This question is a very stupid question.

Because in this context, "defeating Russia" is not necessarily invading them and overpowering them completely.

The west is seeking to inflict a "strategic defeat", which means simply removing Russia out of Ukraine. Pushing Russia out of Ukraine and recovering Crimea.

If that happens, that will be a humiliating loss for Russia on the international stage but it wouldn't be a complete defeat and subjugation like Nazi Germany or Japan which the conquering nations now occupied fully.

So to answer this question, if the west achieves it's aim which is to essentially send Russia back, the aim of Ukraine entering NATO will now be against any FUTURE threat from any non-nato allied force.

I, for example apply the standards to others that I apply for myself. I sure as hell wouldn't like any other country to invade me claiming that I must join them by force when a vast majority of my countrymen don't want to join them.

I enjoy the perks of democracy. I like the fact that no matter as buhari or Jonathan or any of my state governor, no matter how they Bleep up reach, they must surely come down from there when their time is up.

This is a very stupid take and comparison.

First; What makes Russia an autocratic regime?

Secondly, I don't know who told you Russia wants to Ukraine to join them.

The US, EU etc violently overthrew (in their usual manner) a validly elected popular government because it was seeking closer ties with Russia. Then they started violently the areas who were pro-Russian and has Russian ancestry. Notable examples include the massacre in the soon-to-be liberated Odessa where about 50 Russians were barricaded and burnt to death inside the Trade Union office, and the formation of the far-right Neo-Nazi Azov brigade in the now liberated city of Mariupol sorely to attack Russians living in Eastern Ukraine. ( I can point you to multiple Western news reports and documentries of the massacres committed by Azov, especially on Vice News which I watch pretty often before they joined the NAFO bandwagon; that's if they have now not been).
