I paid less than 5k a term in FGC and had the best education ever. We were seriously competing with those expensive privates schools and outclassed them in lots of state competitions.
Even in my university days, most FGC students were topping their departments even with less tuition fee paid during their secondary school. That FGCs might be in a sorry state now, shows poor management and not low school fees.

Poor management and low school fees.

Also, more and more schools are being set up. The more they get set up, the less money available for individual schools.

Why will they not abuse you, when you cannot comprehend correctly, who was the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as of the 25th of May 2023?

This was contained in a directive from the Office of the Director of Senior Secondary Education Department of the Federal Ministry of Education, reference number ADF/120/DSSE/I, dated 25th May, 2023, and addressed to all Principals of Federal Unity Colleges.
and you can't still reason enough at your age that he has the power as a president to rescind this kind of decision with the current state or situation of the country ?

I think this is a bad idea.

Government can increase the cost of tertiary education as they wish but primary and secondary school education must be as free and accessible as possible.

In this digital age, you can learn and become anything you want as long as you have a solid primary and secondary education.

In fact, one of the problems we have in this country is the overload we have in our tertiary institutions. Too many unworthy institutions, admissions and graduation just because everyone wants a certificate.

Many of our youths start their life afresh (or at least almost afresh) after wasting half a decade in a tertiary institution studying something they neither love nor value. Whereas, they could have pursued their passion in carpentry, metal works, mechanical repair, bricklaying etc.

Waste of people's time, efforts and resources. That's why we have many frustrated and clueless youths in our society.

Gbam. The same point I thought of.

The plan is to totally annihilate the middle class and make the dichotomy between the rich and poor very clear.

No more average family/ middle class.

If you can't go to school, go and learn handwork(or beg)...most of the starving minions will end up with the latter.

nnachukz:
And the burden on poor Nigerians continues to increase. Soon average Nigerians will no longer be able to afford basic education.

Most of them attending these schools are children or the rich with connections in the corridors of power and the Education Ministry. If u think is a lie, apply as a common man and see if you will get admission

Wait a minute which Fed govt are you talking about all these fed govt this fed govt that is shitty because we haven't get Ministers yet so who is the fed govt saying g all these thrash?

I refused to accept Tinubu will just wake up from a sleep and so jobless to be talking about increasing tution fee for unity secondary schools pls it sound stupid.

Pls stop peddling nonsense news enough is enough of all these stupid talks if you don't like Tinubu, fine but stop all these annoying thrash.

This was exactly what I was talking about.

I believe it's the schools doing whatever they like for now. They can as well use the money to pay their lecturers and leave federal government out of it.

Major point is we need educated citizens to improve the quality of the country hence if there's any area which need to be subsidised, it should be the education sector.

Before looking forward to any tuition increment in education sector, a lot of things must have been put in place, such as bridging the gap between the rich and the poor. How can we say we don't want amajiri loitering around everywhere yet increase tuition fees? Aren't the federal government paying the lecturers/teachers? Except if it's to privatise these education schools and get the schools paying their own lecturers by themselves.

Is that too hard to comprehend? Does your statement that Tinubu should "look at it" excuse or negate your claims?

Based on your claims,

What big trap did buhari set for Tinubu?

Is Tinubu not the almighty strategist who has the magic wand and who had vision?

How come he didn't see these "big traps"?

How is buhari now responsible for the decisions Tinubu is now making?

Did I wrote my comment for you to setup a debate with me? Did you and I sit in any place where I told you Pbat is a strategist and who has the magic ward? And what are you hoping to achieve by asking me this questions? If you are bitter with Pbat, Aso rock should be your destination. The traps Buhari lay for Pbat that I said is for my own consumption. So now what?

How to know the difference.

The problem is, the education budget is not enough to meet all needs, so fees have to go up.

We have been spending N45000 as fees, meanwhile all our FGC's are in a serious mess...yet we keep spending low fees, because poor.

Well, fees have gone up,

Well coming from a slave. It’s expected enjoy your renewed hope
