Funny but I care to ask how people are surviving.

33k can never be okay for a single person in a month when you add Transport and other necessities

It's beyond him removing the subsidy or removing it when he did cheesy
Like he said, day one he hit the ground running. The problem now be say brake to slow down don get problem and he can't stop accelerating.

They are saying we dodged a bullet with OBI, but be like na landmine we embrace so.

The fuel price and dollar rise will favour me and my family🙏

They should have fixed electricity nationally and then improved transport network in the major cities first. Then when the fuel burden on the average citizen is lower you remove subsidy.

There are 2 problems with that. 1) I don’t know just how broke the country is. 2) Those measures would probably take 2-3 years which might make it too close to the next election cycle with potential for electoral backlash.

Those measures should have been in place before removing the subsidy IMO though. With the way Nigerians depend on fuel to do pretty much everything I am actually impressed with their resilience in these times.
Resilience or docile nature.
But you also know the thing with Nigerians na say their anger once e start nor dey quick end and e dey very deadly

When i saw that 70 billion for Senate and 40 billion for Judiciary, I cursed the day i supported subsidy removal.

This tenure can hardly be better than the former.

Na the same leg dem take dey waka.
The thing is those of us not supporting subsidy removal are not doing so because we hate the government or we are oblivious of the fact that Nigeria is broke, instead we recognize the fact that removing subsidy will not solve our problems. We know the poor man will still suffer while they will keep sharing whatever savings they make from the removal at the national and state levels.

U can see them settling themselves and even made provision for NJC such that even If u go to court to scuttle the process, the judiciary won't bat an eyelid cos they are also beneficiaries.

We are in for a long ride in this administration sha, make we just brace ourselves up for impact

You never answer the question naa..

What period should he have removed it?

Because what you'll see is a sharp rise from 189 to 617, if he removed it today.

People would have endured if they didn't see frivolous spendings from his tenure in less than 2 months.

I should buy fuel for 617, while less than 500 people manage 70 billion as palliatives?

He should've removed it when he knew the impact won't be too much as it is currently.

He knew he was going to abolish the multiple exchange rate, he knew the exchange rate was going to affect the price of the fuel and the likes, yet he went ahead and does both at the same time with no breathing space.

And then allocate 110 to both NASS and Judiciary.

These guys no dey touch grass.

That apc has butchered the process is no fault of ours
How would you have trusted any Naija politician not to butcher anything? This was our point from day one. We never trusted that these thieves will do anything with the money. Events are starting to prove us right.

The issue here is why it should keep on increasing, and at the same time, the best tenure yet is sharing pallatives for Akpabio and the rest.

Yes and one of Tinubu promises was to create a price control board to regulate against this kind of thing.

Is that not one of the things he should've put in place first?

NNPCL has said they are increasing to 617.

If you don't buy it today or tomorrow, you will still buy it at that rate.

Wetin be the "Thank you" there?
1) NNPCL has a price template. The price varies across Nigeria (due to delivery costs)

2) nnpc has fixed the rates it's stations and franchises can sell it's own product.

3) deviations from this are grounds for disciplinary action. I have repeatedly seen different stories in the news and on this platform about higher prices of fuel, but every nnpc in lagos is still selling at 488.

To the best of my knowledge though I would have to enquire, there is no current approval to sell over 600.

I said Tinubu should wait and access things himself before removing the subsidy, that way he can access the impact of the removal and how to mitigate against the severity of the impact on the majority of the people.

Just announcing subsidy removal the day he was sworn in without critically accessing the situation is reckless.

Its been more than a month and no measures is in sight.
Subsidy was already removed by the Buhari admin, Tinubu merely restated that fact. Payments for subsidy was supposed to stop end of July, removal of subsidy was never the issue, all three candidates promised to remove subsidy...handling of the subsidy removal is what Tinubu's admin would be judged with.

Because reports showed we didn't have money again to pay for the subsidy.
NNPC already said FG had not repaid their loans and that it was affecting their operational cost.
What would you expect us to do?

Infact if he had taken just 6 months to access and plan properly how to go about it, the fuel subsidy removal and palliative might have rolled out at the same time.

Maybe not fix but improve it significantly .Reduce the burden on the common man. People buying gallons of petrol for every gaddem thing. Build a good public transport network for some of the major cities reducing how much car owners spend on petrol and how many cars are on the streets.

Then you can remove the subsidy. Nigerians just have spiritual levels of resilience if not wahala for don shele

Nigerian leaders have the kind of boldness that only people using superior otumokpo have.

They are doing forensic audit and yet awarded themselves billions of naira.

Are you not seeing the effect of the removal now?

Buhari that was shouting subsidy payment is a scam before he was elected in 2015, when baba got there, didn't he continue paying the salary? You have to access things by yourself and then make decision on how to go about it.

Tinubu was reckless with that subsidy removal announcement on his inauguration speech and that's what he's struggling with right now. I doubt Atiku or Obi will remove subsidy on their first day in office.

Like i said before, this will be a defining moment in his administration, whatever he will make of it depends on how all these play out. he has started on a bad ground, the rest is up to him and his team.

People will adjust and have to a very large extent, adjusted. There was a time in Nigeria when owning a generator was a signal of wealth, and most families used kerosene lamps or rechargeable lanterns...going back to that phase is no biggie really. Personally I use generators sparingly now; I'm more conscious of how I use power and have embraced public transportation...that adjustment you refer to has happened. It was difficult, but most persons have adjusted.

Tinubu is now at the phase where he's been judged post subsidy removal...crying over the removal of subsidy or when it was removed is at this point a non-issue and detracts from the real issues.

There was a transition phase of over a month, that's the period for these assessments you refer to, it's not like it was a transition between oppossing parties, it was an APC-APC transition.

It's almost 2 months since BAT was sworn in, he's yet to announce his ministerial list and even the names flying around as potential ministers under his cabinet shows the man is unserious.

Crying over subsidy removal that people have to a large extent adjusted to is a distraction.
