I'm pretty sure Nigerians will start avoiding the UK, at least those for MSc.
the incentives for them are already wiped off. higher cost equivalent in naira, no dependent, increased visa cost and insurance.
why will anybody be willing to waste £45k for a masters degree in the UK when there are good alternatives like SE Asia, Belgium, Germany, Austria and Canada?
I just wonder

what threshold. Does anybody earn below 12k pounds a year. And if tinubu tax you people will keep screaming yet u can go to another country and get taxed heavily .
Why will Tinubu be taxing when he knows very well that many percent of the people are jobless, and even most of them that are earning do earn peanut

Despite with all this increase in price of everything in Nigeria, I still sees companies posting jobs advert of 30k, 40k, 45k and 50k jobs online, because they know many percent of the people are jobless and many will surely still apply for the job and glady take the offer. Is that what u expect the citizens to be paying tax with?

The UK government don't tax people above what they earn, but Tinubu is currently taxing Nigerians above what they earn

You only pay more tax if you earn above a threshold.

And even with the taxes, the country is still 100000000 times better than naija.
Just say U.K is far better than Nigeria, simple. It's not 100000000 better.

I doubt if you have left the shores of Nigeria for once.

UK is the easiest western country to migrate. That's the truth nd simple answer. U can enter UK with less than 5 million packaging. Admission into uk schools no get wahal at all.
UK is a casr of at all at all, na him bad pass.

To attempt Canada relocation, u must have nothing less than 20 million in real cash in your account. The express entry score alone na die.

For Australia, the screening process is tedious and student visa application not too straightforward. Rejection rate is very high.

The only way to enter USA now is student visa. First u write SAT or GMAT, then get school admission which ain't easy. Finally u go and play Russian roulette at the American embassy. U need to see how people are bounced during visa interview. Everybody in the hall will know u've been rejected.

Most European countries have language barriers, without learning the language u can't get good jobs and build a successful career. Most Nigerians in Europe eventually end up relocating to UK due to this issue of language barrier.

China and Russia is out of it. People travel so that they can send money home. Wages in those countries are nothing to write home about. Wetin u wan do with 300 dollars per month. U may live a good live in the countries but nothing else.

Pls don't advice Nigerians to travel to Japan or Singapore. They are not immigrant friendly towards Africans. U will end up wasting years stuck in a place without anything to show for it.

Arab gulf countries is actually a good option for professionals and career people. I'm surprised u didn't mention it.
Who still the write sat or gmat for USA uni. Lol

They are boosting their revenue. Nigerian government should benefit from neighboring nations, all those Cotonu, Niger republic and Togo people must have residential and work permit before living or working in Nigeria.

Do you blame them, we all desire to migrate to the UK, the day I went to the IOM office in Abuja to run my TB test really pity for Nigeria as a country.

I was more curious about the number of candidates that came for their Test as well, I was given tag 41 waiting for my turn the number then was up to 80+ and still counting before I was called to enter another room. Still, people were coming in.
Mind you these were on the UK candidates, the Canadas, Australians, etc have their buildings separate.

IOM still has an office in Lagos as well I don't know the number of applicants there but I believe it will amount to a reasonable figure.

A test in an IOM center for adults costs over 57,800 per candidate. Statistically, IOM makes an average of 9-10 million naira every day for TB scan alone. With that figure in my head, I can only weep for this country.

Another one that pains me so much is the IELTS exam, why subject Nigerians to an English proficiency test, an MSc applicant from Nigeria has over 16years if not more in his/her study life, using English as a mode of instruction, all these are avenues to remit money back to their countries I guess.

Nigerians spend so much money just to travel out but do I blame them undecided fix this country and all this queuing in Embassy will reduce drastically.
The black race of west African sub region lacks the mental capacity to properly manage their affairs. Fixing this place is impossible

Nigerians fix your country and make it better..God has blessed nigeria with a lot of natural resources..crude oil, gas, mineral resources, fertile land for agriculture,...so there is no excuse for Nigeria not to be a better developed country with all this natural resources...bad goverance by our incompetent greedy politicians has also contributed to the bad situation of the country... with all this natural resources God has blessed nigeria with they is no need for nigerians to Japa to UK or abroad to seek for greener pastures and seek for a better life over there.. if nigerians and our politicians and leaders make good use of these all resources and provide good goverance

Thanks for the information. I want to advice that you increase it by 10000% I am less concerned because your visa or IHC is not me, I enjoy for NIJA. Very, very soon, you will need to pay heavy visa fee to enter Nigeria.

