Tuchel on Mané: "Sadio fell short of the expectations last season. The competitive situation is extremely high for him. We have a constellation that makes it very difficult for Sadio. The player knows that too. I know his opinion, he knows my opinion and that of the club." He has a contract and wants to stay. And we respect that. But it's only the first day of training and a lot of things can happen in football." |

raumdeuter:Pkasso, did Manè not amass 16 G/A for Bayern last season? Tuchel is here saying Mané did not meet the expectations Bayern had before acquiring him because that is how it works in the real world. You succeed or fail based on the expectations placed on you by your employer. I am using this opportunity to reply your post on Grealish and where you misconstrued my stance. Grealish did not need 16G/A to meet the expectations Pep and by extension City levied on him because that is not what was expected of him. You don't need to like it or agree with it. You may not even rate it highly but his employer's assessment of him matters more. |

raumdeuter:lol. You guys got a washed up mane not the peak version. Shey when I was telling A40 and you, una dey argue? People like us that have been watching this guy steady without sentiments saw the handwriting on the wall. Klopp actually covered him up somewhat with that switch to CF which reinvigorated him for a short while Selling him for 30m was a good deal. |

kendrick93:Mane was in the EPL team of the year and flopped hard next season at Bayern, Same with Cancelo and he flopped hard Same with Hazard, Same with Coutinho All these guys came from a stellar EPL season and flopped To some extent Joe Hart and Sane Maybe it has to do with the EPL tax |

kendrick93:Hazard spent 4 unproductive years in Madrid Cancelo could not make it at Bayern despite being one of EPL bests a year ago Which Coutinho balled at Bayern? If he played very well, he would be at Bayern now, not sent back after 1 season |
| Re: Offical Bayern Munich Fan Thread: 6x Champions Of Europe by Android17: 8:22pm On Jul 18, 2023 |
pkasso:What are the expectations? What was City missing that Grealish was to provide? Remember, City never had issues with scoring or creating goals. It was always about balance. Grealish provided it. How you want to quantify it is not your prerogative- it is City's to do. Can Grealish score and assist more? Of course and that should be on his own personal ambitions. But as per his RnRs, he met it. He met the expectations set for him. The proof is the fact that he became virtually untouchable as far as team sheets were concerned. By the way, everyone knew that his market value was £60M but he had a £100M release clause which City preferred to trigger than haggle prices with Villa who would have Daniel Levied us. To that end, he was worth the £100M. In fact, I'll take Grealish's role for City over prime Hazard or Kvara (and definitely over Kingsley) who may outperform him in the metrics everyone likes but would have watched Salah and numerous other wingers skin the LB for City on the other end. Grealish wouldn't. |
| Re: Offical Bayern Munich Fan Thread: 6x Champions Of Europe by kendrick93(m): 8:23pm On Jul 18, 2023 |
raumdeuter:Coutinho just like James Rodriguez previously were very good at Bayern. Bayern just couldn't afford the fee. Cancelo is out of favour at mancity which is why he was sent out on loan not even a straight forward sale. |

Android17:Taking Grealish over prime Hazard is a wild take. You can't be serious.. Some opinions are outright laughable |

kendrick93:What was Hazard going to add to City that was missing and would have made a difference? Let us start from there. |
| Re: Offical Bayern Munich Fan Thread: 6x Champions Of Europe by raumdeuter: 12:20am On Jul 19, 2023 |
kendrick93:Bayern couldnt afford what fees? Coutinho that Barcelona was hawking all over like akara How much did Villa pay for him that Bayern cannot afford |
| Re: Offical Bayern Munich Fan Thread: 6x Champions Of Europe by pkasso(m): 11:11am On Jul 19, 2023 |
Android17:Your first three statements are fallacious as they come. When we apply the same argument to Haaland, you see how it falls short. "What was City missing that Haaland was to provide? Remember City never had problems scoring goals." Then why did they buy Haaland? Was it for balance? Pep switched to playing 3 CBs and Stones in midfield, but it is Grealish we should praise for providing balance. Him being a starter is not really a big deal when his only competition at LM was Foden who got injured and couldn't get back into the starting XI because Pep didn't want to tamper with a team that was on a winning streak. Coman's defensive work rate is just as good if not even better than Grealish's. He played a similar role under Nagelsmann last season and still came up with the goods offensively. Stop making it look like Grealish's role was some sort of game changer that deserves all of the applause in the world. |

raumdeuter:Him dey craze. Where is this energy for Sane and Gnabry that have been playing rubbish for the past two seasons. A good man manager would try to build up his psyche and see if we can squeeze one good season out of him. Nobody is going to come and bail us out unless Bayern want to terminate his contract and sell him for scraps. |
| Re: Offical Bayern Munich Fan Thread: 6x Champions Of Europe by A40(m): 1:34pm On Jul 19, 2023 |
kendrick93:Mane had a devastating injury midseason. Even missed the world cup and didn't come back till like February or so. Not his fault that he was given no grace. |
| Re: Offical Bayern Munich Fan Thread: 6x Champions Of Europe by kendrick93(m): 1:48pm On Jul 19, 2023 |
Android17:Apart from keeping possession what exactly does Grealish add to that city team? Remove Him and City would still win games.. He can keep the ball in tight spaces and draw fouls but Hazard was on different level when it comes to that. Hazard was the best dribbler apart from Messi in world football for a good number of years along with adding goals, assists and creativity.. Pep would have loved a prime Hazard... |

