my brother I was earning that in Lagos before COVID I can tell u it's not worth it. I was living in a shared apartment and I spend little on rent yet I can't save money I can spend a lot on groceries and health. No time for myself the job was demanding. Couldn't save up to 200k in a year can u see how bad it is. I doubled my hustle increased it to 260k I didn't know more problem I got tired easily because I come home late. My brother just manage it but it not worth it. Was living on the isalnd my house at badore work at VGC yet I can't save Lagos is terrible. Left after COVID.

Your Rent Should not exceed 400k annually, cut cost by buying foodstuff in bulk at Food Market, save cost on transportation by leaving home very early(mobility are cheaper by then, though very risky), have a savings of 50k monthly.

The salary is very small . The job your doing is there any extra by the side?. Let's do it like this everything is percentage . 1) rent per month 15% salary N22,500 per month or N270,000 per year ( room and parlour). 2) Food 15% salary N22,500 ( target to eat N500 per plate or less) . 3)entertainment /hygiene 10% of salary or N15,000 monthly ( your girlfriend falls under entertainment so target working lady to reduce cost avoid students please). So far 55% of your salary has been spent you have 45% left. I will suggest you save 30% and use 15% for gifts, transportation and religious donation.

You can manage nah BREAKDOWN

1) eat Akara and pap in the morning=#200

2) beans and yam in the afternoon=#200

3) eat fufu and egusi soup without meat=#200
#600 daily x 30 days in a month=#18000
4) Transportation = use your legs
5) Womanizing= zero tolerance
6) Alcoholic= Take action bitter once in a week #200 * 4 weeks in a month= #800
7) house rent= get a room of #5000 per month

18000 + 800 + 5000=#23800.

#150000-#23800= #126200 gain

It depends on where you live in Lagos. Do you live on the island? .... or Makoko? Does it cost much to get to work? There is no set standard of living based on salary only.... N150K salary in Lagos can be heaven .... or it can be hell.

Transportation will take close to 40% of it in the absence of staff bus, followed by house rent. 90% of lagosians lives far from their places of work. It would be a herculean task to save. I was lucky during my own time. I started with this N150k salary when I joined an investment bank in 2004 just after my NYSC. I had the luxury of going and coming to work by staff bus and stayed with a relative for close to six years - so, no rent payment. I even felt that the N150k salary was much then as I practically wasn't spending anything except to buy my tokunbo Zara suites and shoes. My host was also doing well and didn't need any contribution from me. However, I did brought home, the yearly one bag of rice, Jerricans of ground oils, cartoons of tomatoes and frozen Turkey shared by my company every Christmas to staff.

To manage your salary,divide your costs into fixed and variable costs. See how you could manage the variable costs and how to negotiate better, the fixed costs. Good luck!

In this Tinubu regime? Abeg 200k job in Lagos is not a job at all. Imagine you spend 5 liters of fuel everyday to your working place, how many liters will you spend in a month? 5*7*4=140.
Multiply 140 by 520 then you will get #72,800.00
Rent is waiting
Hospital bill
Feeding
Children school fees
Etc.
As for me I will not work in Lagos if my salary is only 200k.
