Auston Trusty celebrates winning the MLS All-Star Challenge with teammates
USA international Auston Trusty struck the decisive blow as we won the MLS All-Star Skills Challenge at a sold out Audi Field in Washington.

Ten members of the squad took part in a series of challenges in a build up to the main event, the All-Star match on Wednesday, and we prevailed on the final kick of the evening. Here's how it all panned out.

1. Shooting Challenge

We began with the shooting challenge, where three players from each side each had 60 seconds each to hit a variety of targets in the goal from the penalty spot. Our trio of Jurrien Timber, Folarin Balogun and Jakub Kiwior took the honours by 121 to 88. Timber top scored with 50 points, and Kiwior was also impressive with his left foot, racking up 49 points to clinch the win. Former Liverpool, Crystal Palace and Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke – now leading the line for local side DC United – got the challenge under way for the All-Stars.

2. Touch Challenge

Next up was the touch challenge, with Kai Havertz and Marquinhos in action for us. The aim was to control and volley a cross into different scoring zones. Marquinhos went first, finishing off some deliveries from Trusty and Jorginho to score 53 points. We were behind going into the second round, but Havertz racked up 86 points to give us the win, 139-115, making it 2-0 after two challenges.

3. Cross and Volley Challenge

Havertz was up again in the cross and volley challenge. Points were awarded depending on the type of finish for each goal, though the German failed to hit the target in the first round. Balogun found the net three times, but Denis Bouanga was in fine form against Alex Runarsson to pull the All-Stars back to 2-1 after three challenges, with a 125-25 win.

4. Passing Challenge

Pinging passes was the name of the game in the fourth challenge, in a best of three round battle, each round lasting 60 seconds. Trusty missed out in round one, but Jorginho levelled matters by winning his head-to-head against Riqui Puig. Kiwior then confirmed the win with a quickfire display of accurate passing.

5. Crossbar Challenge

The score going into this final challenge was 3-1 to us, but with each crossbar hit worth a point, it was all up for grabs. Seven players on each side were involved, aiming at the woodwork from the edge of the box, then midway inside the half. The All-Stars pulled it back to 5-5, meaning it was all on the long-range efforts. Aaron Ramsdale came agonisingly close before Trusty stepped up and thudded his effort against the bar to seal a 6-5 win.

Guys let's be honest, which department in our squid do we still need reinforcement?, Or is this squid now ok for title challenge if they all try and stay fit without injuries. undecided
I hear some rumors about Kudus

I believe the squad is OK but Folarin Balogun shouldn't be sold but should be given more playing time ahead of Nketiah though especially now that Gabriel Jesus is injured in training

Lol, Blue.mann is the least person you can accuse of bad belle though.

But that's not even the issue here. The big issue is that Havertz couldn't find the back of the net after so many attempts in the cross and volley challenge. Omorr, if you've watched any clip or video on that, it's very very ridiculous to think that Havertz couldn't find the net at least once with any of his attempts. I believe even you would hit a target if given that (na wetin most of us dey even do for street ball) how much more a professional like Havertz. Except Havertz was just joking with that play, if not, if he was serious, mehn that's really really concerning I won't lie embarassed

Going into the summer, I said we needed to transition White back to the CB to offer depth and competition and get another RB to compete with Tomi and we have done that. Also, as long as we don’t lose Tierney we should be in great shape defensively.

I thought we should improve our midfield without losing Partey and that seems to be the case. I mean another midfielder won’t hurt but we look like we have the numbers.

The last is getting a pure CF that offer is a different style of attacking our opponents. This is the one area I hope we can address before the start of the season. Nketiah got significant playing time and opportunities but I don’t think he is the guy…no be to demand number 14 jersey!!

Balogun looks the part but I don’t think he wants to sit on the bench for even Jesus. If you ask me, it would be the CF position.

I've always maintained my stand. We need a Saka Left footed deputy. I don't trust any right footer on that wing, I certainly don't trust Marquinhos as well as Havertz.

Is Duberry a left footed player and will he be a deputy. Maybe I would love if he can be given the opportunity.

But If we get a Kudus this season, then I'll Judge our transfer window 10/10

to be honest I haven't seen any of the clips and my comment was just to help minimize the jabs from others who might have wanted to drag on that here. I no go talk for Kai matter untill I watch him dis morning, that is if he plays.

Among our forwards I think Balogun looks like the most likely to leave. And Tierney needs to stay, I don't think there is any other better LB in the market if we let him go.

Also, while not emergent, I worry about our backup GK situation. There is a significant drop in quality if anything happens to Ramsdale. Neither Turner nor Hein inspires confidence in-between the sticks.

Marquinhos is a no no for me, still needs loan deal or better still u21 play time. Duberry is left footed and a better baller and if given play time can develop rapidly cus he has the composure and agility for EPL. And I truely have not given up on Nelson, Nketiah can still operate from the right wings too.

I saw Martinez develop into a monster, I believe with time turner will too. Remember when he first played, his first, second and probably third matches were shit but then he grew into the team. I believe he can still develop more, no be stop and clear he been de do before, now he don de calm down play ball more.

one thing I love about Arsenal current players is the fact that they will happily play any position that they have tried out before in their career just to help the team. So I wouldn't be surprised if G.jesus plays in the wing and make space for Nketiah or Balogun up front. Balogun is more CF than Nketiah if you ask me shaa. So yeah I think in the same direction as you.

Martinez was always known to be a courageous shot stopper armed with strong fists and aerial dominance; he just didn't have the ball playing skills early on in his career.

I just hope you are right about Turner because we can't afford a significant drop in quality in that position, especially when you consider the number of competitions we are playing this season.

Saka position, but since we have Dubbery, I hope he’s given the chance cause that dude Issa baller.

Goal keeping position, I just hope Ramsdale wouldn’t be fatigued and personally, I don’t trust Turner like that.

Center Forward, we need a taller CF for aerial domination.
