How do we have the best squad compared to other top 6 teams ?

How do we have the best squad but the manager is not best ? Did the squad just assemble themselves and just become the best squad without the manager having a strong hand in it ?

Most of the players speak highly of Arteta and the role he played in them reaching their peak . I don’t know why we fans just wish to rate the players A grade and then give Arteta B. Why ?
Don't get me wrong. I believe we have the best squad at the moment because that squad almost won the league last season and we are yet to lose any key player in the team, rather we have strengthen the team compare to others. (My personal opinion though).

On Arteta, many on this thread know I am one of the few that stan Arteta. A rookie that grew to become one of the prominent managers in the world under a short time. And right now I don't see any manager available out there that I will prefer to take over Arsenal except maybe Zidane. But all that said there are still 3 active managers I rate above Arteta; Pep, Ancelotti and Klopp. They also have great squads and Arteta will be facing them this season.

So my post was not to discredit Arteta, I was only agreeing with Jodera that while I agree we have squad that can win the league, there are still better managers Arteta will be facing... Reason I cannot say like many that we must win the league and/or UCL. Let me see how Arteta fair against Pep in the Community Shield and we see how ready and competitive we are.

Lol, what of the good decisions that affects the team?
That one is not on Arteta shebi? undecided

The way Una dey praise players while ignoring the coach's impact, one will think Arteta came and met these players on ground. That's what I find surprising with the takes.

What's even more surprising is the fact that most of these players y'all called very good players is in fact players we all labelled not good enough when signed.
Which players?
Oya mention them

These players won't survive modern day football even pep don't buy them
If you can't press you are useless
And I don't like such players ehn except of course you're too good to mask up your deficiencies

You cannot separate the team from the manager especially if it's the manager that actually built the team.

This Arsenal that we are all salivating about was built by Arteta. Give him the credit or else don't credit the team at all.
Arteta is good no doubt. He knows what he wants and has built a young powerful team for us no doubt. But when things are not going his ways (injuries or one of his key players having a bad day) does he has enough reserve tactics-wise to still win compare to the likes of Pep or Klopp. Well Maybe he has; this season will tell because we now have a good squad depth... No more excuse for him.

Ramsdale.... Almost all of us

White... Almost all of us

Odegaard... Some sections of the fans here didn't want him after his loan

Tomi... Almost all were undecided. No excitement

Xhaka... We all wanted him gone even if it's free.

Gabriel... Most of us here weren't keen on his signing.

(Should I add also Zinny because of you? tongue)

That's like 5 core players who raised their games to high levels all thanks to Arteta (with Xhaka now gone on a high)

I don't want to even talk about the improvement of other players we even love like Saka and Martinelli

So having our own personal choice means the players he got were bad
Ramsdale played for 3 clubs and all relegated plus his price over too much for such calibre
Bros arteta didn't sign gabu
Xhaka was okay when wengay signed him what are you talking about
We had saliba on loan only for us to blow 50m on white, till date i think it's still a stupid deal
Mind you if we are talking of good arsenal players remove white abeg

Odegaard: we got odegaard cos of his price, Maddison was expensive but I am glad we did because odegaard is the boss
zinny: no one here hate zinny we only ask him to stay on his lane
I was only mocking him as a cry cry baby, how does that mean he's not a good player
Nawa oo

You didn't add awilo and viera, i am wondering why

So arteta improve saka, martinelli they play, he should also improve atleast one of the academy players na

All i know is we owe ebening gratitude for ESR and saka without him saka would have gone to another club
I am glad ebening came before him for this reason

Arteta signed Gabriel. It's facts

You're just buttressing my point with a dose of Amala by the side. The Ramsdale, Odegaard and Xhaka, most of us wouldn't want them here if given the chance. If we later claim after 2yrs or so that these assemblage of players are good enough, then we need to credit the manager for that too. It's an easy something that doesn't need Amala turning.

Zinny no suppose deh the list because it's only you I felt was not really keen on his signing.(that's why it's in bracket, just a little dig cool )

As for awilo and Viera, no be everybody wey person sign must turn star. Moreover, there's still chance for Veira

Martinelli and Saka improved under him and that's facts. At least, Saka goalscoring will tell you that.
But you see this improvement of our play, one day I go break am down for here

Lastly, nobody said they shouldn't credit ebening esp for Saka, Martinelli and Esr but the Koko of the matter is that the core of the players are Arteta's players not ebening and if you feel they're ripe to compete for the league, then at least acknowledge Arteta. Simples!!!

