For all of Arteta's progress, it's disappointing that he doesn't give our youth a chance. In fact, none of our academy can say they're making the squad through him.

Truthfully, I was impressed with @Spy360 post yesterday, because it was very clear with no ambiguity and I can respect that. Hopefully, he doesn't turn amala at the end of the season.

There is absolutely no way this team shouldn't be winning the league, I don't care who your competition is. There is squad continuity (extended the core of the first 11), experience, leadership in all areas, spending, depth and quality.

We have sacrificed our young players/ academy throughout Arteta's reign, which really makes me mad because our academy is our identity and part of our culture as a club. It would have been different if the younger players he has splashed on are better than our Hale End products. Lokonga/ Marquinhos/ Vieira have all faltered and Chelsea saved us from his 70M wild goose chase of Mudryk. However, if that is what he needs to get me the title, I can endure.

I am not interested in the FA Cup, I want the EPL or UCL, that is what the quality and depth of this squad demands when it comes to expectations.

I can only rate coaches based on their previous performances and what they are doing to improve.

Pep for example is so good that even when you think he is weakened he bounces back. Losing Gundogan and Mahrez who were main stays in his team last season will surely weaken him. We will see how he works that out. But so far, I am not impressed.

For Arteta, he already had a good first eleven. He has spent big to get ready made stars who can go straight in to improve the first team is a massive response to last season. For me right now, he has the best squad in the league.

He should be competing with the very best in Europe.

Pep will sign players and even if he doesn't, he'll still use these places effectively while bringing in young players from the academy.

That's how they were saying he'll miss David Silva until he unleashed Foden.

It was easier to defend Jorg cos if you look beyond Chelsea fans complain and watch him without the lens of Chelsea fans, you'll see that he's not really a bad player the way they made him out to be. I knew how many times I drew their attention to some of them esp Ibi.me and Popi concerning the good games he played (Like I personally watched Jorg in Chelsea just to see why he's been scapegoated for all losses) and they'll give one excuse or the other. The most prevalent was that he normally plays good against small team which in a broader sense it isn't bad at all(except na agenda). That's why even though I was angry we signed him at first, I later calm down to analyse things and found out that he won't be bad as a deputy since we'll be meeting most small teams and it's also a short term contract

I did same thing for Havertz but it was the opposite. He hardly impressed me in a match and his overall play was very poor. I personally look at overall play to judge a player and not team's result. Havertz is always found wanting in the overall play and the number of good- to-outstanding performance can be counted in one hand.

I've read all the comments here and aside the goal he scored, nobody seemed to even review Havertz performance. Even newboy Timber don dey get review.

I always like to give players benefit of doubt at times..with valid reasons though.

I was against Jorginho because he is not exactly a DM. Man is just like a DLP which means he was not a suitable cover for Partey.


As for Havertz, I first heard of him when he was at Bayer. His entire travail at Chelsea might be due to coaching issue and position. Arteta has been eyeing him since January.

Honestly we have the best squad at the moment, unfortunately I cannot say the same about our manager... Though I believe Arteta is fast improving but like I said earlier on this thread, I cannot rate him better than Pep and Klopp.

The community shield should give us an idea of how competitive we will be this season.

When the rumor of us getting Kai started, I thought it was a bad joke being promoted by Chelsea fans till the reality set in. The question is can anything good come out of Nassareth? Well Jesus came from there. But what good thing can come from Kai from all we have seen him done at Chelsea? Well miracle no dey tire Baba God.

I have decided to give him and Arteta the benefits of the doubt till they both convince me that we don't have another Pepe case at hand... Maybe there is something about him good managers are seeing that we are not seeing. Remember even Carlo Ancelotti (One of the few managers I respect) was also interested in him but walked away cos of the price tag on him..

Havertz is actually a very technical player but if you are lazy in football

It goes both ways; Sometimes the coach will do the right thing and the players will throw the match away .

Go and watch that Southampton match all over again, Na the players lose that particular match; they let in an early goal and from there things went downhill.

Whatever me or u says doesn't actually matter; It's the coach and his crew who know what they instructed the players, see how they are playing to or against instruction that can actually decide whether a player should sit on the bench or not. It's the coach that knows whether he needs Zinchencko in the game irrespective of his mistakes in previous matches.

Facts that you guys said so but I understand during the beginning If he felt he doesn't want to use academy especially when he wanted to stabilise arsenal.

But now that arsenal is stable, it's frustrating to see that he still ignores the academy. This is the perfect time to be giving Duberry (or any other academy player) a chance

Klopp and Pep are certainly the top two coaches in the league no doubt.

It's good how our team are being shaped and also they depth and versatility we have. It will be interesting to see how Arteta utilises all of them effectively this season.

I just hope we won't have a stagnant first 11 like last season. I just hope he rotates more, especially in midfield and attack

The way Una dey praise players while ignoring the coach's impact, one will think Arteta came and met these players on ground. That's what I find surprising with the takes.

What's even more surprising is the fact that most of these players y'all called very good players is in fact players we all labelled not good enough when signed.