raumdeuter:You had Muller.. We know Muller would always be first choice due to German tax.. |
| Re: Offical Bayern Munich Fan Thread: 6x Champions Of Europe by raumdeuter: 2:17pm On Jul 19, 2023 |
kendrick93:Basically he couldnt displace Muller, he couldnt displace Coman (German tax too) So what is his use He has found his level at Aston Villas bench |
| Re: Offical Bayern Munich Fan Thread: 6x Champions Of Europe by Android17: 2:44pm On Jul 19, 2023 |
pkasso:I wish you would make relevant citations rather than just brandish us with your own conjectures for the expectations City had for Grealish. The Haaland angle is flatter than a straight surface. City never had a scoring problem - City had an efficiency issue with regards to scoring. Too many chances being missed and sometimes coming off as 1-D. Haaland came to IMPROVE City's finishing (tap-ins, penalties, direct play) and provide a more dynamic scoring system than what City had to deal with playing without strikers. Did he do that? Yes. That's how to assess the player. Riyad scored 24 goals one season and was benched the very next season because City rated the goals way less than stat lovers would have. And when it comes to City, you will need more insight than Stones playing midfield to make your argument more robust. Rico Lewis was playing that role this last season before Stones was ever used there and Grealish was still providing the balance for City. Pep even had to force Foden to the right side of the wings just to keep Jack on that left which again, negates your argument head-on. I saw Kingsley Coman play City home and away and maybe Tuchel relieved him of those defensive duties you are speaking about because at no point did City worry about Bayern's defending in any part of the pitch least of all when Coman was trying to do it. See if you can make that argument a little bit more believable because as it currently stands, even you know e no make. ![]() |
| Re: Offical Bayern Munich Fan Thread: 6x Champions Of Europe by Android17: 2:55pm On Jul 19, 2023 |
kendrick93:Grealish is tactically superior to Eden. He reads the game better, is a better team player and influences the game on both ends of the pitch with his workrate which Eden does not have. Of course, Eden is more dynamic in attack and the better dribbler but that did not translate well to the rest of the team when you can do all that and not score or assist like Messi and then will not track back to help in defense and even when you did were no better than a cone. Why do you think more attacking players like Mahrez were being benched with more goals and assists than Grealish? You guys must not know Pep. Pedro's best tally at Barca was not up to Henry's in Pep's first season yet Pep benched him for majority of the next for not tracking back. Before you rate players, always make sure that rating is aligned with his managers expectations or else you will find yourself making the arguments you have above. Notice I did not say Grealish is a better player than Hazard. I said Pep would rather have Grealish than prime Hazard. And no, Hazard was never on Messi's level as a dribbler otherwise, Bolasie, Zaha, Saint Maxim and Adam Traore were as well. Effective dribbling is not running into tight corners, doing unnecessary moves, putting your team into cul-de- sacs and diving your way out of it. How many times have you watched Pep's teams to know he does not allow players hold onto the ball for too long except like Grealish he trusts you? |
| Re: Offical Bayern Munich Fan Thread: 6x Champions Of Europe by A40(m): 3:53pm On Jul 19, 2023 |
kendrick93:Grealish and Hazard battle of the mid Anyway this your statement can apply to every outfield player maybe bar Ederson in goal. In fact the biggest compliment I can pay Pep is the fact that there's no player I can categorically say you remove and City will not still win games. Not even Haaland. The team is built to rely on absolutely nobody |
| Re: Offical Bayern Munich Fan Thread: 6x Champions Of Europe by kendrick93(m): 4:13pm On Jul 19, 2023 |
Android17:Hazard was one of the most effective dribblers ever. Saying he was dribbling into tight corners is dishonesty or you probably didn't watch him enough. This isn't Bolasie or saint Maxim we're talking about. Any comparison with those players shows you are biased. Yes Hazard was very close to Messi dribbling wise, infact he pipped Messi to the most completed couple of seasons and this was Messi at his prime. Grealish tactically superior how? If you mean not producing end product then yeah. Hazard at his best literally carried Chelsea attack on his back for several seasons till he left.. Grealish is nowhere near him, putting them in the same sentence is not even worth a mention |
| Re: Offical Bayern Munich Fan Thread: 6x Champions Of Europe by kendrick93(m): 4:17pm On Jul 19, 2023 |
A40:Pep I agree. Hazard wasn't mid though. Genuinely one of the best, exciting playing players I've seen. |
