is the largest in west africa and third largest in africa and then there is River Benue and thousands other rivers), mountains, hills, rocks, cliffs etc. We also had the best weather in the planet 7 months of "super" hot weather and west africa's winter- Harmattan, then 5 months of "insane" wet/rainy weather (even here in Osun amid the rainy season we still get at least 5 days of hotness it so uncomfortable for me after nearly 15 years in Ireland/Europe which have rain like 365/366 days a year 😂). We are also the most culturally diverse country in africa with over 250-400 ethnicities and 500-800 languages even every other Pidgin are now called Nigerian Pidgin (which will eventually become our official language with bits from every languages and fused with Nigerian English). Oh I almost forgot, Ibeno beach which is one of many beaches in the country is the largest beach in west africa. Aba and Kontagora are the the clothing design capitals of africa, highest twin birth rate in the world (igbo-ora is the twin capital of the world), the only country in sub-saharan africa (black africa) with 4 oldest cities (going back 1,000 years; just look at wikipedia every other countries in sub-saharan africa have just 1 or 2) and Ancient Nigeria (Prehistoric Nigeria) began with Nok Civilization which was only in what now Nigeria is over 3,600 years old even the village the Civilization is named after, Nok village still exist in what now Kaduna. The oldest boat in the whole of africa and second oldest on earth was found in Nigeria in Yobe state. We are also the most lax and conservative country on the planet Polygamy, Prostitution (which us an offence like everywhere else even in Ghana isn't here), Street Trading, napepe/okada riders, child marriage, lowest age of consent for sexual intercourse (depending on the state) no crap laws or things like Road tax, Income tax, TV License, Fishing license, generator license, noise disturbance regulation, near zero VAT and many more. Yoruba Nigerians also influence everything in Benin Republic (which is named after Benin City in Nigeria) and Hausa Nigerians influence everything in Niger Republic (also the largest ethnic group there like 53%) making both Nigeria's puppet states- they do everything we say. Like that music say "This is Nigeria" and that so true. I have always view black african as two race- Nigerian race (all the aboriginal tribes and language in the country) and black africans (Ghanaians, South Africans, Angolans, Kenyans etc.). We Nigerians are so unique in everything it's not even funny (the closest will be Cameroonians- both countries are also the only two in the whole of africa to have won gold in Olympic Football). God Bless Nigeria, Long Live Nigeria. Fun fact: Nigeria is the only country in Africa and one of the fewest to have not altered/change its name since 1914 and the only country on wikipedia to have it colonised era named "Colonial Nigeria". What I meant was when Nigeria existed Ghana was Gold Coast, and Ethiopia was Abyssinia etc. (Not even USA have a "Colonial USA" which is just 13 colonies) |

mrvitalis:I have said the same thing many times. Nigeria population is not more than 100million, a country where death rate is very high. The stats they use to make this assumptions is 2006 census, where politicians padded and inflated census figures for their benefits. It's 100% impossible for Lagos to be 20million. These people won't see it. A state with 20million people is struggling to get 3million adult voters |

mrvitalis:Let me educate you, highest I go recieve insult as usual. First and foremost, Benin is not in the equation. The major religion is Christianity, so no population explosion due to limitations on the number of wives. Islam there is 24 percent. Same thing with Cameroon having 20 percent Islam population. Now to Niger, an Islamic country: Niger population in 1980 was 6.2 million Link: https://www.macrotrends.net/countries/NER/niger/population In 2020, the population grew to 23million Link: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Niger Nigeria population almost doubled and you are complaining and telling me to compare it to Niger. Let's compare it: Niger. 23million - 6.2 million =16.8 million 16.8 ÷ 6.2 =2.72 So Niger population increased X2.72 In the case of Nigeria:. 206 million - 76 million = 130 million 130 ÷ 76 = 1.71 So Nigeria population has exploded 1.71 times it's original size. We still dey lean work for were Niger dey. It's very simple, lack of birth control lead to population explosion. Islam (most especially the poor ones) do not do birth control. It's the obvious truth. It's the obvious truth. |

Lekan239:1980 may be close to accurate than what is obtainable now .. Now, more population figure gives you more voting strength and more allocation. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.vanguardngr.com/2014/09/believes-lie-people-north-south/amp/ Go through this link and let me hear your position about our population figures. |

tolue42:Population isn't our problem, it's a great merit we failed to harness for good use Resources God gave us in Nigeria are more than enough to take care of 500m people 1. Rice from Tudun Wada, Kano; Yobe, Gassol, Taraba; and Niger state is enough 2. Beans from Niger, Dandume and Jibia, Katsina; Illela, Sokoto, and Borno 3. Tomatoes from Danja and environs, tatashe from Pambegwa and environs, rodo from Dutsin Wai, Kaduna and Jega, Kebbi are enough For tech, picks from LAUTECH and Owerri For solid minerals, Nasarawa and Kogi For crude oil, Bayelsa and Rivers Etc, etc We are so blessed |

tolue42:how can population be a problem? People are a strength if the people are wise and resourceful. The problem is wisdom and non productivity. USA, China, India are leveraging their population for good. |

Plus Nigeria have being #1 in Yam, #1 in Cassava in the world for over 100 year, we are also #1 in Kolanut (which brings like 2 million dollars annually) in the world, #1 in Rice in Africa, #1 in Cement in sub-saharan Africa. We also have the most dishes/cuisines in the world all originating in the Nigerian territory or it aboriginal ethnicities. |

VeeVeeMyLuv:Population is always an asset if well harnessed and managed. China is ahead because of population whereas the US has more resources but not as much population. Hundreds of millions paying income tax is a very big advantage for any nation |
