Joe Biden has told him he's just wasting his time considering NATO membership. "It's premature to discuss Ukraine joining NATO now, not while it is at war". -Biden.
Some challenges are there:
1. Tackle govt corruption

3. Complete civilian control of all military.

The above cannot be confirmed to be done until after like 5 successive civilian presidents have passed in Ukraine.NATO membership process could take Ukraine over 30 years even if they start it today.