I am sure arteta can't say ESR and saka are his products or he developed them
Saka and ESR have been scoring since ebening days
As for your list because one or people no like them no mean they are bad

Show me the goals Saka and Esr have been scoring during ebening time let's compare with Arteta's own.

If na one or two persons, you think I'll create that list. More than two persons (excluding me) was against Ramsdale, Gabriel, White and Odegaard (at least I can proudly say I was in favour of us buying him instead of Madison but that doesn't mean I would troll those who did).

And yeah, na only you no rate Rice, so it'll be petty of me to include him if he shines but if someone like Havertz turn world class here, do you think the credit won't go to Arteta?...

...After how everyone here was against his signing bar Spy and maybe Mo.stob?

NB: I didn't say they're bad, but as at signing them, they aren't upto the class players they are today reason why most of us didn't want them

No too loud am, we dey here.

Truthfully, I was impressed with @Spy360 post yesterday, because it was very clear with no ambiguity and I can respect that. Hopefully, he doesn't turn amala at the end of the season.

There is absolutely no way this team shouldn't be winning the league, I don't care who your competition is. There is squad continuity (extended the core of the first 11), experience, leadership in all areas, spending, depth and quality.

We have sacrificed our young players/ academy throughout Arteta's reign, which really makes me mad because our academy is our identity and part of our culture as a club. It would have been different if the younger players he has splashed on are better than our Hale End products. Lokonga/ Marquinhos/ Vieira have all faltered and Chelsea saved us from his 70M wild goose chase of Mudryk. However, if that is what he needs to get me the title, I can endure.

I am not interested in the FA Cup, I want the EPL or UCL, that is what the quality and depth of this squad demands when it comes to expectations.
You must be a tough Dad or CEO....your child must make first class...even me wey no be Arterta dey feel pressure on his behalf..
EPL and UCL hmmmmm lipsrsealed

Have told you we got odegaard because he was cheaper even though madisson is epl proven but also injury prone

They play
1... So you know that they scored more goals for arsenal under Arteta shey? grin
Is that not improvement..
Do you know if Arteta is not a good coach, there high tendency that Saka and Martinelli will stagnate?

2... Aside from being cheaper, Arsenal and Arteta wanted Odegaard. Moreover, Madison was not injury prone as at when we were linked to him. It was very clear Odegaard was Arteta's first choice and it's the same reason he handed him the captain armband and vice captain after lacazzette. Even if na 50m, everything points that Arteta would still have gotten his man except if Odegaard claims he doesn't want to come and Madrid also didn't want to sell

3... Suddenly, Havertz whom everyone is angry we bought is now Chelsea's highest goalscorer. I didn't know he could get such encomiums from a moniker not named Spy grin

So as e dey now,

If Havertz flops... It's on Arteta

If Havertz shines... It's because he was once a golden generational talent thus it has nothing to do with Arteta.

You want to have it both ways init?? grin

Arterta not looking to bringing in young talents from the academy means Arsenal are now a buying club, no time for noturing babies . ..
This means Arterta either wins Epl or UCL or he should be relieved off his job. cheesy
Wenger sef never enjoyed TW like this..
Ebening was mixing youngsters with the likes of Licthiner, Sokratis, Luiz. mustafi, Kolasinac, Niles, Bellerin, Cech ....
Kroenke and Edu really tried

1... Cos under ebening, our goals are concentrated on strikers. Either Laca or Auba.
Under Arteta, it's shared. (And I'm not strictly talking about last season)

2... I answered you that football needs more than technical but lazy players. For Havertz to perform, he'll need to be less lazy and more productive (aside his technicality). If he does such, it's an indictment of Arteta's improvement on him. Issa simple sturvs!!

But he did fantastically well as RB. At least our back was not leaking like that until Saliba got injured.

If anything we should give him credit for being vasetile. I think Arteta is molding his defense to be that vasetile... Kiwor has been playing LB this season. Don't forget even Tomi played LB when we met Liverpool and he did well. Ditto Timber can play CB and RB too.

And only a useless manager will pick Maguire ahead of White... Blame the coach not White.