Japan Is actually immigrant friendly. Singapore is the one that is deadly. I won't even advise anyone to study there even if they get a scholarship. That country is only for singaporeans. Getting a US student visa as hard as it is, is actually the easy part. Staying back after school is where the real hardship starts. Getting a US green card through the study route Is very very difficult except through marriage. I think people should learn languages. In Canada express entry those who know how to speak french are getting picked. Imagine a 375 score yesterday. People should learn languages now. It expands the options. A smart Nigerian youth should utilise their service year to learn a foreign language to intermediate level.

The UK has definitely run out of ideas on how to improve their earnings. That's why they are turning to taxing immigrants.

By the way, I was just studying how countries around the world tax their people. I realise that the UK should be the highest in the world.

Honestly, I hail Nigerians who live in the UK. How can someone cope in a country where you can pay income tax of about 45% coming from a country where you pay peanuts in taxes?
You better face reality than those paper statistics. Overall, after working in UK for ten years, compare your achievement with what you achieved while working in Nigeria for same ten years or even Fifteen years. The difference is glaring. Nigeria is better only if you are really rich or a made politician, not just some follow follow politician oo.

I thought they wanted to stop immigrants from coming in?

So if they stop the migrants, how would they see funds to implement increase in health workers salary?

It seems they aren’t serious.
It is not possible to stop people from migrating. They can only control the rate at which people move into their country.

Thanks for the information. If you like increase it by 10000% I am less concerned, all I know is I don't need UK Visa, Nigeria will soon be a better place such that you will need to pay heavily to access our own visa too. Wait, goodness is already loading...

one of our main problem is overpopulation. Thats why we have 113 million living in poverty. A country must develop in its citizens through education before meneral resoures. if not the country will never grow.
Re: UK To Increase Visa Fees, Health Charges For Migrants by Alpharey: 7:55am On Jul 15, 2023
Anything to make their country better for its inhabitants unlike Nigeria where the primary Target of the majority is how to fight against Igbo man to make sure he doesn't succeed. Forgetting that naturally, you don't progress by holding another person down. A country where the leaders milk the resources dry while the masses cheer them on and worship them so far they come from the same tribe. Sometimes I pause to observe the st*pidity of some of my fellow Nigerians. Even if the UK increase the fee by 100% Nigerians will have no choice but to still pay by their teeth just to escape this shit hole.

Alternative way to restrict students tripping into UK with their dependants.

Nothing concern me with with UK visa, I would rather reject the visa the way I reject SA visa.

IOM dey play sef where Qlife medical facility dey concerning their Visa medical examination charges. United States two acceptable medical facilities in Nigeria are just Qlife in Lagos and IOM in both Lagos and Abuja. Qlife fees are way higher than IOM. I paid almost #140k in 2022 during my US Visa medical examination at Qlife in Lagos State.
Isn't that funny, they all knew what they are doing making their money from Nigeria Immigrants, in all these how many TB-positive candidates have they detected, the number would be significantly low.
They are just in for the money, I know they provided jobs for our brothers and sisters in their facilities but truth be it's a rip-off.

What is your tax doing for you In your country's apart from been siphoned for govt for personal use. Or are u glorifying the 8k monthly for poor house hold as compensation for all the taxes in Nigeria.

In uk , its free health care and emergency care for all, free school till secondary level. Security and good roads.

What are they taxing you for In Nigeria. When you even have oil and other natural resources. Compare it with other oil producing nation and see where Nigeria is

What's the minimum wage in nigeria. Someone with minimum wage in uk can still save a minimum of 300 pounds per month after all taxes, and expenses. That's even more than your salary In Nigeria.
